  1. Must be. She's missed for blocks and kills but Rutten is doing fine it seems.
  2. UND wins first set against Green Bay 25-21. Should be the toughest game remaining except Iowa St.
  3. Looks like UMKC is reviewing dropping down to DII. The thought that they may be a natural replacement for IPFW, even though UMKC doesn't have baseball, may be a bunch of hooey. http://info.umkc.edu/unews/athletics-task-force-prepares-to-issue-report/ Got the link working Think UMKC is angling for a MVC or Horizon bid, as both leagues have said they were looking into expansion beyond 10 teams. The Summit previously demanded that they add baseball, and they took off to the WAC instead.
  4. There is a major initiative in the NCAA now to drop all transfer rules so it would be like volleyball. SDSU's AD is on the committee pushing the legislative change. There is a lot of fear by the G5 and midmajor mbb programs that they would lose any star player. But their have been cases where the opposite happens. http://247sports.com/Article/Sources-Major-Potential-Shift-In-NCAA-Transfer-Rules-107001121
  5. Interesting article on why oil prices can shoot up soon: http://seekingalpha.com/article/4106827-iran-war-coming-buy-oil-stocks-now
  6. As a Herald article said, Cal Poly got a 6'3" transfer from UCLA that was a freshman who made the All-PAC12 team named Torrey Van Winden. She has an older sister that also starts for Cal Poly. In volleyball and in other minor sports, there is no waiting periods for transfers, like in football, basketball and hockey. She just transferred effective August 17th, so Cal Poly got a potential program making player under a month ago. http://www.calpolymustangs.com/sports/wvball/2017-18/releases/20170818mh1bhc If UND wins tomorrow morning, it would arguably be the biggest accomplishment so far in program history.
  7. It was major national news for a month and left wing professors demanded quiet space for BLM students free from white students or reporters. Coming at the heels of Ferguson made it much more acute in Missouri. http://www.nationalreview.com/article/434545/mizzou-firings-chronicle-campus-crisis Mizzou's football team threats to discontinue playing were a big part of the crisis.
  8. Expecting wins in the 20s if Jones and Stewart are anywhere effective. Buchanan and Aanen and Kinsey could provide upside surprises. This presumes no more injuries and DUIs.
  9. More fall out from Mizzou's leftist crisis: Mo St freshman now exceed Mizzou freshman in ACT scores. That would be like St Cloud St getting better students than UM. http://www.kansascity.com/news/state/missouri/article173175616.html
  10. This is 40 days old, but the IPFW vice chancellor says PUFW needs to stay DI, but a conference change is a necessity It is rare for a chancellor to speak so bluntly that they want out of a conference. That spells doom for the Summit as currently composed, as IPFW is one of the few schools with baseball and mens soccer. Time to make the Summit a football league so that sports sponsoring crap is immaterial. The XDSU crowd will continue to ignore reality. http://www.journalgazette.net/news/local/schools/20170730/vice-chancellor-sets-out-vision-for-ipfw
  11. A ltitle off topic, but Mizzou has seen major enrollment drops the last two years because Missouri parents don't want to spend money on leftist lunacy that was exposed there. Missouri St has been a major beneficiary of those students and suspect Mo St will want to move to FBS to keep momentum going forward. Evergreen St is another example of leftist lunacy that will fundamentally alter the enrollment power in that state. Central Washington may be a major beneficlary. http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/education/missouri-state-takes-on-mizzou-we-want-to-be-the/article_1ba80f2f-9c31-5122-b6db-ad45c8b4adec.html Interesting lessons for all leftist faculty and university presidents and concerned alumni. Mizzou has announced that their empty dorms will be hotels for their football games, enraging the local hotels
  12. Kind of interesting how the Mo St's board melted down after their pasting. All the MVFC posters had raised their hopes when they stated Big Sky teams are Big Fluffies. Mo St hasn't been good in any major sport in a decade, in spite of spending a fortune on facilities.
  13. Kind of surprised that Vegas didn't get it, as that city have more arenas now for tournament central. Boise offered some major $'s from what I hear from other boards, not that it affects us.
  14. The retail industry is in such disarray now, so the Ray Richards redevelopment was probably pushed back. Nothing will likely happen til some company takes Macy's old spot and someone else take over Sear's spot when they finally declare permanent bankruptcy. And that still leaves question marks over JC Penny's spot.
  15. Often thought that some Ohio MAC schools could resurrect hockey or start it, and Horizon League schools like Wright St and Cleveland St that would draw well for hockey, it's both cheaper than the NHL for attendees, had a lot of minor league teams that drew ok, and Ohio residents are for the most part open to it, but they seem more interested in lacrosse because it's much cheaper. Kent St started women's lacrosse and Cleveland St started both M&W lax. Wright St actually has an on campus practice arena and a nice venue to play in in Dayton. Understand that those options aren't so viable for Cleveland St, Ohio, and Kent St. Toledo has facilities in the city that would work. Akron doesn't to my knowledge but hockey would probably go over well there.
  16. Columbus has a strong emerging youth hockey program that's sent players to the NHL since the Blue Jackets arrived, but Ohio St has ignored local talent but Miami has relatively prospered. http://theathletic.com/95646/2017/09/07/portzline-ohio-state-has-missed-out-on-columbus-boom-in-hockey-talent/
  17. The last weekends teams were all weak, so UND needs to take a clear break from mental and other errors that were more prevalent in the SDSU game. This team doesn't seem to be back to the form that was shown in the last month of last year's season. Merseli especially hasn't been up to her standard of excellence.
  18. Think there will be wrinkles in the USD game that weren't shown to Utah and Mo St. As the thread implies, the USD game has major playoff placement implications, that Utah and Mo St didn't have. Think Bubba and crew knew they would handle Mo St with a relatively straight game plan. The Utah game was just to get the basic game plans down, not to show wrinkles.
  19. Cal Poly is #21 on Massey and UND only has a 26% chance of victory according to Massey. Massey now has us as the favorite for @ Portland St but Iowa St looks like a really tough challenge, only 10% chance of winning. http://www.masseyratings.com/cvol/ncaa-d1/ratings
  20. UND has climbed to #36 on Massey. Green Bay has fallen rather precipitously, so the first game next weekend against Cal Poly will be one of the major games of the season to prepare for. They need to be sharp, unlike Saturday against SDSU.
  21. Most of that money won't be spent in the future. Vball doesn't need much more money as the have almost everything they need to have a good program.
  22. Have worked with a lot of former Texas residents and many of them had displayed their old Texas plates prominently. But if he doesn't have new ND plates that's an entirely different story.
  23. With ticket prices only at $6 for adults, the Ralph probably couldn't make a profit when it has to lay down a floor. Basketball maybe can because the prices are more than double that.
  24. Most coaches would move on after this year but Pryor may be an exception. He seems to like the area and school and sees so much potential in the Betty. Big 10 and Big12 schools have so much advantages, but Creighton is close on their heels and Pryor seems to be on their heels. A midwestern location is not a negative for the sport, as there are a lot of tall athletic gals. The east and the South have a much harder time. Vail, Brueggemn, Fraase and Matson seem to provide a secure core for next year. But we need a tall middle or two down the road.
  25. Does anyone know how much each sport is endowed for scholarship purpose? Would assume men's hockey scholarships are almost totally endowed, but how close is football, mbb, wbb, vb and others?
