Worth it's weight in gold for families with toddlers. Would make it way easier for me to justify bringing my kids up to GF for a FB or hockey game if there's other stuff for them to do while we are in town. From a quality of life perspective, things like that are huge for keeping young families in town.

Yeah, I was just thinking about it and before getting to the logistics of it. I was thinking about whether or not it could be profitable even if there were no avalability/staffing issues etc. I was thinking about whether or not something like a 3 for 1 scheduling agreement would be worth it from a financial standpoint, assuming a payout for a money game would be like 75K (x3)... was thinking about how much revenue the REA could generate for a marquee basketball game, let alone the realities of scheduling and the stuff you mentioned. Just thinking strictly of the revenue potential, with the assumptions that a game could be scheduled and the facility would be available - hard consider those (legitimate) factors without first knowing what the revenue side would look like.

The Missouri Valley Football Conference and ESPN have reached a new multimedia rights extension. The agreement will feature national linear and digital exposure for the Conference, beginning with the 2024 football season and extending through the 2029 season. This fall, the Conference and ESPN are entering the final year of their existing multi-year agreement. “We truly value our relationship with ESPN, and this agreement achieves all of the Conference’s goals we identified at the start of the negotiation process,” said Commissioner Patty Viverito. “It strengthens our relationship with the industry leader, offers broader opportunities for linear exposure, and protects local media rights agreements.” During the term of the six-year extension, a minimum of nine MVFC games will be featured on ESPN linear networks (ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU), in addition to continuing the eight-game Conference “Game of the Week” digital package on ESPN+, the leading sports streaming service. The MVFC will also deliver additional league contests to air exclusively on ESPN platforms as part of the new agreement. “The Missouri Valley Football Conference features fantastic programs and outstanding rivalries that we look forward to continuing to highlight across ESPN platforms in the many years ahead as part of our commitment to the coverage of FCS football,” said Dan Margulis, ESPN senior director, programming & acquisitions. Just curious... what do ya all think we could draw for a game vs the Gophers at the REA in basketball? (I know it's impossible to get P5's to play off campus.) Also, could it potentially be worth it financially for the REA to host a tournament like they do down in Sioux Falls? How is Sioux Falls able to afford getting teams to go there? "Demanding" something doesn't make it so. UND isn't the only program that has the same expectations as you. Yes, they expect to be a championship program. They continue to build and get better, and if you can't see that, you're blind. You sound like one of my todlers sometimes.

@UND-FB-FAN If you were in charge we would be in Missouri State's position. You lost all credibility imo. It takes time to build a consistently winning program, year after year. Read a little about delayed gratification maybe. UND is one of 11 teams to make the playoffs 3 of the last 4 years and our facilities aren't even built yet. The program is and will continue to get better.

If you only want to watch UND, you would need NCHC.TV, Midco Sports Plus, and a TV package that includes CBSSN (any of which would include ESPN). You would also probably need ESPN+ for a month or two during the NCAA tournaments. Good thing is that the streaming packages can all be cancelled whenever they are not needed.

Patty VIverito said she was hoping to have details on a new MVFC/ESPN contract by media day, which was August 1st. Wonder what the holdup is or if there will be an announcement soon.. could potentially be waiting for TV schedules to get finalized so they can simultaneously announce a nationally broadcast game or two?

I'm 99% sure that Flo also has the exclusive rights for all broadcasting which prevents all programs from airing any conference games on TV. I'm not sure, but I think the Flo deal may be why Prairie Public stopped airing Bemidji games and it's why Comcast stopped airing Mankato games. If Midco took over the rights to the CCHA, they could allow teams to have local television rights, and they could also potentially broadcast select games on Midco or Midco2 if the deal included Tier 1 rights. Midco is available in the Twin Cities Comcast market, but adding some games from the other MN hockey schools could potentially help them reach a carriage deal with other MN cable providers. Would love to see them go after the streaming rights for MN High School Hockey in conjunction with somethin like that as well.

Their sports coverage is the only reason I subscribe to the paper and I appreciate Tom as well. If they just randomly stop covering stuff, it makes it harder to justify the subscription. It's pretty crazy that the Forum doesn't have an FCS guy that covers UND and NDSU and the FCS in general, neutrally. The Fargo guys are homers and heavily biased towards NDSU and against UND, and Tom isn't a full time beat reporter. They do a great job with The Rink Live, where they cover many programs neutrally. Just interesting that the coverage for Football isn't remotely similar. While I'm complaining, this annoys me (not an option for UND Athletics as a whole):

Makes sense. Wish he would say so publicly, or at the end of the last update, because it would keep people (me) from waiting for updates that aren't coming, which leaves the impression that they are being lazy or something, for lack of a better word.
