  1. Now THIS is why flew up here for the weekend!! When I bought my ticket back in August it just felt like this was going to be the year and absolutely HAD to be the year. The SDSU game had me worried and doubting, but as I mentioned earlier this week I felt our players had to be taking this way more personal than SU after getting spanked year after year. Today they came out and did something about it. Also love hearing the 2003 team was up here this week. It just added to the feeling like it had to happen this year. This was a long time coming, congratulations to Bubba and all the coaches staff and players. For me that absolute dime that Tommy dropped in to Elioder and the CJ pick were the two plays of the game. OL was amazing but I think hitting a pass like that to Elidor was an important play in the game. Let's keep it going next week at UNI!!
  2. Flying up to Fargo tonight and then heading up to GF Saturday morning. I'll probably buy some beverages before leaving Fargo, but was wondering if there is beer for sale in the tailgating area and/or food?
  3. With his success in the CFL, do you think he might try to see if he can make an NFL roster sometime?
  4. Bubba was a good defensive coach. You would think all this week he would be helping Joel and working together with him to work on defensive schemes to stop the SU ground game. I'd love to see the same type of defensive performance we saw against MSU in 2019 and against NDSU in 2021.
  5. I agree with you. But actually didn't Boise use a half back pass against us? SDSU also used a trick play against us one of the last 2-3 times we played them. Totally get your point though and agree. Against these really stout defenses, we have to use the right trick play of we are going to do it.... otherwise they sniff it out. Also trick plays are harder for UND than almost anyone else because everyone is aware we run them all the time so they are always looking for it.
  6. I'm not going to diss Cam.....until we beat him. He has gotten the last laugh 3 straight times against us.
  7. Yes that was the game I was thinking of. Kostich Kostich'd that day.
  8. Do you think they are practicing more this week with having two NG's in at the same time? We need to figure out how to stop the plow once they get it hitched up.....which I'm sure they will have it hitched up on the very first snap. Wasn't that FBS DE transfer pretty good size, maybe he gets more reps this week? In the 90's I always felt our coaches were an advantage and have things schemed up properly going into the NDSU game and other big games and have us an edge. Sadly I generally don't feel that way and haven't for a while. Danny has been really good at times though and I do like him, but we have still struggled on offense on many big games. But a lot of that has come down to we couldn't run the ball with any consistency. If you can do that, it makes everything easier. I do recall when Montana State came into the Alerus 7-8 years ago and were highly ranked and were averaging like 300 yards on the ground.....and we had some injuries on the DL. I thought there was NO way we were going to stop them, but we shut them down pretty well and won that game. We need to pull off that kind of magic again.

    Polls

Yep, our body of work so far this year.....beating Drake, NAU, and WIU and losing the way we did in the other two....in no way warrants #7 IMO. Hopefully after Saturday that will be warranted.
  10. I heard he has also biked by NDSU practices also.....so there is that.
  11. I think one of these would be most likely as well. He's been at UND for 5 years, might just want to finish up a school and enjoy his last year instead of going to a new school where he knows nobody and start over. Would depend on how badly he wanted to play.
  12. Agree. That SDSU pummeling just took a lot out of fans hopes, was like a gut punch to everyone. That said, come Saturday I think all UND fans will be pretty pumped and it will feel pretty electric in the Alerus! We need to get off to a good start. I wonder if we take the ball again right away. Would be pretty demoralizing if we kicked off and NDSU went right down and scored.
  13. Totally agree, if we win this even by one point.....we are now having visions of possibly going 9-2 or 8-3 and we are feeling really good. We lose this, most likely we don't make the playoffs unless we win our the rest of the way which probably won't happen, and we are feeling like the season is sorta over. There have been a lot of big games over the past couple of years, but this one just feels like it's the biggest because if we can't beat SU at home when they are beatable....I don't know when it's ever gonna happen. And to your point.....I have no gut feeling about us as to if we are going to win this game, get beat.....or get beat by 2 ore more scores. I have no clue what is going to happen on Saturday.
  14. Pretty much, NDSU has had us figured out for a while on offense (Tommy/Danny). Last year we started our gangbusters on offense against SDSU, but then they figured us out and we haven't been able to do much since then.
  15. Exactly nobody has defended that throw, it was a bad throw and one that Tommy normally makes. But like death and taxes.....the only thing I know for sure we will see that pic posted at least 5-10 more times by him. I like Tommy and generally he has been good but he absolutely has some limitations, and really hasn't taken a step forward from last year to this year. I would have liked to seen Feeney in earlier last week to get him more Live reps, and if our offense is doing nothing against SU I hope they bring Feeney it to shake things up or something. This Saturday is a must win for the program.
  16. I think the big difference between Gronowski starting as a true freshman and Kaminski is there was nobody proven ahead of him. I haven't looked any of this up but I think SDSU graduates their stud QB.......and the next year Gronowski took over and beat out the other guy who they were not maybe even that high in, it's not like Gronowski came in and took the starting spot from a 3 year starter that was on the Walter Payton watch list. To your point though SDSU would have absolutely won that Championship game if he was healthy the whole game IMO. But I would also bet even Kaminski's dad is probably ok with Jerry red shirting this year. I am also with you though us struggling to move the ball with Tommy in against NDSU this week. We can't dink and dunk against good teams all day long and expect to win.
  17. I liked seeing the Romfo package and plays, and they probably wanted to run a few of those plays in a real game instead of just in practice. However, seems like that could have maybe been a surprise wrinkle against NDSU and caught them off guard a bit. Running those plays against SU though is going to be met with much stiffer resistance I'm sure. Danny needs to have a masterful game plan called on Saturday.
  18. I've seen that a few times but it has been a while, forgot both schools recruited him. Didn't Bo's dad go to NDSU or something and NDSU never offered him? Bo makes plays every game though, if we had 22 Bo's we'd be sitting pretty good. We need a big unexpected play to come out of nowhere.
  19. I honestly might have to do this, to make up for my Boise and SDSU losses. Although if NDSU is favored by 5 and they won by 3 that would be a double whammy loss. I think it's going to be a tight game.....with the winner winning by 5 or less.
  20. Probably the biggest blowout and one of the crappiest teams we've played in Homecoming too. There was never going to be a ton of excitement in that game IMO.... because we all felt we'd win by 3-4 scores. We scored on every possession and got a pick 6 on defense, so the team handled their end of things on the field. That long drive by then in 2nd quarter was an energy suck though for sure, but even then we still limited them to a FG and then had a quick drive for a TD before half. If we woulda been playing a team like SIU or something I think there would a been a lot more energy in the Alerus.
  21. The upper classmen have lost to NDSU 3-4 straight years, getting butts kicked in most of those. If it's not personal for them.....they need to check their pulse. And I think Mooney was from MN not ND. But yes.....someone needs to make a Mooney type play next Saturday!
  22. Yeah pretty sure there was at least one play that was supposed to be a pass and I think is why they kept him in instead of Feeney, so they could show a pass play with him so other teams have to think it is possible could pass. I wonder if they have a traditional option run out of that package.
  23. After the SDSU game I was less confident about how we would do against NDSU, but I don't see them beating us by 21. I think it's a toss up game at this point. We are at home which is good, but we haven't won a big game in forever.
  24. Yep. Wish we wouldn't have given up those two garbage TD's against them. We had a 27 point lead on them with 7 minutes left in the game. Either way still a good looking win for us and for the MVFC vs Big Sky.
