Sidenote from the topic, but what is the Raph Engelstad Arena goin to do about their official logo? It has a predominant Sioux logo in the middle of it? They are a private entitiy not onwed by the University. Wonder what they will do there?

Not making fun of him. Just wanting him to have a vote to either show that the tribe was in support or it was not. He obviously knew that the vote would be in favor of the name, so he did not allow a vote on the reservation. So people were not making fun of him, just very dissapointed that he would not allow the people he represents to voice their opinion.

I am wondering if they will pick a nome with "fighting" in it. I guess it would be a way to keep at least a little bit of the name. Not sure if they will pick a nickname beginning with "S" either. I guess we could be the "Fighting S_____ (S word). that way it will at least sound similar. "Here's your University of North Dakota Fighting Saints Scoring"!!! Has an OK ring to it I guess.

You are mad at the wrong group of people. I, along with most people on here, love the name and all it stands for. None of us agreed with the NCAA policy. The tribes had their chance to make their approval. They did not get it in time and still fully have not gotten it. It came to a point where keeping the name would have hurt the athletic teams that proudly represent them. So we did not vote to retire the name because we are racist. But to save the integrity of the athletic department and all its teams. We all hated to mark the yes bubble on the ballot last Tuesday. We are not the racists. We are the realists.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. UND felt like they were honoring the Sioux name, the tribes did not. Now that they are retiring it, the Sioux tribes feel they are being discriminated against. So which is it?

People are reading way to much into this. It doesn't mean that the NCAA doesn't know who the NCAA Champions are. It doesn't mean that it is easy to mix up the two schools, especially in the polls. It doesn't mean that the NCAA is clueless on everything they do. This was a case of a secretary at the NCAA office addressed it to the wrong AD, and sent it to the wronf campus. THAT"S IT!!! So stupid that people are trying to turn this into things that it is not.

NO!!! The people who believed that the sanctions that UND was under were "not that big of a deal." That's extreme. For a person not to recognize the affects of that is extreme. Do you recognize the affect of the sanctions? Theye are pretty huge!! The result would lose recruits and our teams would suffer drastically. What the vote last Tuesday came down to was those that care about a name and logo and their selfish desires to keep it, and those who care about the athletic teams in which they cheer for and ensuring they would be successfull for years to come.

Showing a banner meant to be shipped to a rival school is not classless. Bison fans think its classless because they were the "victim" in the whole situation. If it would have been the other way around, I am sure we would have seen some pics from the NDSU athletic office as well. Can't we just think that it's a funny thing that happened?? No need to question the morality of our AD. Seriously...a staff member tweeted a picture and the media got wind of it. Fiason knew about it, called GT, and then did a bunch of interviews the rest of the morning. This is funny!! Take a joke!

Can't. Settlement agreement says we need to pick a new name. My bet is since the NCAA could care less about the laws we pass about the nickname, they probably aren;t going to let us go till 2015 without a nickname.

Hey man. Just stating the obvious. Your selfish desire to keep a name that isn't yours is ridiculous. That's right, the Fighting Sioux name isn't, and never was yours. You never owned it. You just don't understand that keeping it at this point would have killed UND athletics. You think these crazy things like UND will not be able to win games under a different name. You are seriously misguided in most of what you say. You share the beliefs of about 1% of the people on here and in the real world for that matter. Everyone rips on you, nobody likes you, but you are consistently on here spouting off your crazy beliefs. Is this just an attempt to get attention? You say it angers you that the name is gone. Well it angers me that you just can't grasp reality about the facts about the issue. Why don't you take a break from this site for awhile. it would probably be good for everyone. I am serious.

The key for any team to be successfull is a good balance between the run and the pass. True you can succeed if you are heavy on one, but look what happened to Georgia Southern in the semifinal game against NDSU. They had tons of success with the "triple option" running the ball all over teams. But when a defense stops the run, you need to have a passing game as well. GS had what, 1 passsing play in their playbook? Gotta have balance.

I would say that the biggest concern for this upcoming season is deffinitely our defense, more specifically stopping the pass. We all know that our defense as always been very good at stopping the run. But we many times play a team that comes in here with a good quarterback and a couple big tall recievers and we get destroyed thru the air. So our secondary will deffinitely have to step it up big time!! I hope that Muss has anticipated this and recruited the right guys to help our pass defense. That being said, we will also need to adjust and be a more pass happy team. I think we deffinitely have the recievers that con compete in the Big Sky. Hanson should be very good next year if he performs as well as he did next season as he did in spring ball this year. So to be successful, we need to fbe better on the passing game both on offense and defense.

Yeah Dave, who did you cheer for in the NCAA hockey tournament? There was no team called the "Sioux" that made the tournament. Glad to hear that you abbandoned "your team" in the most important part of the season.!

Dave, we are all feeling the same way you did in regards to the name of the team that we have grown up is gone. You are not the only person that feels bad about having to change the name. We ALL agree that the NCAA was wrong in forcing schools to change their names. We all wanted the Fighting Sioux name to be used by UND's sports teams forever. But looking at the circumstances after we did not get aproval, it just wasn't going to be the best decision for UND. We all think it sucks. But your favorite team has been the University of North Dakota. their teams will be playing this next year and competing in the same sports it did last year as the Fighting Sioux. If cheering for a team name is more important than cheering for the team, then I guess maybe you weren't really a true fan afterall.

Did you order your "Jump to Comclusions" mat online or did you find it in a store somewhere?!
