  1. UND now has a better real time RPI than Nebraska - 204 vs 221. EWU has a surprisingly high RPI and FGCU's is bad. http://realtimerpi.com/rpi_445_Men.html
  2. Hoiberg was down on his offense, but said the defense was satisfactory. That must mean UND's defense did their job.
  3. So easy to compare and lambast Grand Forks economy to those south of us, but Fargo and Sioux Falls have two of the top four economies today. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.southcoasttoday.com/news/20191219/ziprecruiter-says-providence-metro-area---which-includes-new-bedford---is-nations-fourth-hottest-job-market%3ftemplate=ampart
  4. On the Liberty board they don’t know the difference between club and NCAA DI. Gave them the High Point link for building a rink for DI link, and they still reject it, Didn’t know about Clarksville building a rink at the time for Austin Peay at the time,. It’s still probably two years away, so most people can’t even grasp the concept unless it’s happening right now. But in general the Liberty people hate my postings because have said they will join an FBS conference. They insist Liberty will become a Notre Dame and BYU.
  5. Because I posted a link and made comments that Southpaw found incredibly offensive, lets change this board so southpaw has to approve postings. It will slow things up a bit but southpaw feelings are worth so much to everyone on this board, so it is a small price to pay. Incidentally, Charlotte just got the 30th MLS expansion team for almost an NHL price. Austin was awarded a team earlier but it shows that virgin pro territory with high income are in demand.
  6. Hopefully, the buyer is Mayo. It takes major capital to finance and run a hospital, as well as all their branches. Look at Sanford and what it’s done. Altru is just too small to succeed by itself today. Mayo, Cleveland Clinic, and MD Anderson have all been on a quest to expand their affiliates because it brings in more patients to the main hospitals. Don’t know if actually owning the affiliates would work though, as it requires mega finances. http://www.startribune.com/part-two-cautiously-mayo-clinic-builds-an-empire/284980461/ Have had two juvenile relatives referred to Mayo, and both are doing well now. But one still has to visit biennially.
  7. It is still early in construction. About now would be a good time to announce ice if they want a team. It will be mostly a concert venue for Austin, which is getting more like San Jose economically everyday. Hockey seems to be seeing an uptake in suburban Austin with Cedar Park having an 8700 seat arena for an AHL team and the building of new rinks in Cedar Park. https://patch.com/texas/cedar-park/massive-cedar-park-ice-hockey-venue-breaks-ground UNM seems to be getting serious about hockey and UT would be a major addition for the sport. With ASU, AU, UNLV, Utah etc, a Southwest League could be feasible.
  8. He played 8 man fb at a private school. Tulsa, OU, and OSU didn't even offer, even though he made the Tulsa paper all state.
  9. The total cost will be $338 million. $130 million will be paid by the Moody’s, which the new arena will be named after. The arena will seat less than 10,000 for sporting events. Because the Oak View Group has been involved and is often part of NHL franchises, a Canadien Broadcater said Austin would be a primed NHL site. The arena is simply too small.
  10. Not saying anything is imminent, but an outdoor game at the Cooron Bowl between Texas and A&M club teams is surprising. https://www.defendingbigd.com/2019/12/18/21027549/the-collegiate-hockey-classic-texas-a-m-vs-texas-on-january-5th-at-the-cotton-bowl-aggies
  11. According to an Old Dominion board, he would be a backup QB there for a number of years. That’s probably why he chose UND, as he has the potential to start for four. https://csnbbs.com/thread-870294-post-16554008.html#pid16554008
  12. New Orleans might be very popular among the hard partying fans, but more subdued ones should avoid due to crime and debauchery. When someone shoots out your backseat car window on the freeway and the police consider that incident a waste, something is wrong there. Its a status way worse than Las Vegas. The food is great in the Big Easy, but almost everything else is highly questionable and most it’s gotten batter since Katrina. Nashville is appealing because it’s attractions are All-American.
  13. The nursing care at Altru is exceptional. The doctors staff is missing some good specialists. But scheduling is so important and Altru missed a surgery window by hours and my father spend many months in Rehab likely because of it. Surgery is risky everywhere though and too many patients look as it as a panacea. Personally, couldn’t find any good doctors to treat me in the entire Southeast, until I went to an alternative practice.
  14. This has nothing to do with a Chaves tweet, but maybe Chaves is the reason. http://knoxradio.com/news/local/brekke-leave-und-walhalla-job HPC Phase II and Chaves and a donor wants more visibilty or a former fb player,
  15. Dont think Michigan valued at all UND, Denver, CC, Duluth etc because they were all DII schools then. Joined with Ohio St, W Mich, Miami, BGSU instead and N Dame and Mich St jumped at the same time. The CCHA became a Detroit centered conference which is blue/gold.
  16. Hadn't paid attention, but USD took its nearly unbeaten record to the Summit League tournament and lost to Omaha. Omaha then lost to Denver. But there is an NIT-like tournament in vball, and USD is in the finals tonight against Ga Tech in Vermillion.. https://www.yankton.net/sports/article_cd029a1c-2086-11ea-94f7-1b2f4969ad6e.html#ath
  17. The Bobcat board says it was them who bought thousands of tickets. Since MSU lost to UND, that signifies a ho-hum game to bison faithful. Save their money for frisco.
  18. The evolution of Atlantic Hockey, from municipal rinks and low cost, to on campus and fancier rinks and competive and full scholarship. https://www.uscho.com/2019/12/16/uscho-com-decade-in-review-atlantic-hockey-starts-2010s-as-afterthought-finishes-as-conference-to-be-reckoned-with/
  19. Doesn’t make the Gila Bend Arena more accessible to downtown Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa or points further east. Chandler, Atotukee (sp) and other southeastern suburbs would benefit.
  20. UAH has submitted a withdrawal letter to the WCHA. Would imagine the withdrawal would be a year later than the other seven. https://www.adn.com/sports/uaa-athletics/2019/11/21/could-uaa-and-uaf-be-the-last-hockey-teams-left-in-the-wcha/ Arizona St won’t commit until it’s arena plans are firm, which may be shortly. My prognosis of a future UAH league: UAH, Austin Peay, Lindenwood, Liberty, High Point, FGCU UAA and UAF need more western teams to sign up soon, or their programs are dead.
  21. More on an NHL Winter Classic at Target: https://bringmethenews.com/minnesota-sports/speculation-growing-that-minnesota-could-host-2021-winter-classic
  22. North Dakota pumps 1.5 million barrels a month for the first time. OPEC is cutting production because of the US production oil growth and price. https://www.newsobserver.com/news/business/article238385828.html
  23. Seattle does not have nearly as many alumni as Arizona. The retirees from NoDak could more than fill the arena. Gila River Arena is just inaccessible for commuters after work, with a long conmute. Can hold midwinter games there, unlike Seattle.
  24. Why wouldn't UND just rent the arena in Glendale and call it a day?
