ummm, I guess we'll find out as the season progresses.
-
Oh, so you miss Mollberg dancing around for 5 seconds after the ball is snapped and then throwing off his back foot? I sure don't. The kid is just too inconsistent and too unpredictable for my taste.
-
Idaho State sounds like us two years ago. I really like being on the other side of that for a change!
-
I believe some people on here are absolutely obsessed with getting Mollberg back onto the field at QB. I don't see that happening. If the coaches want to make a change at QB, Bartels probably would get the nod. But he isn't all that mobile and with our O-line issues, that isn't a good combination. Let's just enjoy the 4-1 start and get pumped up for Homecoming next Saturday.
-
Well, we have four goaltenders to choose from. I am guessing one of them will seize control of the starting job and we can take it from there. Plenty of time to figure out the goaltending situation.
-
I agree with you, I was just pointing out the one obvious obstacle to moving back to campus. SDSU has gone from a crap hole stadium to facilities that should rank in the top 10 of FCS. If we want to do that in Grand Forks, we will need to raise a lot of money. But again, we have to ask ourselves the $1 million question: Will people go to home games when the temperature is below 40 degrees? I would hate to have a crucial late season game at home in front of 3,000 people; we cannot give up our home field advantage purely for the nostalgia of playing outdoors again.
-
Well, first we need to raise a crap load of money because Memorial Stadium as it is won't cut it.
-
One for Roughriders here. Anything but Sundogs or Nodaks.

"But Grand Forks Red River High School uses it, so we can't." If people don't like Roughriders as a name, that's fine, but I am sick of hearing the Climax-Fisher Rule being used as the (sometimes) exclusive reason not to vote for it. Judge it purely on its merits as a name (btw, it is unique within the NCAA and that is as close to unique as we are going to get). -
Like all of your post, but especially this. It has gotten to the point where if it isn't just like REA, it sucks. Well, that is very myopic thinking. Most schools would kill to have something like the Alerus Center for football and in our climate, it is an absolute game-changer for us. That is one of the problems with UND athletics right now, everything revolves around REA and Men's Hockey and everything else gets shoved to the side or to the back. We need to start putting an emphasis on lifting up our newly-minted Division I programs so they are bringing in revenue and garnering us some positive media attention.

Went to a game in Brookings in 2002 (the game Klosterman hurt himself and effectively ended our season) and it really was a crap hole. Went to a game in 2010 (the coldest game I have ever been to) and it looked much, much better. Nice to see them investing some serious coin into their program.
-
Fair enough, but I think we should work on filling up the stadium we have now before we talk about a big-time upgrade to Memorial Stadium.
-
When we start winning games again, the atmosphere will improve. What part of that do people not understand? Do you really want to go back outside so we can have 2,000 people for a November home game with a game time temp of 28 degrees?
-
The 2001 Division II National Semifinal game vs. UC-Davis proves that the building is a great home field advantage for our team. And of course there are more fans when you are winning, which I think we will get back to in the next couple of years when we are playing meaningful games again.
-
Our teams of 2001-2005 would disagree with you. I'll take their word over yours (or mine for that matter) on this topic every day and twice on Sundays.
-
Agree 100% with all of this.
-
Haven't you been told, what NDSU does or doesn't do has ZERO impact on UND, so it shouldn't even be discussed . Seriously, I am with you 100%. We have become almost invisible in athletics outside of the college hockey world and that has to change. Bubba and his rebuilding project are a good start, but the athletic department needs to do a better job of marketing our newly-minted Division I sports state and region-wide.

55-13 in the 4th quarter! I don't know if anyone saw this coming.
-
How do you know that wasn't by design? This staff seems to want to run the ball and stick with short to medium range passing game.
-
That is funny! I am negative when it is called for, but I also give credit when it is called for and I really think this staff will have this program in the playoffs in a couple of years. This year, the goal should be to win more than we lose.
-
Man, some of you guys are talking like we LOST today! It's a win and we are 3-1 just two years removed from an absolute train wreck. There will be ups and downs along the way, but don't forget we are playing a lot of freshman (true and redshirt) and we don't have a lot of overall team depth. People need to get off the freaking ledge and stop acting like the program is still a mess because I think we are headed in the right direction.

Well, it was the choice of B.R.I.D.G.E.S. (the anti-Fighting Sioux nickname group) and it is unlikely to "offend" anybody, so that is a reasonable hypothesis. But as a proud progressive, I reject the tendency of my ideological brethren to embrace political correctness. I think it is a slippery-slope that we should not even think of going down.
