  1. Except the reason for not playing is not the same. UND did not want to play NDSU because it hurt their playoff changes. That was the primary reason. The reason NDSU fans say they shouldn't play is because they would rather have an FBS game or a home game as opposed to playing an FCS game on the road. Both teams are not going to give up a lot. Basically by scheduling it every other year at rotating sites, every 4 years both schools will have to either lose a home game or not play an FBS game. So both schools will have to decide which is more important, a home game or an FBS game. But that decision only has to me made every 4 years. Not to much to ask for.
  2. Exactly. Can you blame RT for not wanting to play NDSU when it not only hurt their playoff chances (only wins agains D2 teams count in the playoff commitees eyes) but they would have cleary had the advantage due to doublt the scholarship players. So all this talk about UND ending the rivalry that is at the root of most Bison fans anger towards UND and not wanting to play them again is just rediculous.
  3. And lets not forget that there are talks about changing the hockey playoff format where top teams would actually host NCAA playoff games.
  4. NDSU has made it a goal not to schedule lower division teams. Their fans rip on UND for playing SD School of Mines, Sioux Falls, etc. Do you really think that NDSU you schedule a D2 team every year instead of playing an FBS team to make money? UND did not want to play NDSU because beating a D1 team hurt their playoff chances in D2. NDSU would have cancelled the game eventually because they would rather make money playing an FBS team. So UND had their reasons, and eventually so would have NDSU. You can blame UND for "ending the rivalry" NDSU fans are the ones that don't want it started again!! If you were so mad in 2004, this is your chance to get it back now than we are on equal playing field. No more excuses!!
  5. Bison fans think they are giving up so much when doing it every other year at rotating venues. If they want their 6 home games they can still have it. All they are really giving up is an FBS game every 4 years!! Not to much sacrifice as FBS games are typically tougher opponents and NDSU is not going to always have the success they have had in the past. So really is it to much to ask to give up an FBS game to play a rival 70 miles away with a better chance of winning the game? I don't think it is.
  6. But its just so hard to be nice to you Bison boys!!!
  7. If the YES vote wins, do the people that are petitioning to change the constitution think they will have the votes in a special election? This may be one of the bigest Primary elections in ND history. Many important issues on the ballot other than measure 4. Measure 2 and 3 are big ones as well. So if a record number of people come out and vote and measure 4 goes YES, how many people do the nickname supporters think they will get in a special election? Especially if it is voted to retire in June? In my opinion, this should be a pretty tell to what the constitutional amendment to keep the name vote would be.
  8. Yes Dave, we are all curious to hear these lies you speak of. Where is the video is a lie told? Don't go off on a tangent, stick to what was said in this video and point out the lies. We are all anxiously waiting your response.
  9. Faison wanted every year....not gonna happen. Taylor wants every other year to start out, and possibly in the future. I think Faison realizes that NDSU is not going to comit to a game with UND every year. I think Faison has accepted that every other year is the best he can hope for. So Faison likes the every other year scenerio, We know Taylor likes it because he offered it up a few years back. So what is left to discuss? Both AD's want this game every other year. Sign the deals for 2015 and 2017 and verbally comit to scheduling the game every other year and both AD's can sit down at the appropriate time of sceduling and figure those dates out as well.
  10. Do you really thing that GT has the same standards for what OOC games NDSU schedules than you and other Bison fans do? I certainly hope not. Sure, your stock is pretty high right now. But remember, players come and go and a National Championship program can be a 3 win program in 2 seasons!!! NDSU says they want to OOC home games and a road FBS game every year. Go ahead and be the arrogant team who won't go on the road to play any OOC FCS games. I don't think that they want the reputation of the new kid on the block team who thinks they are bigger than they really are who won't go on the road to play OOC games.
  11. So looked back at the schedule to see the last home and home the Bison scheduled with an OOC opponent. They hosted Sam Houston State in 2007 and went to Sam Houston State in 2009. I am just wondering if SHS "proved their were on NDSU's level" before they scheduled them. Lets just look at the Sam Houstons redord the 4 years previous to the 2007 game: 2006 6-5 2005 3-7 2004 11-3 - Conference Champs 2003 2-9 So that is a 22-24 record (48% winning percentage) with one conference title. Now lets look at UND's 4 years playing FCS football: 2011 8-3 - Conference Champs 2010 3-8 2009 6-5 2008 6-4 So that is a 23-20 record (54% winning percentage) with one conference title Looks like Sam Houston State was "worthy" enough to ""earn" a home and home with NDSU. By those standards, looks like UND is well deserving of a home and home....even more looking at the numbers!!!
  12. Just wondering if some Bison fans can enlighten us on what UND needs to do to "prove they are on NDSU's level?"
  13. And we are still wating...........got those answers yet???
  14. yababy, Fetch, Dave, whoever else is voting NO, We are are all still wating for answers to the questions brought up. How does keeping the name help UND? How does it force the NCAA to back down? How does it get UND off sanctions? Voting for it because you are made at the NCAA is not a good enough reason. Please explain to me how not being able to host playoff games EVER, not being able to play Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, South Dakota State, and an ever growing list of schools is a good thing? Those things are affecting us right now!! There is specualtion about other consequences of keeping the name, but I want to hear your logic about how dealing with the current santions and unable to play these schools is good for UND? Still waiting.......
  15. Still didn't answer the questions!!! We will give you another shot.....
  16. Last paragraph pretty much sums it up. Great post!! I too am curious to here from our NO voters their response to the questions in this last paragraph? "Again, you haven't told us what is going to be gained by making a huge symbolic gesture. How does it help UND? How does it force the NCAA to back down? How does it get UND off sanctions? How does it do anything for UND other than make you and some other people feel good about keeping the "magical" nickname and logo?" Anyone?
  17. Geez, sorry Debbie Downer!!!
  18. Down the road?? They are proven to harm them rich NOW!!! If the football team makes the playoffs, they cannot be awarded a home game. Womens hockey either!! Those sanctions are in effect right now!! If you don't think that is a big deal, then you are seriously misguided!
  19. Not earned enough for a home and home? How bout we have played 110 times for over a centruy!! I suppose at least 50 of those were in Grand Forks!! Yes we have had some down years, but so has NDSU. Do you remember 2009 when NDSU was 3-8??? Remember?? Wow...I guess NDSU fans really do have a short memory!!
  20. I am not anti nickname and I am voting YES on June 12th. I agree with you that the SBHE, UND officials, etc could have done more. But it is too late. If we vote to keep the name, it is not going to change the minds of the NCAA. We had a delegation from UND visit Dr. Emmert (NCAA President) to discuss the new law passed. He siad that it did not mean anything because of the legally binding settlement UND signed. We had till December 2010. That time has passed. Didn't get approval from both tribes. So if the vote goes down on June 12th to keep the name, what do you think the NCAA is going to do? They said we can keep the name...but if we do, we will suffer sanctions. I an sure you are well aware of them so I won't repeat them. These santions have already started of affect UND's atheltic program. I am totally in support of the Fighting Sioux name and all it stands for. I totally think it was wrong in 2005 for the NCAA to make their ruling. I want UND to keep the name. But not at the cost it is going to be to keep it. You need to realize that most of us that are saying to vote YES love the nickname and do not think it is wrong by any means. But we are doing what is best for the University of North Dakota. You need to realize the ramifications of keeping the name right now. 4 years ago their were no ramifications. Today there is. Its to late. If we want to be a member of the NCAA, we have to follow their rules. I know its a raw deal, but its the hand we are dealt.
  21. I am talking about your opinion on whether or not the game should be scheduled. It is misguided and arrogant.
  22. I agree with you!! It is pretty apparent that you share the the same opinion of other misguided, arrogant Bison fans out there!!
  23. Oh, so now that you have won a National Championship, no opponent you schedule will mean more to you than the other team. Really? Do you think other defending champions, like Southern Utah, Richmond, Montana, etc, share the same viewpoint? You win a Championship and all of a sudden all other teams have to worship NDSU and beg them for just a chance to be on the same paying field. The arrogance by you and other NDSU fans is unbelievable.
  24. Good thing you are in the minority. Guess what, this game, this rivalry is bigger than your opinion or the opinion of some misguided Bison fans.
  25. Yeah, I get it. You hate UND. Don't want to "help" them in any way. Guess what, UND does not absolutely need this game. We don't have scheduling issues now since we have 8 gauranteed conference games a year. If we need help finding another FCS game, we can loom to the other Big Sky teams that we don't play in a particular year and play the, (Portland St for example). We don't need this game. But as a fan, I would much rather play a game against NDSU than Portland state or even Montana and time.
