The reason why everyone on here is so mad at you is because you bring up the stupid argument about how lame North Dakota is. A lot of people on here live in ND. We are all tired of hearing about how lame and pathetic ND is. We really don't care what others thing. I am proud to live here...and I like to live here. It's great to have new fans of new rivals on this board. But lets talk sports. Not who's state is better. We all know that Colorado has better scenery, bigger cities, more people, whatever. But lets debate the Big Sky conference and the teams in it. Don't make enemies your first day on here.

the point I am trying to make with some of you here is that it doesn't really make sense to call FCS the JV D1. That is kind of a slam on the FCS right? Well, makes no sense ripping it when it is the level of football that we are competing at as well. Obviously our football team will never be as big as Alabama, LSU, heck even a school like Illinios. But in the landscape of college football, that is what we have to compete in. So yes FCS is not the top level. But it is the level of competition that nwe compete at. If and when UND wins an FCS football Championship, I will be thrilled. And deffinitely bragging about it to our friends to the south.

Alright, lets just put the FCS thing to bed. Sorry bout that. I thought you were being sarcastic cause Miami OH hasn't been that great. They did make it into the best hockey conference in college hockey, so they are deffinitely improving PS. Alabama was the best team in the nation last year!!

It's not a nickname that makes a program. It is the quality of teams and the athletes that compete. If you are trying to imply, like Dave, that the quality of talent is directly related to the picture on their jersey, than you obviously as misguided as he is. The atheletes make a team successful...not their jerseys.

OK, well lets just meet at the first football game and the first hockey game of the year and I will show you all the people that are still there to support UND!! Where do you get these crazy ideas?? Can you provide us proof maybe from other schools that dropped their name how their attendance went down and their program started to suffer because of the loss of the name? You see, that's what makes a compeelling argument. Providing facts. You, n the other hand, just provide crazy theories and scenerios that are not backed up with any knowlegde of the facts. So if you want to convince us that your "theories" are true, procide us with examples of where you have seen this in the past.

What does the name have to do with quality of the sports? Guess what, our basketball team beat NDSU this year and at that time we were just known as North Dakota. How ever did we beat them without being known as the Sioux?!!

Oh, eating crow. You found another person as misguided as you. So are you saying that you don't believe FCS is Division 1 becuase it is not the highest level of competition? Again, lets get back on track. this isn't a "Who's state is better to live in" argument. It is how to succeed in the Big Sky football conference. Here's my idea. Look at what Norther Colorado has done the past 5 years in theSik Sky and do the complete opposite!!

Here we go. A UNC fan can't talk about how much better their football team is than North Dakota (0-11 - 8-3, and we beat you last year) so you have to bring out the "our state is better than yours because we have better scenery" argument. Pretty lame!! We understand that you don't want us in the Big Sky because we will be beating you year in and year out..espedially in football

I think he was referring mostly to the football team. 9 years in Division 1 and UNC is 24-76. That incluses 3 one win seasons and a winless season just last year. I agree that NC has had success in other sports. But you have to admid that after winning 2 consecutive Championships in D2 in the late 90's, UNC football has fallen off the map.

I would say that beating Montana at home would be huge for this program. Montana is the face of the Big Sky in regards to football. Sure they have had issues as of late, but beating an 18 time conference champ and 2 time Nat'l Champ would be the signature win of the year. Beating Montana State on the road would be a very close second. As far as a succesfull season, I think finishing in the top half of the Sky with at least a winning record would be a successfull season.

The biggest reason this guy says the Big Sky should kick UND out is because of the nickname. Well, that issue has been resolved. So you can throw out about 90% of this article. The leftover from this article talks about traveling to North Dakota. An extra 2 hours on a flight is a reason to kick them out? Seems like a pretty week argument.

What is so "faux" about it. Those FCS Championship games actually did get played, and the winners actually did take home a trophy. You find me one person on this board that agrees with you on this and I will give you credit. OK, I am done with you know. You are a lost cause.

I am not defending NDSU so much as I am defending the Division 1 Football Championship Subdivision. (FCS). Anyone that believes in FACTS believes that the FCS Championship is a Division 1 Championship. If people choose not to believe them, it doesn't mean they are right. I will choose to believe in FACTS over opinion. You are in the extreme minority on this one buddy. But you are used to being there, right?

So because a website says something than its true? Well since I, or the NCAA, can't control anything that is on the web, what I should have said is show me a picture of the NCAA National Championship trophy that Alabama won last year?

Technically inaccurate. Division I FBS (formerly Division I-A) football is the only NCAA sport in which a yearly champion is not determined by an NCAA sanctioned championship event. So NDSU won the only Division 1 football Championship sanctioned by the NCAA last year. I know that it is a technicality, but it is accurate.

You sound like an idiot when you say stuff like "Jr Varsity Chanpionship." You realize UND now competes for the same Championship right? You can also notice on the banner that it says "Football Division 1" This is the highest level of Championship the NCAA recognizes for football. (Technically). If you find anything that says Alabama was the 2011 NCAA Champions in football, let me know....cause there isn't!! Just saying

Since the original law had no bearing with the NCAA, I would think that the provison to not be able to select a new name until 2015 is proabably not going to carry much weight with the NCAA either. I would think that the NCAA would demand UND to have a nickname in place much earlier than 2015.
