This staff also gave Joe the starting job over Bartels their first year, and he was just getting into the groove when he got hurt. I trust the coaches as well......however if I am being honest, if Studs goes down I'm going to feel nervous as hell if Brad gets put into the game, way more nervous than I would if Joe got put into the game (assuming he had never been moved from the QB position). If Brad does get put into the game, hopefully he will end up showing why the coaches did what they did.........but I am still going to be nervous as hell until I see him do a few things and not turn the ball over lol.

Good reading for a Friday, thanks Teeder! Just think it was only two years ago when at fall camp there were so many questions and so many holes to fill, QB controversy as well. Even last year....who was going to be our RB etc. This year we still have some questions to be answered, OL and DB in particular but we have come a long ways in two years as to what our expectations were just two years ago at this time. It's nice knowing that so many of the players have been in the system for a few years now too and don't have to 'think' so much and can just react.

I'm not in the expert group by my prediction is 8-3 but I think we could go 9-2 if everything goes our way, no key players injured etc. etc.. However Grady not coming back, the Colorado DB transfer changing back to MSU, and JIS leaving has tempered my enthusiasm for the Bowling Green game. I will still be going into that game wanting to win, and I do think we have a chance......however that extra help in the secondary against an FBS team that wings the ball around would have helped, and our O line with 4 new starters....may not be fully gelled by the second game. We will likely need a lot of things to go right to win that game, at least we'll get a good idea how much (or if) our secondary has improved from last year. The schedule is in our favor this year, but you never know who could be this years Portland State.

Just when I was thinking the new logo actually looked pretty good on the side of the helmet........then I see this.....still think the interlocking ND looked great on the side of the helmet. I get Bubba going with the new logo on the side of the helmet to try and help us move on....I think the new helmets look good......as long as I don't see the old helmets next to it
-
I like the idea for the numbers on the side, but I was hoping the numbers would be just slightly smaller......and gone with the same type of font as the interlocking ND had....if that is possibly. I'm not totally thrilled with the font, but I didn't at all like the font on the SDSU helmet from the one picture that somebody posted earlier. I do think the logo does actually look pretty good on the side of the helmet!

Losing Grady is truly a loss for UND, but a much much bigger loss for Grady himself.

If there was 10k last year against Drake, I think they'll be at least 10,500 to 11,000 this year unless we are 0-2 going into that game.

Exactly......I'm looking forward to hopefully the NAU game being for all of the conference marbles and the NAU QB needing an extra long ice bath after the game.

Back up in Bismarck for a few weeks, saw this sweet pontoon in Lakewood Harbor this past weekend. Not sure what thread I should post this in, but thought I should post it somewhere.

Exactly....last year we were 7-4 which is definitely better than 6-5 and by most peoples opinion we should have made the playoffs. Making the playoffs should help you in recruiting the following year and help the perception of the program. We want to win now, not wait another 2-3 years from now. I don't at all consider us mortgaging the future for short term gain by picking up one or two more transfers than we normally would in the off season. In another year or two those types of transfers will drop.

lol man.....you seriously need a life.

Well if you are an NFL fan....then you do obviously like football. A couple reasons currently to watch UND football, Santiago alone is probably worth the price of admission. That kid is fun to watch and you never know when he is going to take it to the house. Also our defense is really fun to watch shutting down the run and getting after the QB, hopefully the pass defense will pick up this year. Plus in general it is pretty good football and pretty cheap entertainment for watching a good caliber of football, and supporting your school. I think the atmosphere will start building again this year and will make it even more fun to scream and yell when we are on defense and it is 3rd and long, and you can help be a part of that. Plus tailgating before the games are fun. Those are just a couple of reasons.

For following Sioux sports as much as you do, apparently you weren't aware that we were and are thin at CB and needed and still need some immediate help. I'm pretty sure most all of us on here and Bubba as well would agree that it's not the intent to try and make a living off transfers and a couple of years from now I think we will rarely taking FBS transfers. However we are thin at some spots and we want to win now...not wait another 2-3 years. It's really a simple concept, but I guess you don't get it (as well as some other Bison posters who like to bash us for it) We should have made the playoffs last year, JIS played last year where as a true freshman that we could have given a scholarship to probably wouldn't have been ready to play last year. I definitely agree that many do not turn out, however I'm still glad they are trying to fill the gaps where needed to win now. Pretty easy to say that coming from your position of depth at every position after winning multiple championships.

Do teams keep a backup FB on their 52 man roster (I'm sure it depends on the team)? With a pro bowl FB already on their team I'm starting to think it may be difficult for Will to make the 52 man roster, unless of course they are wanting a backup FB.

Exactly.....he sits there and reads the board every day....and waits for his opportunity to take a shot at UND. Kind of pathetic, but I guess it helps his self esteem. Let's remember.....believe he is the one who thought........"Wentz is....meh... just ok". Although now I bet outside of this board he probably gets a boner bragging about Wentz going number 2 (no pun intended on the number 2 ) . He probably already bought an Eagles jersey.

Saw this post explaining some of Stitt's offense for Montana...... http://insidethepylon.com/film-study/film-study-u/offense-film-study-u/2016/06/06/bob-stitts-offense-montanta-fly-sweep-screen-concepts/

I agree it's pretty hard to know before a game is played, look at the preseason Big Sky picks last year. We may not even know for sure what our team is until 3 weeks into the season. If we beat SB in a fairly close game, and lost against BG but not in a blow out I don't think we'll really know for sure what we'll have. Although we will know how improved our secondary is after the BG game that's for sure. I'm a little afraid our O line could still be learning those first few games of the year, just like last year....and we might be pretty inconsistent on offense the first few games. If Grady comes back...that will certainly help that situation.
-
Initially coming into this year I was somewhat thinking the same thing, that I'd be ok with being a little under the radar to start the year. However after getting a little bit of recognition in the preseason polls it was nice, and I also think it can help the players get even more excited about the upcoming year not to mention the casual fan. I think Bubba will do a good job keeping things into perspective to the guys that there still is a lot to prove this year and to still play like the underdog, yet confident underdog. I'm hoping the playoff snubbing last year keeps a chip on our shoulder all year so that we don't let up and have that consistent play all year long. #LeaveNoDoubt

I hope Bowling Green looks at us the same way.....and over looks us.
-
This is great news!! It's like Christmas in June! Even though our corners will have another year of experience and coaching under their belt, until I see them turn their heads and make a play on those deep balls it still concerns me. Having a quality player like this in the backfield sure will help us match up a little better when we play Bowling Green.
-
Totally agree, if we had at least one of those guys in there for that game I think we hang on and win. With both of those guys out there was such a huge huge dropoff between them and the backups. If Keaton should happen to go down for a couple of games again this year, hopefully more depth and experience all the way around in the secondary will prevent teams from being able to just chuck it up down field and make big plays if our offense is sputtering. We need to be able to beat average or poor teams if Keaton goes out for a while, last year we just couldn't do it with the safeties out and poor cornerback play.
-
I love how you sit in the shadows, and just wait for the opportunity to get a slightly negative post in against UND. Maybe if an NDSU player hadn't dove at the back of our players legs and broken it, we wouldn't have been quite as depleted in the secondary that game.

If I was ruler of the world, I'd probably want to hit a button and reset things back to before every team was doing alternate uniforms and keep it that way. When I turn on my TV on Saturday's in the fall now days I can't even tell who is playing half the time until I see the names of the teams. Grey may be the next color that is over done, but the whole alternate uniform thing in general is now over done. In my ruler of the world scenario I'd still let Oregon have the alternate uniforms as they would come up with some good ones, plus when you saw a crazy uniform you kind of new it was them as they were about the only ones doing it initially. I get why teams do it though and I get why we are doing it as well, but now that everybody is doing it I don't think it really adds a whole lot to the overall experience. Since we are doing it though, I just want whatever we do to look pretty good. Grey may be pretty common, but I never expected us to go with a super flashy outlandish type of alternate uniform.
