Maybe I should be thanking him as he (and Danny) likely aided in moving the program to a fresh start. The tough part of saying this is on the personal side I like, admire, respect Bubba. I have known both Bubba and Schmidty for a long time, it's been an interesting dynamic. But pro-Schmidty 100%, we needed new perspective and leadership.

Tell me more about "Run Away Sam" and why would we want him back. Did he start for the Jacks last season? I guess pulling a starter away from the Jacks would be a decent reason.

Although some feelings were hurt Danny leaving was a major event. It showed he didn't believe in his future job security at UND. Then, a few players and O-line coach showed the same sentiment. Next, we had the Jake the Snake incident, followed by questionable QB management, SleepGate, then continually disappointing road results. One could argue in putting himself first Danny also put UND first. We are now in a better position with Schmidty(I believe) and Danny is part of a movement that is gutting the Jacks. All while tripling his salary and making him a future HC option at FCS and/or FBS. What a wild ride!!

These things can snowball in a good way. Land the QB, WR target sees that and joins the party. Then hopefully some DT's with nicknames like Tank and Big Snacks hop on board.

This kid can be a legitimate game changer for UND. He looks nothing like our QBs past and present. I hope the flow and reports are true in that he will soon be a F'n Hawk.

Ha, I just looked too. Jacks range from 240 - 260lbs and many are a few inches taller. Thundering Turd has a few under 240 lbs. With 2 DTs takes some run game pressure off the DEs.

Size might be an issue.

Nickel needs to be a stud, could come in as a smaller LB type. But ya, going from a 4 LB defense to 2 LB D and a Nickel probably will cause a roster kerfuffle.

Guessing QB is not an impressive position, along with WR group. O-Line was as expected, above average. RB's good. TE group always a mystery. D-Line probably seen as not good plus a big change with 4 man front. I think we have some capable backers. Corners pretty average. Been lacking Safeties for years. All in all a small margin for error historically.

I'd keep Kostich as I mentioned last week. I like Joel but as a position guy, probably safeties, but T. Stepps is there and probably can't keep both. I wouldn't keep anyone else especially the guy that wanted your job. I don't know Kirkwood but RBs have been strong. I don't think Dosch is the right fit under Schmidty, it's a weird dynamic.
