  1. So the Macalester President disagrees that St Thomas was involuntarily expunged from the MIAC. But that story just so happens to be a better one to tell the NCAA so it bends the rules. Earlier, the Summit League said it would invite UST even before the expulsion if the NCAA bends the rules. http://www.startribune.com/macalester-president-disputes-narrative-of-st-thomas-removal-from-miac/565987131/ I had posted on a Gopher board that UST wanted DI for its sports to be like Marguette and Creighton and was raked and banned for that, but who was right after all?
  2. Only slightly more than 1200 in attendance. Did everybody stay home to watch the Vikings?
  3. McKenzie County had the fastest rate of growth in the US this decade. Mountrail and Williams were in the top 20. https://www.visualcapitalist.com/u-s-population-change-by-county-2010-2018/
  4. UND is now #2 Summit ranking team in RPI at 165. Omaha is # 1 at 112. http://realtimerpi.com/rpi_445_Men.html The next game is rather key to the Summit. The other Dakotas are not that far behind UND. Looks like UND has gained 50 ranking points since beating Nebraska.
  5. It will help UND recognition immensely in MSP. Home crowd for UND as the Gophers don't draw.
  6. Don’t see Arizona State ever getting into the Big Ten except for one proviso. Even Notre Dame doesn’t get a share from the big money BTN for hockey, and Ariz St won’t either. Maybe they can arrange a deal where PAC12 schools would get in the Big 10 hockey and when they get to six suddenly bolt for the PAC12 Network, and not get a dime from the BTN, which is a cash cow now. https://www.forbes.com/sites/karenweaver/2020/01/04/the-big-ten-network-was-created-by-and-for-its-fans---and-turned-a-profit-in-less-than-two-years/#8419fc77212b
  7. Would love to see Ariz St in the NCHC. But who would be the 10th team? Still say that St Thomas has major advantages over Mankato and it will get its program up to NCHC standards quickly. Miami and Western Mich would probably oppose more western teams. The Alaska schools will need more teams to keep the WCHA afloat. But a Phoenix area site makes a sure thing for another Sioux gathering.
  8. Wouldn’t be that surprising if he got a football offer too, or maybe mbb/football. He was a four time Championship QB at Caledonia and appeared to engineer 54 straight wins. Not sure how far back he started.
  9. It is possible that the OSU game was set up for him, unfortunately.
  10. One area that Grand Forks is not keeping up with Fargo and Sioux Falls is biotech. Aldevron is now a Fargo home-grown jewel with over a 1000 Fargo jobs. Aldevron just signed a large contract with a large biotech to supply the plasmid for gene therapy, so its future is likely good for a longtime. https://www.inforum.com/business/healthcare/4047111-International-firm-acquiring-majority-stake-in-Fargo-based-Aldevron USD’s biotech center is spinning out jobs in Sioux Falls and there are other Ag biotech companies there. https://www.argusleader.com/story/news/business-journal/2019/12/31/growing-bio-med-s-d-how-usd-center-driving-industry/2786560001/ https://www.argusleader.com/story/news/business-journal/2017/06/21/south-dakota-biotech-growing-despite-hurdles/408855001/ Grand Forks has Avianax, which has made a vaccine from goose eggs for the dog parvovirus, but not necessarily jobs, and also Novadigm, which has more or less floundered. Biotech takes time and big money, so the area is at a disadvantage anyway.
  11. The Bismarck Tribune writes a glowing editorial about ND’s past decade and future. https://bismarcktribune.com/opinion/editorial/tribune-editorial-decade-brought-growth-prestige-for-north-dakota/article_d6e1cd80-252b-5f24-8182-69a98eb00cc4.html
  12. An article on the rink and participation growth in DFW. https://www.nhl.com/news/winter-classic-puts-spotlight-on-hockeys-growth-in-dallas/c-313135600
  13. Hotel rates are much lower the farther you get from Nashville. Cookeville is much cheaper in the east, Bowling Green, Ky, is cheaper in the north, Clarksville is cheaper in the west and closer to the Alabama border is dirt cheap. Of course one would be further removed from festivities, but a group can partially solve that. Stays in Cookeville a number of times when had a departing flight from Nashville.
  14. The Anaheim Ducks just hosted a four team DI tournament with Arizona St and eastern schools at the Great Ice Park in Irvine. USC and UCLA are posited as future NCAA DI hockey members, but think UC Irvine is almost as likely. The Anteaters have a massive endowment. https://www.uscho.com/2019/12/31/for-first-time-since-1999-frozen-four-ncaa-hockey-returns-to-southern-california-with-past-weekends-socal-clash/
  15. SFU would make a terrific move in Canada with a DI hockey move. The whole country would be routing for them. Their DII football team doesn't have nearly any teams left to play in the West, so the might drop it to afford DI. Don't think SFU would take all athletics DI, as the NCAA does not allow foreign schools in DI. They even might need an exemption for DI hockey, The Alaska schools need at least two West Coast schools to keep the WCHA alive within two years, and more after that.
  16. Altru Hospital and St Alexis in Bismarck received the highest safety grades in the state. The three Sanford Hospitals in the state barely received a passing grade. https://bismarcktribune.com/news/state-and-regional/nd-hospitals-grapple-with-poor-safety-grades/article_33da0fac-6b06-546b-82cf-b985fe2c6ce9.html
  17. North Dakota is projected to increase beyond 800,000 people by 2020. Increase beyond a Million by 2040 https://www.willistonherald.com/news/state/governor-cheers-new-record-population-estimate/article_6ce98d28-2b46-11ea-bb7f-37089cd363fa.html http://worldpopulationreview.com/states/north-dakota-population/cities/
  18. So cost cutting has nothing to do with raising extra capital cost, per jdub27 pathetic illogic unless they announce both on the same day. You disagreed on helping mbb because it was in the toilet for 50 years, but their alumni still care and have dreams. If they didn't care, they could have gone NAIA or DIII, as both are much cheaper.
  19. Over 2000 troll posts saying NDSU will not go FBS when NDSU AD Larsen said the opposite with two years lead time more than a month ago. This troll is clearly against his own AD. Your seeds are just more BS, which will be your entire posterity here.
  20. There were posters here that accused me of knowing nothing about NCAA sports when I said Jacksonville U would steer the money they saved by dropping FCS non scholarship football into mbb, wbb, soccer and lacrosse (hmm, jdub**) Well lo and behold JU is building a new basketball practice complex to up the ante and get back to the NCAA’s. https://judolphins.com/news/2019/11/19/mens-basketball-jacksonville-athletics-announces-plans-to-build-basketball-performance-center.aspx
  21. BYU fans are generally not wanted by bowl towns because they don’t drink. NDSU fans will be wanted by FBS bowl towns because of their habits of both gluttonous eating and fully imbibe massive quantities . Good days for bars and lower end restaurants. Schools like Stanford and Virginia may be the upper end schools, that drink wine but not knock down much beer. The NDSU supporters and grads in my extended family are generally much bigger weight people and are much less active and much less inquiring about life. NDSU seems to have a mold that they churn out. Only recently did a relative take his weight seriously and only drank protein shakes for months and lost 100 pounds.
  22. Read one article where a frequenter of bowl type games said he never saw such a fan base so obese with massive beer bellies. He thought NDSU set some kind of record for fattest fan base, led by B73. Just concerned about the bad health of that fan base on those comments, bs73 just is grossly ignorant of the health effects of being overweight. At least that program could open up their new indoor practice center for the fat asses if they cared. But rest assured, NDSU fans are so renowned for drinking a venue dry, an FBS bowl bid is practically assured when they move up.
  23. Fact is b73 is just an old and overweight troll who goes ballistic when anyone says NDSU is going FBS. Frisco vendors have thanked the Lord for NDSu’s Fans well known drinking habits. It starts them off in solid black for the year. Those businesses have learned not to have a lean inventory that weekend. https://www.valleynewslive.com/content/news/Frisco-businesses-all-smiles-with-NDSUs-return-to-FCS-Championship-Game-468104493.html But any crap he throws is sacred to him, because he’s just an old goat refusing to come to reality over bigger money. That troll continuously spews BS on this board and I’m not afraid to call him out.
  24. Texas A&M, which has a worse RPI than UND, beat the next opponent Oregon State. http://realtimerpi.com/rpi_338_Men.html Realize that Texas A&M was at home, but this game is winnable. Oregon St almost lost at UTSA, which has a much lower RPI, too. Washington St, Oregon St and California are the three most vulnerable PAC12 teams.
  25. Frisco vendors make a fortune on bizon beer guzzlers as NDSU fans are known all over town for their big spending beer habit. NDSU fans are equated with the Green Bay Packers farm team down there.
