  1. Houkom should've been on the all tournament team and Otto MVP. They both deserved the recognition.

  4. He has not. Needs to work on the footspeed a little bit. Will see if he checks in with the Tauros tomorrow.
  5. Although the sounds of hockey right now are fantastic.
  6. You can cut the electricity in the Ralph with a plastic spoon.
  7. Unfortunately, for a lot of parents, this theory doesn't get figured out until well past due. I remember my oldest playing his first PWA tournament in Detroit Lakes back in the day (he's 22 now). I went to sit by this Dad who had older kids. He kept moving, lol. Dude just wanted to be left alone and watch his kid and the game. Took me way too long to figure that out (not that I was going to fight with other fans). I wasn't a psycho by any means, but my oldest son quit hockey after bantams....what a slap in the dink. Once that happened, I certainly understood how important it was just to watch my other kids and enjoy it as much as possible. Quite honestly, it changed I how watched my kids play sports. Boy 2 just skated off Maysa Arena for the last game of his career. What an absolute gutting feeling. However, if the Dad who watched his kid skate off the ice could go back to the Dad who's kid was going to his first travel tournament and tell him to "enjoy the ride, none of this sh*t matters"... That perspective is impossible to teach young parents unfortunately. I actually think youth sports organizations would benefit from having a group of parents who've been through the ringer to talk to parents about this.
  8. 2 years ago they tried the stand alone tourney in Minot. Must not have gone over very well. Trying to get the girls a full day of TV coverage and main sheet like they do in MN. We will see how it goes. Consolation for boys and girls goes to Eagles this year. Once again...Scheels and FU is the best venue for the ND State Hockey tournament.
  9. The ECHL of North Dakota hockey.
  10. Canada Goose wasn't made for the late 80s cigarette smoke hovering in the lobbies.
  11. No clue...just a rumor I heard. Which also could be false.
  12. Yes. South with North. Also heard a rumor Shanley was trying to get approved on the East side of the river, which did not end well. Allegedly...
  13. Fargo and WF could probably pull it off. Minot and Bismarck are severely hampered by geography and depth. I'd love to see the A teams records under AA the last 5 or whatever years in Bismarck. It's brutal.
  14. Want my personal opinion, the state shouldn't support AA hockey. If GF wants to go AA, they can be independent and schedule all over MN. They'd rather do that anyway than drive to Bismarck and run time twice. Should be their choice.
  15. Numbers are skewed in Minot as well. Kids cutting themselves/quitting hockey because there aren't 2 HS teams and dont' wanna play Junior Gold. Minot dropped the ball on this one in the worst way but announcing the split with a school board vote, then caving to the parents who want to win. Junior Gold should be eliminated until both teams are cutting kids and there's enough to have a JG. It's pathetic for Minot Youth Hockey to not get behind the second HS team first by eliminating JG until it's necessary.
  16. Central WF in a shootout Minot Red River Loser out: CHS over Bottineau. Davies over Mandan. Davies over CHS for Consoloation Semis: Central over WFHS, Minot over RR. 3rd: RR over WFHS Title game: Central in a barn burner over the Magi.
  17. Also...since it's late, why the hell not and fresh off the Minot WDA championship for the 1st time in an embarrassing 19 years: Minot is now pulling the cord on adding Minot North for the 2025-2026 season. The excuse meter started thumping out various reasons, but the most laughable one was parents indicating they will remain with the JR Gold program. Since Minot has been a wagon who could cut talented kids and still not win a WDA championship in nearly 20 years, there's been an infatuation with the "fun" of not competing for a HS spot and playing Junior Gold. Kids and parents simply satisfied with JR Gold and not even attempting tryouts. Minot North hockey was announced a month or 2 ago. ADs had started planning and scheduling games. Now the Minot main AD sends out a letter "retracting" Minot North hockey for lack of numbers and the safety of the kids. As a parent who dealt with it on the girls and boys side in Bismarck....WF has done it fairly recently with Sheyenne and WF....figure it out, Minot. Do we want to compete and "win"? Sure....We also want to grow the sport and create opportunities for kids who are getting the door slammed in their face. Here's a Facebook post from what appears to be a parent, with a letter from the Minot AD attached, and over 100 comments: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/18npUXWf2y/
  18. 2025 Girls State Tournament: FSN v Davies: North swept the season series 3-2 and 3-0. Suppes from Davies in the pipes will have to keep them in it. Mandan v Legacy-Bismarck: Season series split. 4-1 for Mandan game 1 of the year and 3-1 for LB. 3rd year in a row these 2 meet game 1. GF v WFU: GF swept 4-2 and 4-1. Pat Johnson is out, will WFU band together? WFU has a goalie that can keep them in it. CHS v Minot: Minot 5-4 (OT), CHS 6-5. Minot blew a 5-1 3rd period lead game 2. Can Minot shut down Vig and Matt? This tournament is going to be really good. 3/4 1st round matchups are literal toss ups. FSN still the favorite as 3x defending champs and Fischer at Defense. Going into the season I thought there'd be 4-5 good teams and a drop...I was wrong. For girls hockey fans, it's been a fantastic season.
  19. Mandan will be the 3, Bottineau the 4.
  20. tossed up 8 on Davies. Minot will be a handful for anyone next week.
  21. The game atmosphere for CHS-Minot will be as good as it gets for ND.
  22. Those will be good games no matter which WDA and EDC teams are involved. CHS lost to WF game one in a shootout 7-5 this season, and beat Davies 4-1 (both a long time ago, I acknolwedge). Troy Olson should be WDA COY and potentially the state for the job he has done this season.
  23. If you go to the 10:46 mark, right after RR makes it 4-1 with 2 minutes left in the game, Mattern takes one run at a RR kid and then delivers a cross check to Ulmers back and gets called for it. Then appears to run his mouth all the way to the box. Whoever the color guy is basically said he didn't like the hit. Fast forward to the 10:49 mark...when I believe it is 5-1...Cunningham basically said "I dont' think Mattern made any fans tonight the way he approached this game" and the color guy started talking about the students razzing him all night. Skimmed through the post game and didn't hear anything bad....that's about the worst I could find, which didn't seem bad at all within the context of the game.
  24. CHS boat races Legacy. CHS-Minot for the WDA title.. Bottineau v Jamestown, Mandan v Legacy will be very close play in games, all toss ups.
  25. Bottineau taking Williston to the woodshed 5-0 after 2. If the Braves hold on they will play the loser of Jamestown and Minot.
