Been watching since Rickey Foggie. Fleck can't even go .500 in Conference games. Good Luck this week, might want to pick up a Johnson 9.9 and get rid of the oars.

Ha ha ha........I know in my head there are lots of programs in the expanded Big 10 far better than Minnesota and just happened to come across the ESPN Rankings having them at 14. In football, teams tend to play better and win games at home if you haven't been following along the past 100 years. I'm glad you know the Ins and Outs of the Gopher football Roster. I am a UND Football Fan.

Are we better off following the more recent Bison strategy of Cupcake Non-Conference scheduling? Bison last beat an FBS team, Iowa, in 2016. Since then lost to Arizona in 2022 and Colorado in 2024, and will get butts kicked in 2028 at Oregon. This doesn't seem to fit the narrative of FBS schools shaking in their boots. Replace K. State with a home softy and we are 3-1 heading into conference. In 2023 replace Boise St. with a home softy and we are 8-4 and in the playoffs. Down side is the program probably needs the pay-days.

Fleck pads his record with 3 cupcakes per year, but conference record doesn't lie. P.J. Fleck's career Big Ten record at Minnesota is 33-36 as of June 2025, making his Big Ten winning percentage .486, which is the best for a Minnesota coach with at least six seasons since the 1980s.

3rd TE in the Gopher recruiting class, that's a heavy TE class unless someone is moving to another position.

https://www.on3.com/news/espn-ranks-big-ten-football-teams-from-first-to-last-ahead-of-week-6/ Is 14 out of 18 interesting enough for you?

I get both sides of it, but would you rather - Compete for National Titles in FCS or Play at MN and never sniff a meaningful Bowl Game? (I would rank 12 other Big 10 teams as a better option than MN for success) Play 3-4 years as a major contributor or burn years riding the pines, get some playing time as a Jr. and possibly start as a Senior? These are legitimate things to consider and personally I have children coming up that will need to navigate these scenarios, not all football related. Fleck has done a decent job although personally I would never let my son(s) play for him. He's too much about himself and I think this is widely known. The "Elite" crap they through at recruits is nauseating. MN will see Elite this year, Ohio St. and Oregon.

Observant point. It was Schleusner that told me that strategy years back. Before a big game, or prior to conference, throw so many looks on film that DCs don't have enough practice time in the week to prepare for them all.

On one hand this game is Cupcake City and doesn't push the starters to get better at anything. It helps them stay in game shape a little but other than that pretty pointless. It is helpful for building depth and getting 2/3s some reps and I hope we go to that earlier than later. And, this game sucks for fans. On the other hand, it's a W and we'd be 3-0 too if we had the Cupcake Special that NDSU baked up to start the season. I'd rather be 3-0 than 1-2 on paper although we are a better team "internally" because of those 2 Ls. And those 2 L games will help us when facing SDSU and NDSU. #valosucks and I might not even watch the game.

Just watching the video about 20 times. 1) the camera is super shaky the entire time 2) you can't tell the level of contact, brush by, or whatever happened without another view 3) way to pile on our staff 4) if you think the game pissed a casual fan off, imagine having your livelihood depend on it If there was a provable shove or contact initiated by Olson then I condemn it 100%. You simple can't see it from the guy holding the phone/camera. Olson looks to be all of 300 lbs and jogging in a straight path. If there was contact not many would be standing up still.

Prove it.

The camera moves a little, boo hoo!! Move on. I am glad he's pissed off and dropping F-bombs, he should be.

Controlling the clock for 37:51 to barely hang vrs Iowa St. (21-3 loss) is much different than trading punches with K State to have a W slip though our fingers. But yes, yet again, early in the season I threw out a "must win", that part is the same.
-
Results on the field are extremely disappointing but the all important "eye test" has been mostly passed. Unfortunately the next 6 are almost "must wins" leading up to NDSU. Valpo, UNI, Youngstown, S. Illinois, Indiana St., USD. 3 of these teams are ranked and 2 others are noted as "receiving votes", so not an easy task. Valpo is a crappy football program, not sure where this conference belongs, but it's not FCS.
-
Oh Boy, "Force of the North" or "UNI of the North."

17 for 40 isn't going to win a lot of games. FBS average completion percentage is 60-65%. 60% on 40 attempts is 24 completions. 7 more completions and it's game over. Should have been several "game overs" in spite of the low completion percentage. This one really hurts.

I want more Deng Deng, mostly because I think he's good but it's also fun to say "want more Deng Deng". He looked really good on what I'll call a skinny post. For a 6'5" guy he didn't look that tall, meaning he moves well. Tai being a Sophomore, absolutely more touches and appears to be on the right trajectory. Could be ballcap and clipboard time for a few in the WR room, more beneficial to the program to develop guys with 2+ years left.
-
100% truthful statement, this is the 1st game I am OK saying this is a "quality loss". And like the pioneers of quality losses, UNI, we jumped up into the top 25 based on a loss.

Bubbas weekly "What I would like to see this week for your F'N Hawks."

OC might want to get a mirror out with his predictable deep shot that wasn't there all day long because of K. State speed and possibly our lack of a deep threat. Then, OC followed up with another straight drop back pass I believe vrs a really tough and hard charging front. With K. State pinning their ears back a screen probably was a play to be a step ahead of the D. THEN, with 2:01 left in the game, why not throw the ball? With the 2:00 automatic stoppage it's a free pass play without the negative incompletion stoppage. Fruechte was a little hot/cold all game. He wasn't much better than a C+ this game. -
1st off, I got a chuckle out of "bubbaball69" and it's good to get a laugh once in a while from the threads. I agree about the limiting factor of Simon's downfield throwing ability.( and questionable deep threats at WR) With some personal background on the D side of college FB, if DBs and Safeties don't have to worry about getting beat deep it's a way easier ball game. It's almost like playing defense from the 15 yard line in no matter where the ball is.

Is JTJ a 4.7-4.8 type or more of a 4.4-4.5 type? I think that's a determining factor on getting a chance to start and/or a package of plays. I am not as uptight as many if we play 2 quarterbacks to start the season.

Fists were flying. Love it!!
-
Seems like we don't but maybe with 2 in the game, instead of trying to anchor the D-line with 1 nose, we'll be OK??
-
Unless you are as undersized as Jake Rastas. Quick history lesson, freshman All-American because the whole LB crew got hurt. Next 3 seasons a special teamer and back-up LB at 215 pounds. At 235 probably a 4 - year starter.
