  1. Apparently I struck a nerve and that wasn't my intent. All the things you say need to be done can be done without hurting UND. At this point UND doesn't have any more ammo; they are handcuffed by the settlement agreement and King Al's idiotic law. Leave UND out of it, pursue the SL lawsuit against the NC$$, and get the NC$$'s hipocrisy into the media. Legally, the NC$$ has all the power (so the lawsuit probably won't work). To get them to change, there must be public (Native American) outcry in the media (against the NCAA, not the SBHE and UND). I agree that getting Senator stache and Representive Ricky Rich involved couldn't hurt. This can be done without harming UND.
  2. If you think the average person knows better than UND, the SBHE, and the legislature..... I ask you to take one look at DaveK, luapsided, 10898 (or whatever it is), yababy, and Fetch's posts on this board. Although they are the vocal minority on this site, they are not the minority in the state. They spew lies (which they completely believe) at every turn. Also, since you missed it last time: "So based on your post about the SL lawsuit, it would appear you don't think the NC$$ policy will be changing any time soon. Do you believe the sanctions won't hurt UND, or do you not care about UND?? "
  3. Apparently you've never met a farmer from the red river valley (Grand Forks and Walsh counties in particular). There aren't too many ranches in the red river valley, so I don't know many of them. The only rancher I know was a guy from the Dickinson area I went to UND with. In my experience, UND and tech college (Northland) people own the farms, but maybe that's only in Grand Forks and Walsh counties. From what I've heard, NDSU people are taught to own the businesses which interact with the farmers (buying and selling chemicals, seed, fertilizer, etc.). Both positions are important and both positions can make a lot of money, so don't take it as a slight.
  4. Inreasing stated enrollment every year should not be the goal of any University (See Dickinson State). A larger enrollment has limited bearing on academic quality. Also, giving waivers to everyone not from North Dakota or Minnesota (see NDSU) is no way to improve the financial state of the institution. UND has one of the highest rated online programs in the country. It sits behind the University of Wisconsin and Iowa State University. Seems like decent company
  5. So based on your post about the SL lawsuit, it would appear you don't think the NC$$ policy will be changing any time soon. Do you believe the sanctions won't hurt UND, or do you not care about UND?? I'm focusing my questions on you rather than the other "save the name" posters because you seem to give more thought to your replies.
  6. So the success of the petition process has no effect on the success of the litigation. You're saying it has to be done to prevent something from happening 3 years from now (look who's screaming "what if" now ). So, the obvious question here is, why not wait until then??? Why must UND be punished in the short term on its way out of transition when the athletics department is the most vulnerable? I'm just trying to understand why you people (who say you care about UND) are doing this.
  7. This isn't 3rd grade math.... 2 negatives don't make a positive here.
  8. Occupy Indianapolis sounds pretty crappy. King Al made an attempt at it, but they sent him running with his tail between his legs after a couple hours.
  9. I thought we were pinning our hopes on the success of the SL vs NC$$ lawsuit?? Although I suppose that is equivalent to giving up any legitimate attempt to save the name. Seriously though, take your time and come up with a well thought out answer for this..... What does the success of the petition process have to do with the success of the SL lawsuit??? Why is it necessary for UND athletics to be punished in the short term, in order to save the name in the long term (as you people assume SL will be victorious in their lawsuit)
  10. Many a life lesson to be learned from that show....
  11. Don't get me wrong, MSNBC spouts a lot of "facts" too. Politics is choosing between a douche and a turd sandwich.
  12. Losing eligibility to compete in playoffs if UND keeps the name?? UND loses the ability to host nc$$ playoff games, not to play them (unless we refuse to wear an alternate jersey). Where do these papers get their information from? I'm all for the retirement of the name to save our athletic programs, but that article was a bunch of garbage written by idiots who think people should be protected from themselves because they don't know any better.
  13. Facts are spin..... unless those "facts" come from Fox, SAB, or King Al
  14. That "article" may have had less facts than SAB. It was written by a moo U student so the fact that a majority of the words were spelled correctly is impressive. If only he had the truth of it and the debate was over and the nickname was gone until that magical day when SL wins their lawsuit against the ncaa (a guy can hope right???).
  15. The end zones don't really matter because UND would never be allowed to host a home playoff game if they don't dump the sioux moniker. You really just don't get it do you?
  16. True or False: Dave K cares about the University of North Dakota. True or False: The logo is a photograph. We all know the answer to both those questions is false. The logo may be a work of art, but so were old Disney movies.
  17. I'm sure it's not what you meant because most of your posts are great, but comparing having the Sioux moniker to having dog poo on your shoes is a bit harsh Ira. I'd say it's more comparable to having your foot caught in a bear trap
  18. Business - UND Law - UND Nursing and most Med - UND Electrical Engineering - UND Aerospace - UND Mechanical Engineering - NDSU by a hair Civil Engineering - NDSU by a lot Pharmacy - NDSU Architecture - NDSU Ag (other than actually owning the farm which would qualify as business ) - NDSU
  19. UNDBIZ

    SBOHE

Carlson doesn't care about the nickname at all, he's just using it to rile up the masses against the SBHE. This is simply an attempt at a power grab.
  20. UNDBIZ

    SBOHE

Carlson introduced the proposal to have an appointed commissioner. Not sure about the elected one.
  21. Exactly!! Only white people are allowed to go back on their word!!!
  22. Are you f$!%ing serious?!? This is what UND (and the state, minus Al Carlson, with the repeal law) attempted to do!! Then a bunch of retards idiots got together with petitions and screwed up the entire process. Based on your comments, you obviously live in a box. You have no idea what has happened in the last 7 years (or 1 year, for that matter) and you have no clue as to how the sanctions will harm UND.
  23. Only the Sith deal in absolutes. Sorry, I've been on a Star Wars marathon today
