  1. It feels like we are due for a solid game after two crappy ones. Although given how the season has gone...I could see us down 3 at half or up 21.....who knows. Glad Z is resting one more week, we should be able to win this one without him. Need him 100 percent for USD as that game is going to be a physical one. Would be nice to have Red back this week though and get some of that speed around the edge going.
  2. I recalled at least one run where he either bounced it out or it was designed to go outside and we got a decent game. Made me wonder if we should have run more quick type pitches outside. Will be nice to have Z back. Hope Red is back to 100 percent too to run those quick sweep passes around the edge.
  3. I agree with pretty much most of this. While I definitely would have liked to seen Feeney in the UNI game, while Tommy does have some limitations/short comings or whatever you want to call it......he isn't the sole reason for the crappy last two weeks. Main reason is the OL and not being able to run the ball. Don't think I've heard OL coach called out once, but we blame Danny. Which Danny does have to take a large brunt of it. Against UNI Red dropped a pass in end zone. On Saturday on our drive to kick tying FG Tommy rolled to his right and threw a perfect ball 15-20 yards down field on the money to Dennis who was running across the field. Ball was pinpoint exactly where you would want it to be and Dennis dropped it. Fortunately Tommy made a long scramble to pick up about 25 yards after that dropped pass. The long pass to Bo early on the game was definitely underthrown, however a defender was running full steam straight towards Tommy and he couldn't really step into it. Who knows he might have still under thrown it. Late in the game we had first and goal at the 3 yard line. I think we were all like..... don't get cute Danny just run it in. We handed off to Skokna for 0 yards, might have lost half a yard. Not going to lie, after seeing that I was like crap..... I'm not sure if we can even run it in from here. So Danny did get 'cute" on the next play and it worked and went for a TD. Bottom line is the OL needs to better for us to be a better team. It seemed so easy against NDSU. Danny might have to stick with it more, however when we get stuffed for zero yards on a handful of plays.....it's easy to abandon that. Being more wide open in the passing attack may help that though, we need to not be afraid to throw an interception. Honestly I think our offense is best when there are like 2-3 minutes left in second quarter or game.....we've seen to have a lot of quick drives the end of a half or game the past 2 years. Sure part of that is teams don't want to let a deep one by them, but I think part of it is is being more aggressive and taking some chances. Would like to see Klein in more and get more opportunities.
  4. I think the penalty you were thinking of was after the extra point. It was after the play so ISU hard to kick off 15 yards further back when they kicked off, which ended up setting us up on the 40 after Skokna's return. So no coaching mistake there. But the decision to go for 2 early was really dumb and could have cost us.
  5. Agree, they are pretty predictable at this point. Although on the one late in the game when we were at about mid field and it was 3rd and long ...we threw one of those.....in my mind I was thinking they thought if we got close to the first down we would go for it because we're on their side of the field. But we came up like 4 yards short and punted anyway.
  6. I am a little surprised we don't run Romfo more in the Wildcat, especially when we are struggling on offense.
  7. Most haven't worked this year. Which might be due to we don't throw further than 5 yards down field on 95 percent of our plays. Tommy has had to throw a few into the ground because there was nothing there.
  8. That is definitely good for us. I think towards the end of the game they showed that UND has somewhere around the 6th toughest strength of schedule so far? Thinking it was the schedule so far This season, but not the full season....didn't catch that for sure.
  9. It was Bubba's, if not.....then he's not really the head coach.
  10. I'm not saying it's not a good win, it was a very good win. It will be our only good win though if we lose to USD. If we lose to USD in a close one 7-4 probably gets us in, if it's another 27-0 loss on the road.....I dunno.
  11. 7-4 our only good win is against NDSU in our SB at home.
  12. We HAVE to be more aggressive over the middle and down field. As I said in a post an hour or two ago, I don't care if we end up throwing a pick at some point. Sure we do get one big play later because defense is all up tight. But we cant continue to throw 22 1 yard passes a game to set up 1 long pass. We can only do that if we are averaging 5 yards up the middle on first down. That semi long completion to Elidor against SU early in the game was an important play to me in that game because it at least gave the impression that we might try and throw over you.
  13. I'd rather risk Tommy throwing a pick 15 yards over the middle of the field than 22 1 yard pass plays. Something has to change to open things up if we are unable to pound up the middle on the ground.
  14. I'd still like to hear from head coach why we went for 2, I'd like to hear the rationale for that. I mean I don't think there is one, seemed to make no sense given the situation. Maybe there is rationale and I'm missing it, so would love to hear it.
  15. He did play like the season was on the line at the end there that is for sure. He made plays.
  16. At least you have the option of taking a pill for that.
  17. I do agree with that. As crappy as the game was, maybe something miraculously will come out of that comeback and spark us..... we'll see.
  18. Welp.... we are still on track for 7-4 season.... possible home playoff win and then getting destroyed on the road.
  19. I already know what Bubba will say on the presser. Somehing like......"I thought we had a good week of practice and we're focused, we just didn't execute that well and the other team made some big plays.
  20. He made the last drive of the 4th quarter happen too. He hit Dennis on the hands on a perfect throw and he dropped it. While Tommy does have a ceiling, he does do a lot of things well.
  21. You always go on defense first in OT if you have the choice. Then you know if you need a TD or just a FG
  22. Wow these refs don't even know how OT works
  23. Going for 2 there is only 2nd to going for it on 4th against SU. Two dumbest coaching decisions ever.
  24. At this point just win damn it! I don't want the season to be over before the month of October ends!
  25. A missed FG will top this off perfectly
