  1. I think the concern is that there are teams that are much better than St. Cloud within and outside our conference and that if we don't get our act together fast, things will get ugly in a hurry. This league is tough top to bottom and it won't take us long to dig a deep hole to climb out of. I don't want to be on the road for the first round of the NCHC playoffs.
  2. I am afraid that your points will fall on deaf ears on this forum. FWIW, I agree with you.
  3. Getting swept at home by Michigan Tech in 2006 was way worse than this. But you are right, this is completely unacceptable for a program of our caliber.
  4. I challenge any of the eternal optimists on here to defend this product and make a credible case for bringing Mussman back for another season. I say you cannot do it. Prove me wrong.
  5. He has used coach speak more than any other coach of any other team on campus since he took over in 2004. I don't even bother listening to the coaches show on Wednesdays because I just cannot stand to hear the same old material over and over again.
  6. Play 60 minutes and get the split. We cannot afford to be swept at home.
  7. I have pointed this out before. Hakstol is about structure, structure, structure......and that is all he seems to care about. That might work during the course of the regular season and get us into the playoffs, but after that we get beat by teams with skill and speed who are not afraid to use it to their advantage. Sometimes I think Jacques Lemaire is coaching this team's offense, along with Gene Roebuck coaching the power play (everyone has to touch it before anyone shoots). I do think we'll develop some consistency by Christmas, but it is hard to watch a team shut it off for long stretches and not be able to turn it back on.
  8. Well, I don't believe in plagerizing other people's work.
  9. Apparently, you didn't catch the end of my message. Here is a refresher course: For all our problems, I will take America's legal system over most legal systems in the world. And FYI, I am 39 years old.
  10. Apparently, some people on here are not fans of "innocent until proven guilty" and all the other due-process protections the accused are afforded in America. Would you prefer an authoritarian police state? Would that make you feel all warm and fuzzy and safe? Well, you can pack your bags and move to Singapore if you want that. As for me, I'll stick with America's imperfect (but preferrable) system of due process. And please, enough of the name-calling. Make your points without making it personal.
  11. A simple call to the police and the highway patrol with license plate number and description of the vehicle would have yielded the same results. There is no way that turkey would have gotten away.
  12. Might I remind you that the United States has the biggest prison population in the Western Industrialized world (2.5 million). Should we double it to 5 million? Would that make us all safer? No and no are the answers to those questions. As for "harsher punishments", we have tried mandatory minimum sentencing and all we have succeeded in doing is jailing non-violent drug offenders for 5, 10, 15 even 20 years and it hasn't stopped drugs from being bought and sold. We need to shift our policy towards non-violent drug users from jail time to drug treatment. Then we'll have room for the really dangerous people in our society.
  13. Okay then, prod the Legislators that represent you in Bismarck (whomever they are) and get them to introduce a law authorizing vigilante justice in certain circumstances. This wasn't a case where someone was defending themselves from a knife attack or using a gun to stop a home invasion, this was pure vigilantism. Either we are a nation and society of laws or we aren't and if we allow people to commit crimes because somebody committed a crime against them first, we are encouraging Hatfield and McCoy type behavior. There is a fine line between civilization and anarchy and this episode is proof positive of that. The "victim" in this case should be convicted and should do some serious time. But you can feel sorry for him if you want.
  14. Well, for my money, St. Cloud State and NDSU have much uglier campuses than UMTC. And MSU-Mankato is one of the prettiest I have seen.
  15. Well, it has gotten hard to find good things to say about Mussman. He is a good coordinator, but just doesn't seem to have a grasp on the head coaching position.
  16. Yes, I am done arguing with the tone-deaf. Now, what are the odds that Faison pushes the button on Mussman? I say 50/50.
  17. What I wrote was the truth, truth that some of our fans don't want to hear, see or read. If you look at the past 10-15 years and connect all the dots, it makes sense. Some people did understand the point I was trying to make, even if they didn't agree with all of what I wrote. I guess you didn't.
  18. The guy that stole the truck is getting charged and will probably get convicted (unless the DA screws it up). The guy that chased him down took the law into his own hands and that cannot be tolerated or, even worse, rewarded. As for "criminals having more rights than the rest of us", we cannot abandon the principle of "innocent until proven guilty". If we hadn't followed that principle in the Travis Stay murder case, Stay would be in prison for life right now. There are reasons law enforcement tell us not to apprehend suspects on our own; one of them is that vigilante justice is not acceptable in our society. This isn't the world of NBC's "Revolution".
  19. If butt-kissing and universal deference to authority is "being professional", I prefer to not be a professional. And if you think everyone that wears a suit and tie is a "professional adult", then you really are living in fantasy land. My experience at UND is that the students are much more grown-up than the grown-ups in Twamley Hall. Man, you really read what you want into people's comments, don't you? And I find it really funny that you talk about "professionalism" and "decorum" and in the next breath you insult me with "Or do I confuse you with the big words?". Real consistent, Mr. Professional. I don't care what opinion you post on here, I just get tired of the "Father Knows Best" attitude you display on here. That, my friend, is unprofessional. I just don't see the group think you are seeing. There are people on both sides of the "Fire Muss" debate posting on here and I think the tone has been very polite compared to some other forums I have seen and heard about. Unless you think people that think we need a change at the top of the FB program are being "unprofessional".
  20. As a life-long wise-arse like myself, I thought it was solid.
  21. Once again, you both are being (as Sid Hartman would say) "selective listeners". jdub27, you are right, I want to hear all opinions whether I like them or not. And 82SiouxGuy, I never said anything about harassing coaches at home. I just get sick and tired of you implying to people that they are out of line for venting their frustrations and/or expressing their opinions whether or not the FB (or any other of our programs) are headed in the right direction. You just seem to be advocating for a litmus test for messages that people post on here. If you think Mussman should get another year to turn this shell of a program around, that is fine. I don't agree with it, but I don't have a problem with you posting it. What I have a problem with is you telling other people to basically stop posting their opinions because they aren't "nice". And as for "group think", you are the one that parrots whatever the establishment says about anything (hockey shuttles, FB scheduling, TV coverage, etc.), and then criticizes people like myself who have the audacity and the unmitigated gall to question the answers we are given when they smell fishy. Like I have said before, I couldn't care less if people don't like what I post, just don't tell me that it's out of line to post my opinions and vent whenever I need to. This is a discussion forum, not the Harvard Debate Club.
  22. And the "Conscience of SS.com" has spoken once more. I thought we were finished with that crap when PCM picked up his toys and went home. Guess I was wrong.
  23. In a league like the NCHC, splitting at home is unacceptable (Copyright 2013 Goon, ALL Rights Reserved). Did we get a stick salute before Christmas last year? I am thinking we didn't, but someone can correct me if I am wrong about that. If that happens this year, we'll be fighting for home ice in this league. We have to win our home games and split on the road or we'll be looking up at a lot of teams.
