  1. 2016 Media Guide - UND has #1 ranked Rush Defense again and ranks #6 in the nation plus #1 scoring Defense in Big Sky. 2. Not sure what you are saying is true. Looks like in 2014 UND had the number 1 ranked D in the Big Sky. The following year UND had the #1 rushing D in Big Sky that ranked #7 in the nation. I haven't looked at the following years yet but both those results show a way above average performance. 3. He would bring a 4-2-5. Is that what you meant?
  4. The DeBoer broad brush paints pretty wide on this site. Hilarious whoever posted the Bubba or DeBoer comments from 2013.........you were all in for Bubba. Was that just for 3 years or longer?
  5. Resume Builder?? Isaac Fruechte Work Experience - Interim Head Coach, University of North Dakota 12/1/2024 - 12/6/2024
  6. I would keep Big Time Shawny K. Kostich has the most knowledge about area HS coaches, other area college coaches, recruits, UND Admin, Alumni, and he's an awesome dude.

  8. If not at least our new RB Coach I will be cheering for the Bi-Zon.
  9. You are correct, we need more and better athletes. Bubba and company through the years were adequate, even above average with X's and O's (Maybe not Rudy), and team culture. BUT, below average in recruiting/talent, roster management. Excellent with team GPA however as we are constantly reminded. The next staff needs to have an eye for talent regardless if it's instant through the portal or developed with HS kids. The 3-4 defense is viable but we could not get enough of the right players, probably easier to run 4 man front. But again the failure of the 3-4 in part was lack of talent.
  10. The reality in college football is a week today is equal to a month 11 years ago. Signing day (4th) and portal opening (9th) during a once in a lifetime year of FBS roster cap of 105 players makes the timing of the new HC at UND paramount. The longer the process the deeper the hole I believe. If Chaves is thumbing his way through a 6-week process he should be removed. If Chaves has most of the leg work done and takes a week or less I am good with that.
  11. If an outsider with no UND ties fails I can't wait to lead the charge of "He knew nothing about how things work at UND and in Grand Forks." It's getting a little silly at this point that if you had a first cousin visit North Dakota in their childhood that disqualifies a candidate.
  12. Slightly worse is "Hey, Coach Fruechte here, interim HC. I will be let go in a matter of days or weeks when the new HC is hired, but this place has been very special to me......these past 10 months."
  13. Then this should have been said in conjunction with Bubba stepping down.
  14. I am just as surprised by this "interim" twist as anyone. If Fruechte was/is to be HC whether interim or not why hold it for a few days? Chaves winging it or playing chess vrs Deep Blue? The other scenario is thanks for playing interim HC prior to the new HC firing you.....seems odd.
  15. Fruechte "as interim" can only mean he is the next HC. Imagine hiring Schmidt/Baldwin/Whomever then saying guess what, "we picked the OC for you".
  16. Not enough doughnuts in GF.
  17. I would agree but SDSU (San Diego) being crappy and lacking talent helps UND's case. Schmidt could be looking at 1) Next HC at UND or 2) next year as DC and potentially fired if that program doesn't turn it around. Never hurts to look more than your current pay check down the road. If SDSU had a winning record and top or improving D Schmidt probably not interested in UND at all.
  18. I don't get your point?? Moorhead HS has talented players, they are close to home, they have kids going FBS that could drop down to a school close to home. Name a better pipeline to pick up a player or 2 per year or every other year.
  19. I don't know about the Tom Miller angle but to be clear on my frustration and disappointment. Romfo is starting QB out of Camp while Feeney doesn't get a sniff. Neither has proven a thing in a college football game. Feeney has about 1,000 more completions in High School at the 5A level. Feeney is taller, stronger arm, tons more throwing experience. Simon runs better. Feeney comes from a school that could be/has a pipeline of talent. Simon is a feel good ND story. Most are just asking, why not see something on the field? Did Simon really blow Feeney and Jerry away in practice to the point it wasn't even close? I find that hard to believe and as someone else mentioned I would trade Romfo with most other QBs in the MVFC. I am frustrated with the lack of QB talent/development the past 11 years and in the process handled this past year so poorly UND can't even show their face at Moorhead High.
  20. On one hand a great ND story with literally a few DI walk-ons per 5 years to maybe 100 years, average it out. OR - One of the biggest High Schools in MN that kicks out DI players annually and 1 hour away. (and we had the coaches son on the roster) This is a tough one for me if my program is struggling in landing top talent.
  21. "tackle better" - Woof!! Torching the Moorhead Pipeline didn't take long to show the results of that. Sounds like anything in Bubba's control isn't changing and we have a weak administration.
  22. Chaves probably handed out turkeys and set up meetings for next week. Maybe a committee or 2 is in the works with one criteria being if a committee member likes a coaches nickname or not. It's total amateur hour at UND 365 days per year.
  23. Not this time although given my history of joking and satire I can see why you asked the question!!
  24. I believe Bubba had too much Bama in him to foresee the fallout. His flaw is too much pride in the program and himself. That's actually an admirable flaw don't you think.
  25. I have "minimal" issues with Bubba as HC up to this point. He fired his OC at one point when it was needed, maybe a year too late but his timing wasn't totally unreasonable. Bubba obviously believed he had a few more years in him after last season. The fall-out wasn't expected (to him) with OC, O-line Coach, starting O-Lineman leaving and at that point he tried his best given the fall-out. Bubba made the wrong call after last season in hindsight as many have noted but he's a fighter too and believed in himself and the University. At 4-1 and 5-2 this season it looked like he was going to pull it off and have a successful season. As it sits today however, going forward, I probably will put most of the blame on the old Ball Coach if he doesn't step down. Bubba has more pride, passion, love for UND than 99% of us. I'm sure he's not feeling good about the finish. If he steps aside this week I am good with that.......he took a shot, wanted many National Titles, failed, but was man enough to go for it. I have known Bubba for 30 years and I am cutting the guy some slack up until this point in the program. Minimal = Road record, Defensive philosophy, recruiting battles, never wowed by QB position talent, could have turned it over to Danny last year Favorite Moment - Kicking the crap out of the Bison and my kids rushing the field after the game. Honorable mention is Deion Harris "To The House" comeback W.
