  1. Well Fruechte was the OC last year and it didn't change from whhat it was before. We'll see if Eric suggests to get them involved more.
  2. So that means our entire starting OL is back next year right? Hopefully the younger guys will be even better after a full years worth of experience.
  3. If he is guaranteed to get a million or more in NIL I'd probably do that if I was him. Will he actually make an NFL roster when it comes down to it?
  4. Normally I would agree with this. But after seeing Bubba sleeping in team meetings, I really can't blame any player or coach for leaving to go to a program that had the focus and leadership to win a championship. It was 100 percent clear the previous staff didn't have that and it was on full display the entire second half of the season. I would be hard to give my all to a staff I didn't feel was capable.
  5. In that case I hope he goes somewhere and gets some money. Seems like a quality young man.
  6. Wow football has just gotten extra crazy now that everyone has NIL's going and stuff. SDSU coach leaves after two years, if he takes some of their best players....SDSU could be looking at a rebuilding year next year with a new coach. Either way I'm glad Bubba stepped down and we've got Schmidt who has already proven to be better in the portal in a short period of time. Times have changes quickly in the past five years and I finally think we have the coach and the facilities to not be left in the dust amidst all of this change, but hopefully we can capitalize on it.
  7. I don't see how this could be true Regarding Gronowski. Pretty sure he is all out of eligibility as he was same class as Schuster I believe.
  8. Will be interesting to see what happens to Danny.

  10. No doubt, was so damn tired being the laughing stalk of the FCS Fans Nation on FB, and just not having any respect in general from so many other fan bases.
  11. I am the one who started this I guess as I said this board would be salivating if we got a transfer QB from USC. I wasn't saying the dude was a fure sure top notch guy, my point was more that other FCS schools would be getting drop downs from big name schools, meanwhile in the past we were bringing in D2 guys. Schmidt is obviously changing that already. But a month ago if we found out we were getting a QB transfer from USC, you are crazy if you don't think this board would have been excited as hell about that. Doesn't mean he would have ended up being our savior, but we would have been excited. I mean what is the biggest recent transfer we've been excited about lately.....maybe Eilioder from USD? Not opposed to bringing in the right D2 guys at times, there can be some gems. The Winona State guy could be good. Nice to see such a huge change in momentum for UND football the past few weeks. Makes the Bison winning another title in January slightly.....slightly easier to bare.
  12. Is there running QB gonna take over next year, or do they have someone else that is going to step up? Miller will be big shoes to fill, but they've been filling big shoes at the QB position for over 10 years.
  13. Hudl says 4.4 also.
  14. I agree, how cheap would that make us seem if we had the head coach be the DC. Didn't we have to wait 30 days for the announcement for Bubba to be hired. Schmidt was hired in what 10 days, many assistants are in place. Would rather Schmidt get the right guys than worry about how quickly they are hired. I'm confident it will all come together.
  15. We would be salivating if we ever got a transfer like this. Hopefully with the new staff we can get some higher end potential portal transfers.
  16. Would think that we might see more movement both in and out, portal wise, for UND in the spring. Maybe after new DC and staff are hired and get to see guys in spting practice and try and make some decisions as who they see has a future at UND in seeing the field, and who does not.
  17. Best thing to happen to UND football in a long time. Forced the change that we needed to really try and advance our program and be a contender.
  18. Let's remember Elioder left USD to come to UND, so did the UNI RB. With the coaching staff change and new facilities we have a lot to offer. Thinking Schmidt will help change the attitude and perception. I'm not saying we killed it in the portal, just saying UND has a lot to offer moving forward.
  19. You gotta think this coaching change will invigorate the guys who stay and truly get them excited about next year. I'm sure many of the players felt pretty close to how we all felt at the end of this season.
  20. I think there was an O lineman 5-6 ago, was Coe his last name, something like that?
  21. Might get the best of both worlds and get both.
  22. Hopefully no big names or OL leave, but might be good for a few to hit the portal to open up some spots for us to add.
  23. This. Bubba was a defensive coach. Look at offense under Rudy, the offense did a 180 when Danny was hired. Do we think Bubba all of the sudden said hey let's run a bunch of trick plays. Then as soon as Danny left we stopped running trick plays? No, it's because he put the OC in full control of calling plays, as he should have done. Fruechte called the plays, including that 2 point conversion.
  24. I agree with this, but he has more to prove before becoming our HC. I mentioned it yesterday, if Bubba stepped down last year and we hired the OC from Winona State to be our HC we all would hsve lost our sh*t over that.
  25. I'm sure there was quite a bit of interest in this job and probably a fair amount of calls and discussions which weeded people out who weren't going to make it into the top three, so they never filled out a formal application.
