  1. Agree totally. We did not play all that well Saturday but I think alot of this had to do with our shot selection. When we take poor shots its when we can be blown out by anybody. Thought Huff was really forcing things Saturday and it may have been cause he was chasing the scoring title but thats no excuse for the shots he was taking. Huff has had zero assists in the last 3 games and he needs to get his teammates involved when he drives cause they are collapsing on him and shooters are open. Having Schuler back was huge and we need equal play from Brekke this week cause he has not played up to his potential lately. First game is not going to be easy and if we lose focus and play poorly it will be one and done.
  2. Agree, why are these officials even carrying a whistle around their necks. It was a football game at both ends and equally called poorly at both ends. It was great having Schuler back on the court and even still not 100% played a great game with 16 points after not playing for 4 weeks. We need everyone if we expect to win the tournament next week.
  3. Glad the mens team did not have such a bad season cause I'm sure the attitude would not have been like what is posted above. It would have been fire Jones and the players need replaced or how bad they are. Amazing the difference in how the teams are talked about or looked at.
  4. That's a shame. Ward is a very good player and destroyed us in GF this year. Wish him the best.
  5. Montana's average home attendance is 4000, so they brought in roughly 3000 more fans for the championship game. If that held true then we would need to seat around 5000 fans. I'd say bring in temporary bleaches on each end and pack the Betty to where the noise level is out of control and the Betty is packed even if we have to turn away a few fans. That would be an awesome atmosphere.
  6. Definately yes on Troy Huff and maybe on Aaron. Aaron has played great as of late and is deserving but I'm not sure if it will happen. There is what 10-12 spots on 1st and 2nd team and Montana and Weber could alone fill 3-4 of those spots easy and then you have some very good players on all the other teams. It will be close.
  7. The way the games have gone lately it's almost impossible to pick a winner and be comfortable with your choice. Every game is so close that a play here or there will decide the game.
  8. 28-25 und at half. I think we scored only 5 points in the last 8 minutes. We don't seem to be shooting very well. Antwi is 1-6 with 3 turnovers, Huff 1-5,Benton 1-4. Antwi is sure taking a lot of shots in the last several games and not shooting good at all.
  9. This is no doubt going to be a couple of tough road games. With the way these teams are playing and we are still not at full strength I would be more than happy with a split. I believe both games will once again be decided by 2-3 points like every game we've played lately.
  10. That is strange to leave the program with only 2 weeks left. It's not like they weren't playing minutes. It's got to be more than what is posted.
  11. I guess anything is possible. The last time we played Weber we were only down 3 at half and ended up losing by 15 . Only Schuler was in double digits and we shot poorly and turned the ball over alot. But, at Weber we got beat by 30+ so if we are going to play Weber in the finals I would prefer it be at Montana. Being in the championship game against anybody would be huge and on national tv.
  12. I like our chances of being the 3 seed. SUU has Montana and Montana State at home then road games at Northern Colorado and then us. I'd say they would be lucky to go 2-2. We need a split this week with 2 rather tough road games since we struggled to beat these teams at home. Our home game against them will decide the 3 seed. Of course we need to be healthy these last 3 games and have not heard much about our injured players. Other than that its a rat race for the 1 seed and from 3-7 seeds.
  13. This is a huge advantage for the teams that play Montana the rest of the regular season. These are also teams we are fighting to stay ahead of and it could give them a win that they would not normally have and as tight as things are this could be huge in the seeding. I now like our chances against Montana versus Weber.
  14. Thats a game and tournament changer. With only a one game lead over Weber the tournament site may change.
  15. The problem I see with playing Hooker is where or who does he play for. We will have 4 senior guards that have been everything since they have been here in Webb, Anderson, Huff and Schuler and then you add Antwi and Benton as guards. So that is 6 proven guards that have the experience and talent. Very tough decision for the coaches indeed.
  16. I agree it was a poor choice of words but Ralston is a true fan of UND mens basketball and wants them to succeed as much as anybody. I have talked to him many times before and after games and he truly cares about this program. He speaks his mind on the radio about what he thinks about the calls on the floor and speaks highly of all the players and calls the games as he truly sees them whether its good or bad. When we take a poor shot he will state it was a poor shot and that when a certain player is out of control he will again comment that this player is out of control, I personally like to hear his truthful comments.
  17. We need Portland St. to pull off the upset of Eastern Washington tonight. Game is at Portland St.
  18. Is this dark cloud ever going to leave? The more I think about all the adversity this team has faced this year and to be tied for third in the conference at 8-8 is remarkable to say the least.
  19. This team needs to get healthy and get the players in the lineup that can end the regular season on a high note. The final 4 league games will not be easy as we are on the road at northern colorado, eastern washington and portland state and any win will be extremely tough. Then we play southern utah at home. We need to finish at least 2-2 to secure a very good seed but it wont be easy. We need to get back to a solid starting lineup with Brekke, Schuler, Huff, Anderson and Webb to finish out this season and play Wilmer, Benton, Allard, Antwi in limited back up roles. Play our best 28 to 32 minutes and get ready for the post season.
  20. I disagree with you on this. This basketball team from the 2nd game of the year has faced the most adversity of any team in many years. Yes, this one did slip away but again we did not have 2 key starters. With Brekke and Schuler in this one we would have won easily. We have probably played only a handful of games with our best players in the lineup and we are still 8-8 in the conference. Next year could be a great year with all 5 juniors being seniors and the addition of Nash, Salmonson and if they don't redshirt Hooker, which they should.
  21. Kinda of tough to win with 7 players and 2 starters missing in Brekke and Schuler. What could have been this year. Any word on Brekke's return as I've heard Schuler will play next week. No doubt we would have won this one with our regular players in the lineup.
  22. Wow. The old saying a win is a win and thats what we needed and got. Honestly I would take another one just like it Saturday night without some key players and it really shows the importance of some players when they are injured and not in the lineup. Would be nice to finish the year with all the key players and see what happens.
  23. Halftime report from the game. Tied at 23 all. We are not looking good at all especially with Brekke on the bench most of the half again with foul trouble. We have no depth without Schuler and Archer and need them badly as well as Brekke staying out of foul trouble. Lets get them in the 2nd half.
  24. From what I heard Nash is off the charts athletic kinda like Huff. Based on looking at his stats from prior colleges he does not shoot very well from outside or the FT line but his athleticism should help a lot around the rim. With all the guards we have returning next year and mostly seniors I don't see Hobaugh or Blake doing much as they are walk-ons. Salmonson has a nice frame to his height and should provide backup to Brekke. We should be very solid 10 deep next year with a ton of experience. What will be interesting next year is do they red shirt Hooker with all the senior guards we will have.
  25. Not good. Heard it is more than just back spasms but a vertebra/disc issue. Hopefully this will be the last weekend he misses.
