Yep. I think there was either an article or somebody pointed it out a year or two ago about how advantageous it has been for SU to go deep into the playoffs every year. All of their young players get an entire extra month of practice every year, then add on SU blowing 3-4 teams out a year giving them actual playing time. The cumulative affect of that over time adds up. Hopefully this will be the norm for us too and we will see it make an impact.

SU has a lot better lineman and other players around him on both offense and defense. We have handled a lot of good QB's this year though, but to think this game will be anything other than a dog fight is crazy IMO. We will finally need a true 4 quarter game to pull that one out. At least we know Schmidt will have our team fully prepared!

Yeah let's start propping our QB up as a Heisman candidates before the SU game, I'm sure that wouldn't give them any extra motivation to want to completely shut him down.

Part of that may be due to our 2nd string being in the 4th quarter and teams getting late TD'S.

Agree, although I recall even back in the 90's when we had the better team, we struggled to win down there, and dropped a few also. Schmidt has this team ready each week though, and as AJS said.....Defense travels.

I had this game down as a loss back in August, that has changed. Should be able to win this one. Still tough place to play but Schmidt will have the boys ready. Love how he preaches about overcoming 'hard' or difficult situations. Prior to the start of the season I said one of the biggest changes I thought we would see this year is a complete shift in the mindset and mental toughness of the team. That has definitely played out. Although our Defense is just flat out better than last year, and QB play is so much better too.

CJ's injury may end up being a good thing as it gave the new kid a chance. Would be nice to go back to the days of not being nervous on XP's and short FG's.

I sure hope he does end up being like Vinatieri. I missed the 4th quarter on Saturday so I didn't know who missed the FG and hadn't looked it up. I still thought it may have been a bit premature after just one game the previous week to get that excited about the backup kicker. But CJ hasn't looked very good this year, so I get why the excitement for someone new.

Pretty sure there were a couple of comments about how good the kicker looked in last week's game.

A FG from the 4.5 yard line is about like an extra point, that wouldn't prove anything. Going for it there was the right call.

We went for it on 4th and 1 from the 5 and only got half a yard, ran Brunell up the middle.

I want to see JTJ and the entire 2nd string offense playing the entire 4th quarter.

Sac St. returns kickoff for a TD but gets called back on holding. Then just fumbled a punt leading to another Montana TD. Montana lucking out like usual.

Montana down 14-7 to Sac State. Do we want Montana to lose this one? Thinking so.
