  1. 10-1 and a trip to Frisco I am getting the checkbook out to NLI key returners.
  2. 9-2 this season and I am still on board and that would mean we beat either NDSU or SDSU. 8-3 and I am hanging by a thread but still on board. 7-4 with losses to NDSU, SDSU and one other then I am disinterested in the status quo. Staff probably returns but not going to follow much. 6-5 is a trainwreck 5-6 gonna watch women's soccer only and find a safe place
  3. I was hoping Tommy could do his thing knowing his thing is much different than what Penix and Washington did to Boise. I am pretty disappointed in his play but the dink and dunk show in my mind wouldn't be all that effective today. We lacked an offensive identity. Fact is, I have no idea what our O identity is most games other than panic and go 4 and 5 wides when things get tough. I didn't like being told this week if you didn't pick UND to win today then YOU were the problem.......I did not think UND was going to win BUT as the game started we looked the part, basically just played like sh-t in lots of areas.
  4. On pace for another Top 20, just need that signature 1st win of the season in week 3 or 4.
  5. There is a thing called trajectory too you know that factors into those 2 throws. I have no issues with Tommy, just pointing out the way Washington toasted Boise is not in our arsenal of weapons but Tommy has other intangibles that will give us a shot in this game. (unless defensively we can't get any stops)
  6. Northwestern Red Raiders......ranked #1 in NAIA football beat Drake in OT, context matters. If you look at a lot of Washington's scoring and big plays VRS Boise a good chunk of those came on deep throws, throws Tommy can't make. The pass to Elidor for example, he basically had to stop running. Penix (Washington QB) was hitting guys in stride on deep balls and throwing bullets across the middle. (29 of 40 for 450 yards with 5 TDS) Now Penix last season was a bit of a hot/cold QB with a big arm and no doubt he was red hot VRS Boise. Lunch Bucket Tommy Gun is pretty much the same QB every game. Can the intangibles, timing, and WR/TE talent be enough VRS Boise? It won't match Penix's play but it doesn't need to match, just be good enough to win. So yes, our offense is a little tongue and cheek #1 currently but it can be good enough to hang in this game. Probably more scary to me is the Boise St. RB Jeanty. (43 touches for 365 yards, 8.49 per touch vrs Washington and UCF)
  7. This interior plan sounds better than being a bunch of turtles on our backs. All outside LBs 6'1"-6'2" and 220-225 lbs. Boise, Jacks, Bison, probably smart enough to test our LBs vrs 2 TEs.
  8. I am worried about DE and LB size/weight. Other than Drake this D will get pushed around, forcing the secondary to make too many tackles, then get butchered on PA. Any OC with half a brain is thinking about their 2 TEs run package vrs our pretty small front.
  9. Usually I rip kids because they pick a crappy dumpster MAC school to play in the Summer's Eve DouchebagBowl but in this case let's compare.....Furman is FCS, good conference, SoCon, no complaints there. Greenville, SC can get up to an inch of snow in the winter, and it's most likely to fall in December compared to 6 months of pure hell last winter. (W for Furman) A Paladin, most consensus definition is one of 12 legendary Nights, the foremost members of Charlemange's court in the 8th century, or just a bad-ss Night.....compared to bird no one wants.(another W for Furman) Greensville is a little larger than GF with lots of new and innovative attractions compared to Cabela's in EGF. (another W for Furman) After a 6-5 2001 season the 2022 season ended 10-3 with a tough 41-38 playoff loss to Incarnate Word, the team that was kicking the crap out of the Bison before getting screwed by the refs on a TD pass. (W for Furman) Really starting to like a lot of things about Furman, respectable choice.
  10. Sweet, let's start paying players!! I think it works in a portal scenario that a payment is set aside, player has to meet criteria, player gets paid. With the delay in payment 6 month CD rates are not that bad.........could even earn a little interest while sitting in the 701 fund!!
  11. Crystal Ball or a burner phone, probably the latter. Every serious program is doing this or has something in the works. UND doesn't of course and can't land anyone from the portal. It's a slow train wreck for college sports, loose transfer portal and NIL pay to play. But it's reality so no use in waiting around.
  12. By the time that happens I fear everyone will be doing it, no advantage. Right now all that is needed is an anonymous tip on which player and how badly we want him. (probably the current NDSU way)
  13. Ya, why not throw $10,000-$20,000 at these targeted portal players??? Doesn't make any sense, like we're trying to not land good players. Nice locker rooms isn't going to get it done.
  14. I believe so. It's a way different ask to say A.) we need funds to bring in Player X and this can help win games this fall and for the next 2 years compared to B.) we're going to make improvements to the film equipment so the GAs can work less hours. A = winning B = Who gives a sh_t.
  15. Frustrating........ Just assuming these players did receive bonus funds.
  16. Other FCS teams are doing Collectives. I think stories like Theilen going to Mankato for $500.00 is telling. A couple grand goes a long ways to a kid that has $50.00 in his checking account.
  17. Nicer locker room vrs top safety to start next season........I am writing a check for one and making excuses for the other.
  18. Just pay to play which is legit isn't it?? In 30 seconds of thought this off season we should have targeted the portal for a RB, Safety, D-Line, LB. Pick your top 3 for each. Offer $20,000 to your number 1 target at each position, give them 10 days, move onto the next after 10 days and so on. For incoming recruiting, take your top 20 prospects and throw $10,000 in top of each offer, take as many as you can get. (maybe you get 5 of these that you wouldn't get without) Rough budget of $120,000 to pretty much instantly make the program better (in theory). Stack W's then everything will fall in place. This process is so simple in my mind, but takes some balls to just call it what it is......paying for top players.
  19. Solution to most issues- NIL Collective I want to win yesterday. Giving to a specific player could be an immediate impact.(Like maybe drop $20K to the Wisconsin RB that went to the Cats) NIL Collective helps- 1. Recruiting and talent - yep (take the Jacks/Bison roster, switch a few star players with UND and everything changes) I am saying we are 4-5 high level players away most seasons. 2. Bubba - yep (coaches look smarter with better players) 3. Athletic Department Funding - Create the wins and the funding will come We should focus on the NIL paying for players 1st and the rest will follow. I have given my 2 cents to the athletic department and FB staff. There is some communication challenges but nobody really follows them. (like how does the Collective know what player to target/pay without someone telling them) Show me a squeaky clean Title 9 and no NIL school and most times I'll show you a perennial .500 program.
  20. Winner right here, readable numbers would be nice!!
