  1. I share your viewpoint, a change was needed. However, don't forget that this will be hard on the families of the coaches that are losing their jobs. Let us also wish them well in their future endeavors. I certainly hope they land on their feet.
  2. Yes.....a good first move. Now the real work begins; finding the right person to move the program forward. We must get it right the first time.
  3. Two things can cover up a lot of flaws: a franchise QB and a ferocious pass rush. That is the quickest way the Vikings can turn the team around.
  4. He couldn't do a worse job than Ponder.
  5. I am guessing he has said it more than once; it just wasn't reported more than once.
  6. Whatever happens, Faison is going to have to address this situation. He can't just keep saying "No Comment" forever. It isn't going to go away.
  7. Don't forget Tom Miller said something about it on a live chat last week. I don't think he would have done that if there wasn't something to it.
  8. My point is the press conference (if Faison has decided to make a change) probably wouldn't happen until this afternoon.
  9. I said that on Facebook this morning!
  10. It's possible that one or both of them (Faison and Mussman) had previous engagements scheduled for this morning (they are busy people) and couldn't get out of them. Let's not jump to conclusions until we hear something definitive from Faison.
  11. The fact that the FB tweets are focusing on Weston Dressler's exploits in the CFL is proof that they are avoiding the 800 pound elephant in the room. And I cannot blame them.
  12. Yup. No way you can put enough lipstick on that pig to make it look good.
  13. Well Mr. Faison, you are now on the clock. Do you have the nerve to cut Mussman loose?

  14. This guy is one of the worst college hockey hate merchants on the internet.
  15. Good point. I guess I am at the point where I ignore 2/3rds of gfhockey's posts. You can't understand half of them anyway.
  16. You know that I am not on the "Fire Hakstol" bandwagon. But it is fair to point out what is wrong with the team right now. And that is all we are doing.
  17. I would also chalk it up to lack of puck possession. Our goaltenders are up and down, but they aren't terrible. Sometimes we just look like we are chasing our own tails around the ice trying to find and get possession of the puck.
  18. As long as he isn't our problem anymore.
  19. I was thinking that was one of the talking points used by the coaches to explain what he was doing on the roster? The fact that I don't remember him that well proves what a bust he was.
  20. The QB position is more about intelligence, instincts, heart and leadership and less about metrics. Joe Montana didn't have the greatest arm strength in the world. I was ticked off when the Vikings didn't take a chance on Boise State QB Kellen Moore a couple of years ago. He's now Stafford's backup in Detroit. And of course at UND, you had Joey "McNabb" Bradley with his blond hair and strong arm do jack squat for us. Screw metrics, screw the tale of the tape; I want intelligence, instincts, heart and leadership in my QB.
  21. Yep, that's him. He and I picked out our seats in 106 all the way back in 2001 when we were transitioning to REA and the Alerus Center.
  22. Their time is coming. And when it does, I hope it is our program that replaces them at the top of the heap in NCAA women's hockey. That should put a stop to those smiling mugs on the front of the Star Tribune sports section; the sooner the better.
  23. This is the same type of logic that supporters of Doug Woog used in the 1990's when they were getting to the Frozen Four on a regular basis and not winning it. And Hakstol's record is starting to look very much like Woog's during the 1980's and 90's. Eventually, Woog's program degraded to the point where he was forced out in 1999. I don't know if that will happen to Hakstol and I hope it doesn't. I have nothing personal against Hakstol, but if we are going to win NCAA titles again, he will have to show a willingness to make in-game adjustments to his systems and game plans when they are warranted. It makes absolutely no sense to recruit speedy, skilled forwards and then use them in a system better suited for bigger, slower checking-line type forwards that can punish you for 60 minutes and wear you down. I think that is the point some people are making right now. As for the Blaiser, he is getting close to retirement and probably cares more about his grandchildren than winning another NCAA title. Whomever coaches after Hakstol will be young, hungry, energetic and innovative. And I hope that is only after Hakstol adds a couple of NCAA title banners to REA and Hakstol gets an NHL coaching offer he can't refuse.
