    2018 Season

Is he projected to be a Guard or Tackle?
  2. If I recall the first game of the year the TE's had 4 receptions and a TD by halftime. You're right though, the last couple of games there haven't been many passes because we were up and the OL and the RB's were rolling, so I guess that is ok. Also I'm not sure if we've run a screen pass since that first game either, probably did a couple times I just can't remember. Weber has a stout defense, likely need to break open the playbook a bit more this Saturday. I was totally ok with running the ball down their throats in the second half the last three games though.
  3. I'd take that. I guess we would either put up, or shut up.....our comments about UNI depending on how the outcome of that game went.
  4. This is basically like a playoff game, we are fighting for our playoff lives on Saturday. Need to do whatever it takes to win this game!!
  5. Hopefully next year McKinney or Greibel, or another guy who can make guys miss.....can solidify that position and we actually have somebody back there that can do something other than just fair catch. Obviously Santiago could. I remember every time Dressler fielded a punt.....you half expected him to take it to the house.....you never wanted to take your bathroom break while the other team was punting....you might miss something. Even though Wanzek fumbled, I'm probably ok having him back their against Weber verses putting Greibel in for his first time ever fielding punts in a college game. I really hope our special teams hit the bottom last week. I know we won't be nailing 47 yard FG's against Weber...but all other facets need to solid against Weber....it's going to be a tight game.
  6. IMO you can pretty much throw out anything said in the middle of the game in the heat of the moment as a knee jerk reaction. In the heat of the moment in middle of the game I'd probably rip on my own mother if she 'dropped the ball' or whatever. Not that a person has freedom to say anything during a game......but anybody sitting in stands at any football game anywhere.....if a guy completely screws up...drops an easy pass...or whatever...….you know people are yelling stupid stuff to themselves in the stands at the game and are momentarily pissed off. It just looks worse online because it is in black and white and people can go back and look at it later....not in heat of the moment.
  7. Having Homecoming and Potato Bowl on the same weekend is going to hurt our average attendance this year. Those always seem to be the two most attended games. I can't remember what the attendance was for the Montana game, but I remember some people being a little disappointed in the turnout. If that was Homecoming weekend instead it would have been a bigger crowd. If we are at 10,179 for this year, we will likely end the year under 10k as we know it drops some the second half, and the Vegas game this weekend won't help. Hoping the crowd will be loud this Saturday though for Weber!
  8. At least we know in advance that both of those guys are out, some other guys will get more reps in practice week. Hopefully they will be ready to go, and yes that will be awesome if someone steps up and surprises us with a great game!
  9. Let's hope! Does he have good hands....can he block, guess we'll find out. What we've done the last 3 weeks has worked so well, I don't really want to change much. But maybe they can get him a deep ball or something. Also maybe he won't be money on the sweep now, or maybe it will help the sweep even more......well that would be hard to do it has worked so well with him running it?
  10. Toivonen has played really well the last few weeks. I think some posters previously wanted to see Mckinney in more in place of Toivonen just to have a burner in there, instead of 3 similar body types.....Wanzek, Maag, and Toivonen, in attempt to make us more diverse. I guess we'll see how it turns out with Toivonen out. Really stinks that both him and Izzy are out though.
  11. Since last year I've felt that Brady should be the RB on the opening drive to pound the rock, because he almost always gets positive yards and it's important not to go 3 and out your first series. Pound them the first drive with Brady and JJ, maybe first two drives....then put Santiago in for change of pace as RB. But yes also have Santiago in out wide or something when Brady or JJ are in backfield. If Santiago is still a little dinged up, if he was out there as somewhat of a decoy out wide and not getting contact, he would still draw attention. Santiago did have a 139 yards against Washington and a 60 yard run, for whomever was asking when his last run of over 40 yards was. Only Santiago would have made that run. The OL has really started to come together...I think there are some big runs for Santiago to be had now. However I also agree......stick with what is working now! Weber is physical, let Brady and JJ run them over.
  12. Yeah that definitely had a big role in that, I don't think they hold EWU to 6 if Gubrud is playing, but I think they have still been pretty potent with their backup in and Weber shut them down. First one to 17 on Saturday probably wins!
  13. If we win this game, we may become thought of as the new Weber. Super boring offense that just plugs away and does score some points, and a really good defense. Man if we just had at least average special teams! Weber shut down EWU, but I'm hoping maybe our style of play translates better? We'll see. Hopefully we get one OL man back this week, OL playing well against a tough defense will be important. If we win the turnover battle, and 3rd down conversion percentages I say we win the game.
  14. If we go 9-2 we should get a top 8 seed in my opinion and I think we will unless ISU craps the bed the rest of the year. We do need some other teams we beat, Like Montana to finish strong to help. If we only have 1 FCS loss, and that was to a team who in my opinion would probably roll most teams outside the top 15, don't get a top 8 seed that is crap. ISU totally should have beaten Davis. Man who would have thought a missed 27 yard FG by another team may cost us. We have a long ways to go yet, so I will worry about that problem if we do go 9-2. Weber is going to be a battle, playing at NAU is also going to be a difficult game too. I feel if we beat Weber and we lose another one to go 8-3 we are absolutely in the playoffs without a doubt and would be ridiculous if we weren't. Beating SHSU at their place....and the fact we crushed Montana...……..that will still matter come playoff selection.
  15. I agree, this is likely to be a 20-17 type of game, both good defenses. Not being able to make FG's is going to hurt. This is the type of game where if we had a legit kicker I could see 3 FG's. I hope the kid gets his head somewhat straightened out this week to be able to at least make short ones when when needed.
  16. So do many adults about this. Had a buddy that lives in Fargo down in AZ for work last week and met up with him. He is mostly hockey guy (season tickets)......he said he won't buy Fighting Hawks stuff. I told him as much as I hated getting rid of Fighting Sioux, I've pretty much let it go at this point.
  17. That's right....those guys two years ago were hilarious!! The main guy yesterday was alright.......but yeah color guy yesterday that was supposed to add stuff, yeah he wasn't that good. Sounded like they pulled the JV coach from a local high school team to add commentary.
  18. Outside of it really being cemented how bad our kicker is, I am kind of glad things didn't go quite as planned out of the gate and we faced some adversity against a team that we should beat. These type of games have swallowed us up in the past. The guys kept playing hard and just powered through it. The final score still ended up being roughly what most of us predicted.
  19. Too bad Leach wasn't a freshman last year since it was wasted year anyway. I mean how do we even attempt a FG try over 40 yards this year.
  20. Yeah with two OLB out for the year now.....can't move him. So next year is Gordon going back to RB? We will be sitting pretty good next year even though Santiago and Brady are graduating. JJ, Gordon, and Weah.
  21. My Pluto was actually pretty good tonight......never froze and was good all the way through.
  22. Ok our OL has massively outperformed this year. We have two starters out and we have 450 yards on the ground.
  23. He's always so damn close.....nice to see him break one like that and take it all the way!
