Not in those exact words. But there have been comments along the lines of "same problems as under Bubba" and "I thought things would be different with Schmidt". I know yesterday's loss was a gut punch, but I think the team will learn a lot from it.

It's not that people want Bubba back, it's that some people are saying the team hasn't improved at all. The losses hurt for sure (yesterday was a huge let down), but under Bubba, those losses would have been blowouts. Under Schmidt, they weren't. The kicking game needs to be fixed. The play calling needs to be simplified. And Jerry needs more reps to get completely comfortable as the starter (he's still a sophomore). But Schmidt is building something special; it just won't happen quickly.

I want success too. All of us want that. All of us are sick and tired of mediocrity, underachieving and losing. But the Eric Schmidt Project won't be finished in a day, a week or a season. It will take time. I said before the season that there would be growing pains in Eric Schmidt's first season. We saw some of those today. But I still think we will get better as the season goes on. Let's all take a deep breath and not panic after 3 games.

Schmidt took over this program literally 10 months ago. He is working with (mostly) Bubba's leftovers. Did you really think we were going to be great immediately? Cripes, this really is an instant gratification world we live in.

Why single out Vikings fans? Almost every fan base in the NFL overreacts to both good and bad news.

For my money, Packer fans are some of the most annoying fans in the NFL. Having said that, they aren't world class jerks like Eagles fans are.

The Yankees haven't won one since 2009. So I could come up with a breakdown of World Series winners since 2010 and factually state the Yankees have ZERO titles. It's factual, yes. But it's just as ridiculous.

I'll take victories however we can get them. And I never want our program to adopt the "structure" of a Bemidji State. I might fall asleep at the games. 😂
