  1. Decades.....really? I think looking at sports like volleyball, basketball, etc, you can see it doesn't take to long to catch up.
  2. Cavalry is my top choice as well. Substitute the Brien designed Sioux head for a profile of Teddy Roosevelt facing to the left an you are all set! Throw in a couple cris crossing swords below it and you got yourself a new logo!!
  3. Until we win a regular season conference championship or go to the Big Dance, NDSU will still be ahead if us in basketball in the D1 era. NDSU has done both. We have done neither. Sure bearing them says a lot, but we still have some ground to make up before we have passed them.
  4. Don't forget about soccer!!!
  5. With all the fouls that are gonna be called now this year, depth is gonna be key. I think that we showed great strides tonight proving we have a good depth and solid guys coming off the bench.
  6. With 57 fouls tonight, that is good enough for second all time in NCAA history!! 3 shy if the record of 60. Welcome to the be NCAA basketball!!
  7. The new coach must have D1 coaching experience. I don't want to take a chance on a D2 or D3 coach. D1 is a completely different world. We need someone that is defensive minded. This is our biggest area of concern. So if you ask me, a DC with D1 experience is the optimal selection.
  8. I think anyone that takes a coaching position at a D1 program (or any program for that matter) realizes that they will be analyzed, criticized, praised, hated loved, etc, etc, etc while they are coaching. It is the nature of the business. Being a head football coach is not the same as working a 9-5 job. You are in the spotlight. There are many people invested in the result of your work. Alumni, season ticket holders, boosters, and any fan that pays money to watch the product that you put on the field will have an opinion of you. Coaches know this. Muss is no exception. Was anything said on this thread or the "Fire Muss" disrespectful to Chris Mussman? I can't defend all the posts, but the overwhelming majority were peoples honest opinion of what they felt. A head coach knows that if the team they are coaching is not performing well, they are going to get criticism. After getting blown out 4 games at home and finishing 3-8, do you think Muss deserved praise? Many of us have been UND football fans for years. We are invested in the program. Whether it is our money towards donation or season tickets or just our interest in the team. We have the right to expect good things from our team. When you have a program rich in winning tradition and that team takes a huge step backwards under a certain coach, we have every right to criticize. I wish the best for Chris Mussman, his family, and all the other coaches and their families. I agree with your statement that sometimes it isn't always the coaches fault, but that is the nature of the beast in athletics. You can't fire the entire team. So you have to fire the person that is most accountable for the teams failure. Unfortunately, and sure sometimes unfairly, that has to be the coach.
  9. Obviously the team practices together. And yes, we have guys that have been together for 5 years. But the team of Seniors and new additions have only had 2 games together. I think that they play well together but sometimes it takes a few games to get a feel for each other. NDSU has had 4 games together, we have had only 2. Not saying its a huge factor. Just that it is a factor that shouldn't be overlooked thats all.
  10. I think the fact that NDSU has played 4 games and we have only played 2 will be a factor.
  11. Tibesar - HC Bollinger - OC Bubba - DC A guy can dream right?!!!
  12. How do you stop a 7 footer that is dominant in the post and doesn't miss 3's!!!! Cripes!!! UND doing a great job to hang around in this game, but we can't stop Kamisnky!! Not sure many B1G schools will be able to either.
  13. Huff obviously playing great. Nash has the ability to have a great game if he doesn't try to do to much out there. Our defense needs to get way better. Especially defending the 3. We need to prevent a Wisconsin run in the second half. More players besides Huff and Nash need to step up. Come on boys. You are in this game!!!
  14. Need to keep them off the charity strip. Need to me more disciplined. Looking good otherwise.
  15. How bout this guy? Bring this strategy to the FCS level!!
  16. There are many things that are attractive about the UND head coaching position. The brand new HPC will be Faisons biggest selling point when attracting a high profile candidate. As much as people want to rip on the Alerus Center, It is one of the nicest facilities in FCS for a team to play in. Look around the country at other schools and its hard to disagree. The opportunity to take over a program that is reeling and turn it around might motivate many candidates to accept a job here. A new coach would be able to take complete control of the program and run the team in the direction they see fit. And finally, as much as people want to rip on North Dakota and Grand Forks, it is a great place to live. Low crime, friendly people, great schools. All things a candidate would look at when deciding to move their family here. Add all these things up, and Faison can make a pretty good sell to potential candidates.
  17. I never liked how UND marketed this years schedule as "one of the best." Sure it had some highly ranked teams, but in reality it was one of the toughest if not the toughest in all of FCS football. Only think that would have made it good was to beat 2 or 3 of the 4 ranked teams that we played at home. But given the play on the field, that was not possible. Doesn't matter if we have Montana, MT State, and SDSU at home or Weber St, Robert Morris, and Idaho St. If you aren't winning games,, people are not going to be excited to go to the Alerus to watch the game. Its that simple. Keeping Muss another would have been a disaster in terms of attendance. Getting a new coaching staff in here will generate a little buzz and winning a few games off the bat will bring the casual fan back. Faison made the right decision and took the first step towards rebuilding this program to what it has the potential to be.
  18. According to WDAZ, Faison is looking for someone with pro or D1 experience.
  19. Mods, can we merge this with the other thread about hiring a new coach? Thanks.
  20. So when should we anticipate an announcement tomorrow? I
  21. How long is the contract between the NCHC and CBSSN? Anyone know?
  22. Remember, Bison fans have very short and selective memories!!
  23. I guess I haven't heard much about Hooker not being ready to go. While I agree that his playing time may be limited due to the number of guards we have. But depth is a key aspect in winning games. Sure we have our stud Seniors who have played tons of minutes since they were freshman. But every team needs depth. Especially if we are to compete for a Big Sky title. Just think of what a great asset he would be coming off the bench!! I think they should play him right away and use him. This year is one of the most anticipated years I can remember for mens basketball at UND. If we are gonna make a run at making it to the Big Dance, we will need the depth Hooker provides to win games late in the game. I guess we will find out tonight!!
