Thanks God. Flickertails is awful. I realize it was once our name, but it was a good name, then UND wouldn't have changed it. Roughriders is a predictable and logical choice, but that doesn't mean it is the best. hopefully they come up with something that is unique and has some local ties to it.

I think that having games later in the evening is going to drastically improve tailgating. Sure there were always diehards there at 7am for a 1pm game. But with games at 7pm, there will be more people (students especially) that will be able to come out at 1-2pm and tailgate. Looking forward to a better atmosphere at the Alerus both inside and out!

Sorry for breaking the new rule of siouxsports.com by resounding to Dave or Fetch. I apologize. It will never happen again. Ok, back to talking about sports!!!
-
Just making a joke..laugh a little...its good for you!!! I will keep my screen name because as a result, I will not suffer any sanctions. I will be allowed to post on this site using the name. We are making fun of Fetch and the fact that he can't move on for the obvious good of the university. Hey ...I thought you were going to not come one this message board anymore? If you choose to still login, be prepared to hear the same thing we have been trying to pound in your head hundreds of times of why we voted to retire the name.

Maybe you should be a fan of the SIOUXfalls Stampede!! If you are a fan of a name and not UND!

Looking at the Wild roster, there is deffinitely not only a College hockey flavor to it, but specifically WCHA as well!! Here are the WCHA players currently on the Wild roster: Zach Parise - UND Chay Genoway - UND Matt Cullen - SCSU Jason Zucker - Denver Dany Heatley - Wisc. Ryan Suter - Wisc. Tom Gilbert - Wisc Nate Prosser - CC WildCHA!!!

FCS National Championship...I think that would steal a little thunder from other sports...don't you think?!!
-
I think most Gopher fans that are Wild fans will have no problem cheering for a former Sioux and a former Badger!!!
-
Well....if you had Parise in 2004, maybe the Gophers would have won a Championship that year as well!!!
-
"I hope the fans can forgive me for not playing for the Gophers" - Zach Parise I think they will!!
-
Looking for the last time a former NDSU athelete signed a pro contract worth 98 million dollars.....having touble finding one
-
Post a picture of that!! I think there are many of us Wild fans who are itching to see his name on a Wild sweater!!

That's fine. You can cheer for whoever you want, and have your opinion of the look of a jersey too. Nothing wrong with that. But saying that the Wild are not a playoff contender next year??? Now that is crazy talk. Before they were plagued with ingurins last year, they were the best team in hockey. Adding two of the best players in the game is only going to make them better. As a Red Wings fan, I do understand why you would think that they aren't a threat. Parise and Suter told Detroit they didn't want to play for them. Red Wings are getting to be one of the oldest teams in the NHL. the Wld got 2 of the best players in the NHL at the age of 27. they also have great young players like Granland and Zucker that are oly going to get better playing with these guys. Looking foward for the Wild to knock off the Wings in the playoffs next year!!
-
Did you cheer for UND in the hockey regionals this year even though you probably thought the new jerseys were bad? Do you cheer for the Vikings/Twins/Wolves/etc? they have the same fanbase as gopher fans too!! Kevin Gorg is on the broacast of Wild games maybe for a total of 10 minutes a game. And not liking a team because of an announcer?? Seriosly? I am a fan of the team and the players that play on it. Everything else is secondary. The Wild will be fine without yuo. Go cheer for a team with a pretty jersey that you like if that is the basis for what teams you cheer for!! Pathetic!!!

Years are key for anyones contract. That is the advantage that the Wild had being under the cap so much. Signing a deal that is going set him up for the rest of his career is very appealing to Parise and Suter. that is a big reason they signed. Parise is a type of player tha will be good for a very long time. Even into his late 30's. So signing a 13 year deal is not a bad move at all. I understand you are upset about your guy leaving your team. Would probably act the same way if it would have been PArise leaving the Wild to go somewhere else. But really in the end it came down to Minnesota or New Jersey. Gotta give Parise a little credit for the loyalty he showed New Jersey. He didn't consider Chicago, Detroit, Philly, etc. New Jersy was on the short list even till the end. As A Wild fan I cheered for Parise and the Devils all the time. Especially this year in the playoffs. You can still be a Devils fan. they are still a great team. Hopefully you can still cheer for Parise in Minnesota.

So when will the "Who Hits the Zajacpot" thread start??!!! He will be a free agent after next year!!!
-
Looking good for the Wild next year!! Now we just have to hope the season doesn't get delayed or cancelled!!
-

I realize that he is going back to Minnesota because his family is there and he wants to discuss it with them. But the fact that he is coming to Minnesota today and plans on making his announcement of where he is going to sign today makes me very optomistic. Don't think he is going to make an announcement in Minnesota that he is going to play somewhere else. If he gets on a plane to fly out of Minnesota before his announcement, you can pretty much assume that he is signing somewhere else. Here's to hoping that a press conference is scheduled while he is still in Minneapolis!!

Yeo was in his first year of coaching the team last year. Look at how they played before the team was depeleted by injury. They were playing like a playoff team. He had those guys playing great hockey. He has a great system that he uses. Much different (and better) that Richards used. With or without Parise and Suter, the Wild are going to be good next year.
-
These guys were producing last year. It wasn't just all talk about potential. The Wild has the best record in the NHL after the first 2 months and change last year. Then their roster was depleted with a ton of injuries. Who knows where they would have finished had they been healthy last year. With the current roster now without Parise or Suter I would say that they are a playoff team next year (barring injury). Adding those two guys would elevate the Wild to one of the top teams in the Western Conference.
