The local paper, the Bowling Green Sentinel Tribune had a big article.
-
Apparently you had some experience with that issue with Ruley and her lover so just extending that scenario to UND is very convenient.
-
The parallels between Engelstad and getting a new AD with Roger Thomas before the REA are striking. Engelstad didn't want Wanless so the UND admin obliged and got a new AD before the REA was gifted. Not saying that Faison was anything but a natural retirement, but an AD heir apparent is at a P5 school where the prospective donor had a son as a football player at the school and maybe found a way to install his future UND AD candidate as assistant AD there with some spare change. The timing fits nicely with the conference change coming up.

There was an article shortly after they move to the WCHA where their was a rumor that they were going to start a new CCHA. Any BGSU President worth half a sh** isn't going to stay in the WCHA long. The options are get out (form a new CCHA) or drop hockey. Since they haven't dropped hockey, some CCHA talk is still ongoing.

litch gave Wayne St like $30 million for a new business school on his Red Wings arena development before he died. Wayne St used to have a DI teams but Oakland got the nod. Oakland needs a 4k arena on campus, which could be cheaper than what Illinois or I was are looking at. Oakland is a growing wealthy county north of Detroit and will be the power of metro Detroit athletics. U of Detroit has really fallen off and Wayne St can't get anything going athletically, so Oakland will take the reins and they actually left the vaunted Summit league for better digs with the Horizon. Bowling Green wants badly out the WCHA because it's embarrassing to their administrators to be in a league of DII schools. Hockey fans don't notice, but Presidents cringe at the thought. Miami and WMU would move over if a new CCHA could nab a Pitt or Syracuse, because they can't stand the thought of having future NCHC teams three time zones away like Ariz St.

Effectively none.. But have chatted with people in the Foundation.

Miller and Schlossman have no clue about AD moves. They have been asking for AD reviews, as if Kennedy forced Faison out. Faison is 67, and more likely stayed on for a couple years as a favor to help Kennedy. Think Morton needed more time at Michigan St before he moves over. They are still running around thinking Hogan Assessments will be used to can people. Good grief. It's a tool that a new AD can use to get grounded with each coaches areas of strengths and weaknesses.
-
Assist AD at Mich St. How did he get that job after being a TV newscaster in CHARLESTON? Think I know that answer. Yeah, if he has the big money backer that I think he does, Morton is the next AD.

This USA Today article says Oakland has been contemplating hockey for some time and they have needed conference information. Bring back the CCHA. The NHL will only give a study to those schools that are serious. It also says if Oakland starts women's hockey Mich and Mich St probably will too. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nhl/2017/10/16/nhl-invests-building-college-hockey-michigan-school/769901001/ Bowling Green is just waiting to restart the CCHA, but they need more teams in the area.

Oakland is a rather significant school in the Detroit area that is already DI. Lindenwood is a DII, although maybe that will change. Expect the NHL announced the smaller school, Oakland now, and will progress to bigger ones. NHL dreams would be schools like UCLA and Stanford. Lindenwood already has done much homework on DI and DI hockey as it was considering buying the 10,000 seat arena in St Charles, so it might happen even if the NHL doesn't pay for a study.

Think the NHL is looking bigger, schools like Pitt, Buffalo, Penn or Temple, maybe Stony Brook.

Rick was listed in the top 100 software millionaires in 1997. No other Burgum was listed then. The total wealth has probably gone up by 3 or 4 times. Rick graduated in 1968, so he is much older than Doug.

Heard a UNC lawyer was in a meeting with an NCAA compliance team, and that lawyer threw an NCAA manual down on the table and asked what bylaws UNC broke in that manual. The NCAA could not come up with any broken rule because the NCAA doesn't cover academics per se. UNC received probation from their accrediting organization, but that was just a slap on the wrist.
-
His uncle Rick Burgum put up much of the money for Great Plains Software, enriching him more than Doug, and was a board member of UND's Foundation. His age makes him much more capable to give to UND soon.

The University of Providence, formerly Great Falls College, announced last week that it will begin sponsoring scholarship mens and women's hockey next year . It is an NAIA school, like the U of Jamestown, so will compete against club teams and then for an NAIA championship. It will play in a 1500 seat ice plex in Great Falls. This school has been aggressive in adding sports having added men's lacrosse and womens wrestling.

Although UND swept Montana State last night to move to 20-4, UND lost the DI lead for wins to VA Commonwealth, which just moved to 21-2 and above UND in the Massey Ratings.

With the Las Vegas Golden Knights being a big success in the ticket sales booth ( have one of the highest grossing sales in the NHL) against all the nay sayers opinions, the NHL seems inclined to cash in for a 32nd team. Houston would be their ice dream as it is the 4th largest metro in the USA and doesn't have a team. What more could a network ask? http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/houston-interest-makes-future-nhl-expansion-even-likely/

Carson Wentz taking Philly err Indy err DC by storm
SiouxVolley replied to SiouxVolley's topic in Non-collegiate sports
Think Carson has a much higher calling in his life after football. If he's helping spiritually transform the Eagles, he can do even greater things in general public. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/look-eagles-wr-gets-baptized-at-the-teams-hotel-pool-before-panthers-game/ -
The UNC case was a blatant situation where student athletes were allowed to compete because of UNC's academic fraud. It's an outrage, but the NCAA doesn't have the guts to give UNC the death penalty or even a slap on the wrist - because they are too high profile a member. UNC should have put itself on probation and taken scholarship cuts but didn't even have the moral courage to do that. But the NCAA will now find some sham charge against Appachian St and East Carolina, as they need to be cut down to size to protect the vaunted Tar Heel athletic program. The NCAA limited probation against Penn St after their coach sodomized young boys with the full knowledge of the whole Penn St admin. Goes to show the massive corruption of the NCAA admin's souls.

Can't imagine any conference taking those clown administrators again. Mayville St has a better shot.

The new Houston Rockets owner says he would be interested in an NHL team too. Since he also now owns the Toyota Center, the NHL could make Houston the 32nd team as early as next year but more likely two years. Seattle and Quebec City could come later. NHL brass want another big media town and would welcome Houston and their expansion check. The division issues would be neatly resolved with Houston. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/new-rockets-owner-interested-bringing-nhl-team-houston/

It was in minutes of an admin meeting. Chicago St can't afford anything, but that hasn't stopped them. UMKC fb might have legs, as that could be the real reason that they moved to the WAC. Chicago St just has one year left on its WAC contract and then may be out.

http://jtacnews.com/9672/tarleton-creates-task-force-for-potential-d-i-invite/ So Tarleton St, which announced in 2007 it had a goal to move to DI, officially makes a committee to do just that. In the last 10 years, they have upped the athletic fees to the maximum allowed by the State of Texas, improved their minor sports facilities, and increased enrollment to more than 12000. Texas A&M-Commerce is also rumored to be moving up. Those two schools are in the SW and NE periphery of the DFW Metroplex, so there are the most attractive DII Texas schools. The Lone Star Conference just absorbed most of the Heartland Conference, so all indications are the Lone Star is anticipating losing members. Still maintain that Sam Houston St, S F Austin and Lamar are leaving the Southland for the WAC and FBS. Sam Houston St wont tolerate more weak schools in the Southland but yet DII Texas schools seem to be making moves? Two WAC coaches said in the spring fb schools were coming. Think a WAC FBS is still coming with the following schools: NMSU UTRGV Sam Houston St S F Austin Lamar Mo St (fb only)-wants in CUSA eventually, but won't go to the Belt Wichita St (fb only)-wants full AAC membership-but needs a place to start fb And UMKC and Chicago St have made noise about starting fb. The WAC west of NMSU will remain football-less.

Effectively UND is now three games behind Sac St. The games vs the Montanas should have been a chance to get reserves in, but now this team needs to be firing on all cylinders come the BSC tournament. As Pryor said, seven points separates UND from an unbeaten conference season, but we're effectively in 4th place. Sac St and Portland St should breeze through the rest of their seasons, as Idaho is the only team that has much of a chance to make a dent in their remaining schedules. Portland St plays at Sac St once, but we need more losses from both of them. Sac St became the prohibitive favorite to host the tournament after last weekend.

Well the ones around here have cooled off, but they had lines for blocks for drive up. Their locations seem to be always packed, especially at noon.
