Perception of your program and history obviously is still playing a factor in the polls even after 5 weeks in. We must take care of business this weekend. I'll take even a 1 point win...because a win is a win......but I'd really like to beat Montana 35-17 or something like that. Idaho St. is not even ranked and they just have 1 loss which is an FBS loss. They play at UC Davis next week, that should be interesting and will likely be a shootout. If Idaho State beats UC Davis, will be curious to see what will happen in the polls....they will definitely be in...but how high. Pollsters might just say.....ahhh UC Davis was over-rated and it's not that big of a win. The whole MVFC teams beat each other up because they are all so good, but if a Big Sky team beats another one....it's because none of them are good. Portland State > Montana > UNI

It would be nice to run the table, but if we go 5-1 the rest of the way we'll still be in the playoffs. Many teams have clunkers during the year so I won't be surprised if we drop a game somewhere. We do need to beat both Weber and Montana though. The NAU game is the game on the schedule that has worried me the most since the start of the season, just because it's a game we should win but NAU always seems to be so up and down. Let's start this weekend and beat Montana and take it from there.

I'm going to miss UND being in Big Sky and the watchbigsky. Not sure how many games I will even get to see once we join the MVFC, the only one I see on ESPN3 that I can get right now is the USD game.

USD went down the field like a hot knife through butter against Missouri State on the opening drive. 2 minute opening drive for a TD. Maybe Missouri State drops down and acts like the old Missouri State today.

So really the only question now is, does SU still win by more or less than 10.

I agree, overall I thought that was an awesome episode. I really miss the full weekly football show like they use to have, but these are well done and it's really cool to see video from the trip and everything.

Watched the first half last night and you are right. UNC got good yardage almost every time they ran the ball in the first half they should have stuck with that, for some reason they kept trying to pass and were inept at it against us. Montana is supposedly more balanced 50/50 run/pass with their new staff....I'm sure they will take notice of Idaho State and UNC rushing the ball pretty successfully on us. I think we are more capable of stopping the run than we showed but we will see. Hopefully Schmidt will have them ready to go and a good game plan in place for Montana.

The Big Sky has been a little odd since we've joined, seems like there is a team that comes from almost nowhere and is good. SUU I think won the conference a few years ago, Weber was a bottom feeder a couple years ago and now seem to be a top team once again this year. Some could say we came from nowhere to share the title with EWU the one year. Portland State.....can't remember if they won it or not but they were towards the top one year. Sure has been interesting each year to see who will actually be good and towards the top. UC Davis also making noise this year.

Exactly, I will take our defensive performance last week any day of the year. They had 140 yards of offense and 7 points with 3 minutes left in the game, they got 60 yards on the last drive against the second string.

And I guess to add to that, similar to what someone else said right after the UNC win........the UNC win was a nice comfortable win, we dominated all of the stats.....we did make a number of errors though, but even with a good win where the game was never really in doubt......I didn't get totally excited, I need to see more. I need to see us give it to Montana next week before I am truly excited. I do have a little optimism after the UNC win......but am I excited excited......no....not yet.

Not totally disagreeing with you that we have a lot of things to work on, but I believe they were only down 7 in the 4th Quarter against #6 Weber. Weber must really suck if only ahead by 7 going into 4th Quarter at home against UNC. If we beat Montana next week, I'm sure some will say Montana isn't that good. Just beat who is on your schedule. I think it's possible we could lose 3 more games this year.....I also think it's possible that we only drop one more, and really I think it is possible that we could win all of the remaining games on our schedule. I don't think that will happen though, I'm sure we will stumble at least once as we do not consistently play well and special teams are super iffy. I stopped doing predictions each week on this team because one thing I learned is, I have no clue what is going to actually happen come game time with this team recently.

The OL have definitely stepped up this year, especially considering the injuries. if you told me 1 or 2 OL starters would be out every game through 5 games, I would have thought we would have been screwed. Sucks Nortel is out for the year but hopefully with the Bye week the rest can heal up and play, and stay mostly healthy the rest of the way. Since still some young guys on there, particularly the true freshman, hopefully they only continue to improve even more throughout the year. Great job so far though OL!

I've thought since last year that maybe we would be better off starting out with Brady on that first drive and pound the rock, especially since we tend to run it up the gut on the first play. Wear them out a little with Brady, and then second drive bring in Santiago. Plus Brady is more likely to always get positive yardage and move the chains which is what you want on that opening drive. However I think our opening drives this year have been pretty successful for the most part, but I can't remember each.

I'd almost say this is a Must win game. 1. There will likely be a good crowd because it's against Montana, and need to recoup some of the enthusiasm that was lost with home loss to Idaho State. If we lose to Montana, I'd say the casual fans may mostly be done for the year and will be poor attendance going forward. A win and there will be some excitement again. 2. We need another win against a ranked team and we need to start climbing back into the polls. 3. We need a Montana pelt this year in a bad way.

I believe they do graduate a lot of seniors that start and/or play a lot though. Their cupboard is pretty full though for guys to step in.

They do graduate quite a bit after this year, and we have a lot of guys coming back. SU reloads quickly though so they will still be very good. 2019 should be a good game.

I agree with you on this, we should win this game...especially at home. To me this is a MUST win game, I don't think Bubba has beaten Montana yet. There are no injury excuses this time, we've got to beat them. The game still makes me a little nervous just because we have not beat them recently, and I don't think I can handle losing to them again and having to listen to their fan base. I want to beat them by 20 plus! And for whatever it's worth, other people think to seem it matters if you beat EWU and Montana even if they are having down years and we just haven't done that, yet.

Sure is nice to finally have a Bye week during the year, hopefully some guys heal up. Dont think we've had all 5 OL starters healthy and playing at the same time all year, 1 or 2 starters out all of the time. Sounds like one is now out for the year, we just cant catch a break there. Even so, with the injuries the line has done a pretty good job, sure would have bren nice though if they would have been mostly healthy. Nice seeing Idaho State and Sam Houston win as others have mentioned, cant have that dreaded bad loss on the resume to a really bad team like Idaho State was the one year. Sure would have made a win over them look better too, really sucks we let that one slip by. We seriously need that Montana pelt in two weeks. Go Hawks!

Idaho State up 42-21 at home against NAU in the 3rd with about 5 minutes left....on the verge of scoring again. They have 200 yards rushing. They have improved and are not a doormat this year.
