Act tough? Expressing my growing frustration with a horribly underperforming athletic department isn't an "act". It's a sentiment shared by a lot of other people. And what's "so damn cringe" is the passive and apathetic approach to UND athletics that this institution has adopted since moving up to Division I over 15 years ago. I'm sick of the alibis. I'm sick of the excuses. I'm sick of the losing. I'm sick of being the laughingstock of the Dakotas, while the "My oh my" show keeps rolling along 75 miles south of UND's campus. Maybe if you would spend more time paying attention to all this and less time complaining about my dissatisfaction, you'd get why some of us are thermonuclear p!$$ed about the state of UND athletics.

Personal attacks? Nope, just an observation based on your previous posts on this forum. You have repeatedly defended this athletic department and its director despite a total lack of results in the programs under its purview. Pointing that out isn't a personal attack, it's a simple observation. It's not personal, it's strictly business (I've been watching The Godfather movies again).

Always from your barstool at Judy's, right?

He's an intriguing option, that's for sure.

Just keep shilling for this horribly run department. You think you sound like the responsible adult in the room, but all you sound like is Chaves' waterboy. By the way, please tell us again about those amazing Alston Awards.

Maybe it would work out like when Gino was promoted to replace Bjorkman. Jackson would have to prove he isn't Berry 2.0

Just like Mallory was the "safer" pick for WBB when Brewster was fired?
-
It is NOT "pretty common practice" to open the job up publicly to external applicants and then do a 180 and go internal. That's called incompetence and lack of planning. Chaves has run this department into the ground. Is that "pretty common practice" too? Maybe he'll stumble into making a good hire, but I don't have much confidence in that.
-
If Chaves just assumed Hakstol would be interested, then it's just another reason for Armacost to fire him.

Does anyone really know anything? I'll go back to what I said earlier: Those who know aren't talking. Those who are talking don't know. Thursday, we'll all know.
-
If they wanted Jackson, they didn't need to open it up at all. They could have done what they did when Hakstol replaced Blais and when Berry replaced Hakstol. That's why I'm not convinced they are picking Jackson.

This would be outrageous and indefensible. If you are going to promote from within, you announce it soon after relieving the previous coach of his duties. You don't put on this dog and pony show and then tell everyone "Just kidding, we're promoting from within."
-
Sandelin is probably close to retirement. It wouldn't make sense for him to pack up and leave Duluth. I still think if it was Jackson, they would have announced it on Sunday or Monday.

Will Sather be the next coach to get the axe?
-
It happened when Rube Bjorkman left and they elevated one of his assistants (Gino). But it doesn't usually work like that.

Source?

And you cool it with the attitude. The NHL is way different than the NCAA. Or CHL for that matter.
-
That is what worries some of us.

Schmidt isn't the same coach he was when he was defensive coordinator under Bubba. He worked under Kalen DeBoer and has obviously picked up some new ideas. He is changing our defense for the first time since 1989. And in his first three months, he has infused a new attitude and energy into the program. Whether it translates to the field remains to be seen. But please feel free to go off-topic. It's entertaining.

I want us to do a hard reset. A reboot. Promoting from within (Jackson) or bringing back a previous coach (Hakstol) doesn't do that. And if you want to call that stupid, go ahead.
-
You know what I meant. I am not going to go round and round with you on semantics.

It is a good reminder that an assistant coach won't necessarily keep everything the same. It's a fair point, one I have made a few times since Sunday. But for the record, I don't think Jackson is the right choice.

Younger than that. And I don't mean just in chronological age. I'm talking demeanor, style, communication, relatability to 18 to 23 year old young men........the intangibles that are difficult to measure, but are arguably just as important, if not more so.
