  1. I grew up in a Section 8 town that has zero chance to even make the section semifinals in section 8. I've never in my life heard one person from that community or any hockey people from the area talk about the need for a 3rd class of hockey.
  2. In the early 1990s they went from one class to a tiered system. The regular season played out and then they ranked teams into a Tier 1 and Tier 2. Lake of the Woods made the Tier 2 state championship (1993 I think). That lasted for a couple years before it was split into Class A and AA. So 30ish years.
  3. Never. And I grew up in one of those towns. That being said, wouldn't mind seeing the Warroad, EGF, Hermantown, Cathedral Orono and some of those types move up to AA. Have some balls like Roseau...unless rumors are true they're considering a move down.
  4. Let's take this to the board of directors.
  5. Hopefully pickup a couple hutterites from Fordville
  6. What's also crazy about Moorhead is their success is what...30 years old? These kids parents are the generation that put Moorhead on the map.
  7. Grand Forks has good hockey. This isn't breaking news.
  8. I used to think this way back in my parenting youth. Then I found out that sports are cut throat and families are selfish. There's no such thing as old school loyalty when it comes to sports and particularly, hockey. Sometimes it's hard to mind your own bobber but that's truly the world we live in.
  9. I don't foresee a ton of difference in quality of life. But this is a hockey forum. And we are just shooting the sh*t.
  10. If my family had setup shop in the Fargo/Moorhead or GF/EGF areas.....I'd 100% be living on the east side of the river. I love the community aspect of Minnesota Hockey...One community, one school, one program... Bigger communities in ND don't get that. Well except for Minot.
  11. And then to make it even better no team from South of the Metro should be allowed in lol....Just imagine Warroad, Hermantown and Cloquet in the A as well this year.
  12. And the Minot can merge their Junior Gold state champs with the Magi.
  13. Hard to believe only one goal scored that period there was a lot of action.
  14. What a wild couple games for Section 8. Go get a title or 2.
  15. I'd have to agree with you on that one.
  16. Should be a couple dandy semis on Friday with Hibbing-EGF and Orono-Cathedral. Hard not to pick Hibbing at this rate after going through Hermantown and Cloquet to get there. Onto the AA session. Go Spuds.
  17. Brutal. Been a boring day. Those Hibbing sweaters are legit though.
  18. First two MN games were snoozers. Will be kinda cool to see Hibbing in it for a change after bouncing Hermantown. I'm guessing that game will be a blowout, but hopefully EGF game is good and the Green Wave pull it off for Section 8.
  19. All is fair in love and war....and youth/hs sports lol. Hoist a state title for GFC, or beat Warroad for a Section 8 title. I bet they both feel real nice.
  20. Houkom should've been on the all tournament team and Otto MVP. They both deserved the recognition.
