  1. Alaina Jarnot is the only senior this year.
  2. USC doesn’t want to play the FCS game with UC Davis they had scheduled for 2021. UCLA, USC, and Notre Dame are the only FBS schools that have never played an FCS one and USC wants to stay within that club. USC will owe over $700k for cancelling that game now. Don’t know who was at fault, an USC AD or if Davis said they would be FBS by then. https://247sports.com/college/usc/Article/BREAKING-USC-looking-to-replace-FCS-UC-Davis-on-2021-schedule-142342418/
  3. When the Great Northern forms, it has great possibilities to add other FBS schools that want out of their current league. For example, Boise St is having a spat with the MWC over future payments. Boise could go American in football only or independent with BYU etc, and it would need a place to take in their other sports. The Big West agreed to take Boise St for an expensive price then. https://www.idahostatesman.com/sports/college/mountain-west/boise-state-university/boise-state-football/article239413553.html Air Force could join Navy in the American, and the other sports would be homeless. The MVC has rejected Air Force years ago, but the Summit would not. AFA would have a travel partner in Denver.
  4. Now that I live near ETSU, which is also FCS, people around here generally now about FCS. But if one gets closer to Vol or VaTech territory, they know nothing except FBS. Troy or South Alabama at that level would help. Presumably, UWF will soon move up.
  5. This team just needs to shoot from outside rather well. The last two games have been atrocious. Dont think Richman is that great of coach, but Shahid seems to know the game and take control. I halfway expect SDSU to come out on top again as they seem to have rebuilding figured out.
  6. I didn’t, but may now. He is rated the best 20 year old ever to play in the NBA, and it’s not close.
  7. Haven’t been paying much attention to the NBA when GOlden St was predominate, but that has changed with injuries and defections. Thought Luka Doncic, a Slovenian/Serb was just another seven footer Euro, who won the Rookie of the year last year. But saw a game this week and was very impressed with the 6’ 7” footer. He can do everything like Magic did. https://clutchpoints.com/mavs-news-damian-lillard-admits-luka-doncic-is-arguably-the-mvp-right-now/ The Mavericks also acquired the 7’3” Latvian from the Knicks, Kristaps Porzingis, who the media designated a star because he was a Knick. Sorry if I just climbed out of a rock.
  8. A possible big leap for St Thomas soon: http://www.startribune.com/how-big-of-a-leap-for-st-thomas-athletics-answers-start-coming-very-soon/567087312/ Sounds like a waiver will not be granted as the NCAA will pass new rules to make it possible.
  9. If the story about the old Engelstad is true, I would pit a high probability on Indiana hockey. That takes major planning and foresight to occur.
  10. Last decade, there was talk by the Indiana club team of a move to DI. Since many club teams want to move up, discounted it as overambitious without actual leadership statements and no building.
  11. A plastics plant last year presented Tioga or Stanley to be possible choices. https://bismarckstate.edu/master-news/Plasticsplantcouldbring200jobstoTioga/
  12. Tioga is pushing to get ahead of the curb to be home to a petrochemical plant: https://www.willistonherald.com/news/oil_and_energy/tioga-completes-study-showing-it-s-air-has-plenty-of/article_b2bf8c18-38ab-11ea-b605-57a9636c3a06.html
  13. Creating ethene (ethylene) from all the ethane is a creative solution. Ethene does not decompose, is a much value product that ethane so OneOK would make substantial profit transporting it, and now there are ethene exporting facilities in Texas because other countries can make polyethylene cheaper from ethene than regular hydrocarbons. Not saying it would happen, but the incentives can’t be denied.
  14. FCOA is relatively minor and their will be more revenue sources available (CFP, more FBS opponent guarantees, etc)
  15. The women are being pounded at SDSU 74-45 after 3.
  16. Here's an old article that Montana seriously flirted with the old WAC but didn’t move at the time as Montana St had too much costly work, like expanding their stadium and both needed better FBS facilities. Never mind adding 22 scholarships for the men, more sports and schollies for the women, so it was just too massive a cost at once. But Montana St soon borrowed money for a stadium expansion to get ready. They are now both ready except for women’s sporting additions and 22 more scholarships https://missoulian.com/news/local/no-to-wac-university-of-montana-to-stay-in-big/article_65c1336c-edbf-11df-9a9d-001cc4c002e0.html Now is the time to change leagues and move the whole league up. In 2011, a new league wouldn’t qualify for the CFP payout. A new league could qualify in 2025 for CFP if it started the FBS move by 2023.
  17. There have been discussions that ODU, UMass, Buffalo, and other FBS schools will fill UConn’s spot in the American. One school not mentioned was Stony Brook, which is already AAU academically, and wants to move to FBS. It would give the American an academically great school in the center of populous Long Island, but it almost certainly needs to be FBS first. NDSU has almost none of these advantages. http://forgotten5.com/2019/07/03/stony-brook-has-everything-the-aac-wants-except-an-fbs-stadium/
  18. It’s likely the CFP payouts go up over two times just based on familiarity with consumers. Beyond that the playoff will likely expand, making more games part of it, so 50-100% expansion if not more just based on a bigger tournament. Am projecting the G5 will go to a G8, so it will be divided further. Any FCS school that has the capability to move up before 2025 in a conference would be foolish not to partake in the financial bounty and move up. https://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/article/Expansion-may-be-answer-14972893.php
  19. https://mobile.twitter.com/noahgrover13/status/1216779549670666240
  20. NDSU already has a bigger athletic budget than most of the Sun Belt. A 9000 seat stadium didn’t stop Coastal Carolina from moving up. its possible that the new CFP will be worth $3 million for each G5 in 2025. FCS returns zero in comparison,
  21. They don't want to leave the big paycheck from MVC mbb. Texas is also too important for recruiting for fb and students. Their long term goal is a split western CUSA. Their undergrad enrollment is almost as large as Mizzou’s now and they want to continue that growth.
  22. Missouri St is apparently deciding between Bobby Petrino and Art Briles for their new football coach. They will be heading to the WAC ImHO for FBS only so they need to massively upgrade their coaches. Also, there are tweet that say it will be Petrino.
  23. It’s not like one has to gold plate everything. 22 more scholarships. More expensive coach coaches, and more women’s sports and much more attention during the entire season. Somehow Coastal Carolina could affor it but NDSU can’t. Why is NDSU building an indoor practice center when they didn’t have one before, but still had championships. Montana, Montana St, and Weber St have also made tremendous facility advances and they are actually performing better. But with the new CFP rules, there is much more money playing FBS.
  24. One will play for a championship in the Great Northern League, no matter if you don’t admit it.
  25. The MWC has talked about non-football schools, like Gonzaga. But never fb only schools to my knowledge. Boise St and SDSU would have gone Big West for other sports if they accepted an American fb only offer The MWC already has a fb only school, Hawaii, so it doesn’t need another. Gonzaga would fill out the non football half and 12 would be the effective total number. Hawaii is just too much travel and burden for all sport membership. Seen some NDSU fans talking American fb only membership on AGS, which is as blatantly absurd as BIG and Big 12 membership. NDSU would not be accepted just based on academics and research, never mind media and overall athletics. If the MWC wanted a 13th fb school, UC Davis would come in first from FCS because of academics, research and being in a major media market. But the MWC hasn’t called out for an additional FB team and Texas CUSA ones would be first. TCU used the MWC to get a Big 12 bid.
