It's not going to be Fruechte, it wouldn't have drug out this long if it was going to be him. Yes ,Kelly said would like salary to be 350k, that is a wish/hope. We do need to up the salary but it also needs to have incentives in it. How aboutv300k but 5k for every win? You go 10-2 then you make 350k. If they increase salary to 300k or more, even more reason it probably wouldn't be Fruechte who is making what, 110k today? If you are going to give it to him you could keep it at 250k with lots of incentives to see how he does. Hell I'm quite sure Fruechte would take the position if it was only 200k.

Right. Can you imagine if Bubba stepped down last year and we hired him as the new HC, every single person here would have lost it. I do agree though that he seems like a good leader and coach.

Did Deboer take his existing DC with him when he made his move to other teams? If so that might be why, he was already happy with his existing DC so there wasn't really an open spot for Schmidt to get promoted to. I don't know if that's the case or not, just saying.

We may have less big names hit the portal than we would have for this exact same reason. Definitely hope Seidl stays. He could be deadly as the starter.

How many spots will we have available to add? We will probably want a few guys to hit the portal to free up some spots.

I think part of keeping all 23 is recruits know there will likely be a lot of FBS guys looking for a home so probably wise to stick with the offer they had. Nonetheless still a great job by the staff and impressive that we didn't lose any. With the right coach and the way the portal might be this year we could turn this around quickly. I was going to somewhat mentally check out of UND football this off season, but now with the HC change I'm excited again! Hopefully we nail this!

Yeah because every flight coming into Grand Forks has UND football HC applicant on it.

I think whoever it is will have equaled Bubba's playoff win total in 11 years, by his second season.

Im sure Schmidt has many connections, but nobody in their right mind is going to go from Washington or Alabama to UND are they? Even if they were made the OC or DC they would be making way less. Would have to be a pretty low end coach from any of those schools, to go to UND unless they really felt confident it could somehow be a stepping stone.

This is all happening at a good time actually. If we get the right guy we could pick up some key FBS drop downstairs and turn this around pretty quickly. That HS QB that committed to UND looked really good, Im sure Beau could secure that commitment. At 52 Beau is getting towards tail end of his career, would UND be a stepping stone or an ending spot? He hasn't been as successful lately, but he did a great job at EWU with crap facilities. Seems like he'd be able to do well recruiting with the facilities we've got.

If Bubba will be here next year I might have to institute a self imposed ban from this site so I just don't think about about UND football again until August. It's not worth it.

10 points for Fruechte’s offense and keeping a guy in as starting QB the entire game that likely wouldn't start for a single other FCS schools. I liked Fruechte, but that is pathetic.

Not one snap for Jerry in a meaningless game that we have been out of since the end of the third quarter. Are Fruechte and Bubba playing a game with us and doing this just to get our goat, or are they both that inept.

Even for Bubba and this staff, this is truly mind boggling that he is still in there.

Living in AZ....watched the new young HC get hired last year. Dude is so crazy energetic and only 34. Wasn't sure if it was going to work or not but after being horrible, ASU is now 9-2 this year and the best team they hsve had in 10 years.

Joel will be let go. That's all that is going to happen, unfortunately. Bubba is going to put the blame on him. This is almost guaranteed to be what happens. Which made me think, are all assistants and coordinators on one year contracts? So we can let Joel go without costing us anything? I wpuld imagine so.
