I'm just guessing. But if they are already working on the suites and press box, maybe they are reinforcing the roof to the suites along the entire sideline? Maybe this would allow them to have a new ticketed space up there, or additional media could go up there, allowing the bridge decks to be opened up 100% percent again as they used to be?

Has UND been getting paid a licensing fee for sales of NODAK gear at Scheels and Sioux Shop and Fanatics?
-
Can you explain this to me like I'm a Bison fan? Not sure what the significance of that difference is.

Ha. Kinda embarrassing but on my desktop I don't have a basic internet icon. Instead I have icons that are links to sioux sports or different news or procurement web pages. I click a random one each time I need to use the internet, look to see if there's anything interesting, then I go to my email or whatever web page it was that I was actually intending to visit. Not a good habit.

FYI, I was just posting my current thoughts at the moment. Literally saw the old Penguins logo today and I thought it was a really unique and cool way to do a bird logo. I in no way was saying those logos ARE inspiration for anything that is legitimately in the works. I know zero inside info about this, just to clarify. Would love if UND has the same thoughts though! Something in this direction is the only way to nail a new Hawks logo, imo.

Port did ask UND for a comment. Sounded like they chose not to comment, didn't they?

I don't have an opinion on this yet, just a lot of questions at this point. So, what IS Chaves position on this? Is this equivalent to the basketball court design fiasco? Who signs off on Jersey orders? Is UND getting paid any sort of licensing fee for NODAK jersey sales at the Ralph and other stores? What are Chaves thoughts on the apparel offerings at the Sioux Shop? Who is running the athletic department? Is there any oversight? Also, did plans for the NODAK jersey and branding have anything to do with UND taking it's multimedia/licensing rights in-house after the Learfield contract expired? What exactly IS "Fighting Hawks Sports Partnerships", like is it actually some sort of legal entity, or does that name just represent the existing/ongoing sponsorship terms between UND and the REA, as spelled out in the Usage Agreement? Since the unveiling of "Fighting Hawks Sports Partnerships" has anything changed, either operationally or financially, in regard to the UND/REA usage agreement? Now that Port wrote his article, I find these quotes from an Inforum article somewhat interesting: "The object is to have more flexibility and to capitalize on relationships," UND's associate athletic director for external operations Kyle Doperalski said. "After months of discussion, we came to the conclusion we could do those things ourselves. It will give us more flexibility and we'll be able to control our own destiny, so to speak, in a few aspects," Doperalski said. Two more questions: 1) what relationships was Kyle referring to, and 2) what did the "months of discussion" look like, and who participated in the discussions?

What I said isn't wrong. UND has two contracts, one with Adidas for apparel and shoes/cleats, and a second with CCM for hard goods, where UND wears exclusively CCM helmets, masks, gloves, and shin/elbow/shoulder pads. UND also gets a a deal on skates and sticks from CCM, but CCM doesn't have exclusivity with those two items (e.g. players can use Bauer sticks or skates if they prefer). Both contracts expire after the 2024-2025 season, but UND has two options to renew the contract for an additional year (two total years) with the existing terms, so the CCM deal could run until the end of the 2026-27 season. Not sure if you mentioned it or someone else, but I don't really see how the NHL jersey supplier is relevant or has any impact on who UND selects for the school-wide apparel deal, because other than for a different corporate patch on their jersey, it doesn't really affect hockey players since jerseys are all pretty much the same quality no matter who is manufacturing it.

Thank you! Have been trying to find it forever. Read a million articles - don't know why newspapers never link to direct sources.
-
UND still has a hard goods contract with CCM (skates, pads, sticks, etc). For hockey Addidas is just jerseys pretty much.
-
It's about both. UND is STILL raising money for the phase two and neither of our websites even mention it.
-
Same goes for alumni association to be honest.

Their website and social media presence are dog !@#$. Sorry. Still waiting for them to announce how much they raised last year.

Inspiration for new logo.

I think that is too arbitrary simply because such a big factor in playoff success is luck in the matchups. If UND got placed in an easy bracket and won, would that really indicate they are any better?

Many think Bubba has peaked and the program can't get any better (under Bubba). I'm not so sure about that, especially if Bubba revamps the defense. I still see a pretty clear trend of improvement. This is UND's overall Massey rating since UND began its transition. This ranking includes FBS teams. Bubba has steadily improved the program and he doesn't even have the new coaching offices or locker rooms yet. Bubba has been doing this with mostly D2 players, according to many. Recruiting should improve once the new facilities are built, and I think this program will continue to improve as well.

However, the guidelines specifically state that first round pairings should be made before placement for second round games. You did not do that. (Enjoyed reading your thoughts though) 2. The remaining 16 teams will play first-round games and will be paired according to geographic proximity and then placed in the bracket according to geographic proximity of the top eight seeds previously placed in the bracket

SDSU is apparently doing a feasibility study. I can't read the article because it's paywalled, but here's a source: https://www.collegehockeyinsider.com/p/225-a-new-d-i-feasibility-study-maybe?utm_source=post-email-title&publication_id=140981&post_id=85926679&isFreemail=true&utm_medium=email I read on a different message board that Collegiate Consulting announced it in a tweet before deleting it. edit: should probably specify... Cali not South Dakota.

Sorry, kinda random but I'm sure some people may be interested. I am sick of listening to terrible commentators when UND is playing away games, and I understand that with surround sound speaker systems, the center speaker can be turned off or disconnected to mute commentators while maintaining all other game/crowd/arena sounds. I want to do this but I know nothing about audio. Do any of you have experience with this, and if so, can you please help me find a low budget solution? I was originally wanting to get a sound bar, but it seems like most wouldn't work for this purpose because a receiver may also be needed? Does anyone know of a sound bar that can do this? If not, does anyone have recommendations on a setup that will finally allow me to silence the bad commentators? I'm more interested in something with a small footprint, rather than price, but I don't need anything fancy -I think the speakers in the TV are good enough already.

Here is an interesting stat (see total yards below). If looking at stats for conference games only, Weber State doesn't look so great offensively. I was originally thinking we were gonna get smoked, but I also watched parts of a few of Weber's games, and I think their QB still kinda sucks - terrible pocket presence and seems to rush everything. Their DB's though, AMAZING... holy crap. Never seen so many knocked down passes.

Mandatory travel by ground. I see where you're coming from, but I interperate that as a mandate of the mode of travel that will be used - of the teams that are paired, the teams that are 400+ miles away fly. What about item 2?
-
Curious, are the guidelines in the FCS Playoff manual optional for the selection committee? Nowhere in the official playoff manual is there guideline that should have allowed Weber and Idaho to be split up in the first round. There is a specific formula that dictates where teams will be placed in the bracket - there are some exceptions, but nowhere is there verbiage that should have allowed Idaho and Weber to be split up in the first round. Below are the guidelines in verbatim: BRACKET PAIRINGS All pairings will be made by the NCAA Division I Football Championship Committee. The following principles are applied when pairing teams: 1. The teams awarded the top eight seeds shall receive a bye in the first round and are placed in the appropriate positions in the bracket (Nos. 1, 8, 4 and 5 in the upper half; and Nos. 2, 7, 3 and 6 in the lower half); 2. The remaining 16 teams will play first-round games and will be paired according to geographic proximity and then placed in the bracket according to geographic proximity of the top eight seeds previously placed in the bracket; 3. The NCAA mileage threshold for mandatory team travel via ground is 400 miles (one way); 4. If a conference has four or more teams in the championship, the committee may allow an additional flight in the first or second round in order to avoid a conference having all of its teams on the same side of the bracket; 5. Regular-season non-conference match-ups in the first round of the championship should be avoided, provided it does not create an additional flight(s); 6. Teams from the same conference will not be paired for first-round games (except for teams from the same conference that did not play against each other during the regular season; such teams may play each other in the first round); and 7. Once the first-round pairings have been determined, there will be no adjustments to the bracket (e.g., a seeded team may play a conference opponent that advanced out of the first round)
