BCS is a level for all intents and purposes. They play for the title. The Non-FBS (mid-majoresque) conferences, can mess with them and play a bowl game with them, but Boise and TCU etc. never had a chance to play for a title. Now they have a better chance(especially TCU being in the Big 12). But don't kid yourself, there are currently three levels on D-I football. BCS(B1G, SEC, Big 12, Pac-12, ACC, Big East(for the time being)) FBS conferences without a shot (MWC, Sun Belt, MAC, etc.) FCS (The rest)
-
At the same time, they are two different things. BCS teams are FBS. But not all FBS are BCS. BCS teams crown the FBS champ. Not all FBS teams have a legitimate shot at the crown.

Lower level FBS doesn't get a shot playing in a fair tournement for a national title. Basketball only needs one division because if you got one great player(Woodside), you can possibly beat some top teams. Butler(Mid-Major) made it to two national championship games in a row. Basketball has a lot more parity than football and only needs one level. Football could do fine with multiple titles, just like North Dakota high school athletics.

No. being in a low-level bowl means little-nothing. Being in March Madness means a lot. March Madness you got a shot with the big boys in the best tournement in America. And everyone in America actually remembers the big upsets, and from time to time, a mid-major makes it to the title or the final four. You are so far off base it is kind of sad actually.

POLL: Should UND-NDSU Resume the Football Series?
JohnboyND7 replied to ShilohSioux's topic in Football
Not a broken promise if someone is at a position for 2 years and is not going to see the field so you switch them somewhere where they can contribute to the team better. -
NDSU made the playoffs. Never was able to get home games for one reason or another. In fact, I believe the last time the two teams played in the playoffs NDSU laid a whooping on UND. The year before, UND beat NDSU in the playoffs. UND played only one team from the Big Sky last season and that was a winless team. UND played against three Great West teams who will also be in the Big Sky this upcoming season. I'm interested in seeing how UND plays the typically good Big Sky teams like EWU, M State, Montana. Sounds like Big Sky ball to me.

Darell, something tells me you were a little old to be looking at the daughter

Probably not. Sure hope so though. Repeating is not too easy.

Can't get mad at someone for calling you what you call yourself Thats probably not going to happen.
-
Well Spookie said Go Sioux! Can't get mad if anyone, including the Fargodome this december for the basketball game get a Sioux Suck **** chant going. You can blame him for this.

Like I said regarding the popularity of both schools(avoid thread drift people), this just shows A.) NDSU people have gotten behind this, or B.) UND people haven't seen it too much. Otherwise, I imagine the numbers would be closer.

What do NCAA sanction mean to Penn State Hockey future?
JohnboyND7 replied to CMSioux's topic in Non-collegiate sports
Read through it much too quickly. Whoopsie daisy. -
Gophers had a few good showings last year. A few bad ones. They were probably a better team than Idaho I think most people would reckon. Idaho sucked in an awful conference. The Gophers were bad-mediocre in the B1G.

unnecessary. they are getting kicked around bigtime right now. -
Week one: UND by 40-50 points. Week two: UND by 7. Week three: Aztecs by 14-21 points.

He is a returning Heisman Trophy finalist as well as winning several awards at the preseason #1/2 team in America and an SEC powerhouse, and they still gave him the boot. If LSU is willing to give the boot to the face of the team, then he must be a real pain in the rear end.
-
He is a trouble maker and I don't know if I want NDSU with the rep of taking someone like him. I wouldn't be surprised with a contact, but I'd put my money on McNeese if I was a betting man. FCS champs. He is moving down so he can play immediately. Wouldn't call it impressive. Has to end up somewhere.

Beer. Nice facility.

My dad is a season ticket holder, so are several of his friends. For him the internet is e-mail, work-related stuff, and banking. I doubt he knows what a blog is.

Funny, when people ask me where I am from and I say North Dakota they don't ask about NDSU or UND. Neither of them are relevant outside of the area except in their opponents fanbases. Might be hard for you to face the music but up here on the prairie we are irrelevant.

I forget that we are sometimes!

Thats great that UND hockey is a major program in the hockey world, a lot of those fans are not from North Dakota. A lot of hockey fans will, just like in FBS football, pick a school that they have no association with. Example, I am a Notre Dame fan. I have never been to Indiana. And I doubt if they played at Boston College or BU that half the arena would be UND fans. I state one more time, NDSU football and UND hockey are very similar in the state of North Dakota.
-
OK, once again, using Blog views is a ridiculous way of determining 'fandom.' If NDSU was in the B1G, which will never happen, they'd be so much more popular than UND it would be beyond ridiculous. North Dakota is a football/basketball state. Don't try saying it is a hockey state because beyond Grafton and Hazen-Beulah, no class B schools, and some class A schools don't play it. If there was a B1G option in the state, the other school would not matter to anyone. Catters is entitled to think that UND football will catch up with NDSU, it will be tough however, NDSU might be entering a new phase of our history for all we know. Using a game in Colorado eh? Well something tells me a most of those people are UND alums or fans from Colorado. That isn't part of the statistic no? I believe the issue was fans in the state of North Dakota. I honestly do not care how many fans NDSU has in Colorado, because once again, as I said, the population of North Dakota has about an equal GAS (give a S***) Factor when it comes to NDSU and UND.

This. Other programs can't be hurt in funding, now maybe some athletes might not be interested in going there and that might hurt the program, but the funds will be there, besides, Penn State has boatloads of cash in their athletic department one might imagine.
