The board chair, Kevin Black, is most definitely an ndsu guy. The commissioner, Brent Sanford, is a UND grad, but he answers to the board.

Tuition and mandatory fee revenues are part of each university's general fund.

And for some reason tuition and fees at UND are still roughly the same as tuition and fees at ndsu...

The building isn't owned by UND, but it is built on UND property. Not sure what rights UND retained regarding tenants.

I'm curious if UND will allow the Short or Tall to have gambling on premises, as it is on campus and would primarily impact (negatively) students.

Teammakers (basically the NDSU version of UND's champions club) is a nonprofit. In North Dakota, certain nonprofits are allowed to conduct charitable gambling. Traditionally this meant blackjack, pulltabs, etc. that you see in bars around the state. The state started allowing electronic pulltabs, basically slot machines, maybe 6 years ago and they have been a HUGE money-maker for the nonprofits, significantly increasing revenue.

UND feels it would be inappropriate to steal a revenue stream intended for actual nonprofits.

NDSU teammakers has e-tab machines in Fargo. Those are basically a license to print money at the expense of addicts.
