  1. Any new news on a possible Manitoba junior hockey league team coming to Grand Forks?
  2. Well, Godsmack sold out the 20,000 seat Pepsi Center last August so I think they’re still a draw but point taken, these kids are into their thing. I don’t even know what the hell EDM is or stands for?!
  3. I was at that show too! Funny story-Bon Jovi was opening for Ratt and 6 months later, after Slippery When Wet came out, Ratt was the support act for Bon Jovi! I still have my guitar pick that Robbin Crosby tossed out to the crowd! But I digress....I better stop before someone tells me to take this conversation to a different thread!
  4. Yah, part of me is stuck in the 2019’s (Chevelle, Disturbed, Like a Storm, etc.) and part of me is still stuck in the 80’s.
  5. How could you not get fired up for the game listening to Funeral Bell by Black Label Society?!?!
  6. The powers that be probably wouldn’t let me play DJ.....there’d be a plethora of Godsmack, Ratt, Metallica, Disturbed, etc.
  7. All this talk about changes in philosophy and culture and stuff but what I really want to know is, does the team need some new warm up music??? -I didn’t get to a UND home game last season so can anyone comment on the genre and quality of tunes played during warm ups?
  8. I agree about both cost as well as low cost streaming alternatives such as NCHC.tv. My wife and I have been CC season ticket holders for several years now and plan to continue to renew our tickets after the new Robson Arena opens up, with one caveat...we fully expect the ticket prices to go up, that’s a given but we have our limits and if they price gauge the fans, we are willing to drop our season tickets. Our patience is already running thin given the poor quality of the product on the ice under Haviland’s watch but given its only going to seat about 3,000 people, and the new, “wow” factor driving interest, demand should be high, at least for a season or two. I could see if the product on the ice at the Ralph continues to stagnate that even UND fans will walk, especially given the higher ticket prices relative to other programs. We have the NCHC.tv subscription and are perfectly content watching the CC games from there (although nothing can compare to live, in-person game experiences) or attending AF games. Point being, programs should learn from the mistakes of others (U of M for example) by recognizing the value and importance of its loyal fan base.
  9. I agree. I also like how they don’t haze the freshmen by making them load and unload all the gear on road trips. Even the coaches help out. Definitely a great culture here.
  10. In Schlossman’s story in the Herald today, Berry was quoted as saying that they delayed the vote until later than in years past so that all the players had a body of work with which to judge, especially the freshmen. I didn’t know that incoming freshmen got to vote for the captains. Interesting.
  11. If Senden plays this season like last season, hard to imagine he won’t be wearing a letter of some sort next year, his junior season. Love Mark Senden’s game!
  12. CC’s incoming freshmen class for 2019-2020. For the most part, more small bodies, but hopefully they’re better skating players than in years past. Josiah Slavin among one of the incoming freshman. https://cctigers.com/news/2019/7/31/mens-ice-hockey-tigers-announce-class-of-2023.aspx?fbclid=IwAR1L9KAx4fF0JDOR26AhchCPkP3p6pyaPDcz668bUsg-UVgBdAeJ5Wz6qmo
  13. 1. Cornell (their coach spoke at Sioux boosters several years ago and gave a great speech. He talked about how he liked scheduling games with UND because they’re willing to travel and return the favor whereas certain “big” schools only want you to come to their barn). He said they’re willing to play anyone, anywhere, so long as their opponents will come to their arena. Plus, the student section at Lynah Rink is pretty darn creative with their cheers and chants! 2. ASU - I went out to Tempe last December for the series against CC. While their current arena (ironically named, Oceanside Arena) is nothing to write home about and CC got smoked, the atmosphere was great. Plus, the weather in the winter time is awesome. 3. Bowling Green - Bergeron got that program in the right direction and given how they took the eventual national champs to the limit this past April, I think they’d be a tough, physical opponent and they’d give fans a program most of us have never seen in person before. 4. Penn State - A road series at State College would be an incredibly fun series! Has anyone seen that Nittany Lion student section at Pegula Ice Arena? -They’re rockin’ and I bet they’d go bat sh*t crazy if a blue blood like UND and it’s massive traveling fan contingent came to town! The atmosphere would be electric! 5. Quinnipiac - I thought that after UND and Q had faced each other a couple of times in the national tournament in recent years, Coach Berry and Coach Pecknold would’ve scheduled some series against one another but maybe there was too much personal bad blood between the two programs after the national championship game. That said, I think the two programs could get a nice non-traditional rivalry going and build off what they started in the Fargo regional and national championship in Tampa. Honorable Mention - Air Force Academy. Coach Serratore gave one of the best, funniest speeches in Sioux booster history, you could bet he’d give another fantastic talk if he and his team ever came back to Grand Forks! He gets more out of players than any other coach in college hockey given their inherent recruiting limitations. You can count on AF pushing top teams to the limit (they darn near upset North Dakota in 2011 at the Ice Breaker tournament at the Ralph).
  14. In the lines of the new sweaters, does anyone know if they’ll be adding decals to their buckets? To my knowledge, UND is the only team in the conference w/o stickers. Yah, I know, I’m kindof getting nit picky here but...
  15. I think the only change of significance was no more laces as well as the removal of the shoulder yoke on the black sweaters.
  16. http://news.sportslogos.net/2019/07/22/north-dakota-fighting-hawks-unveil-new-hockey-jerseys/ @MafiaMan, thoughts, comments, questions, concerns?
  17. Heck, why not keep the Senden, Hein, Smith line in tact? They seemed effective last year.
  18. I guess after years of going to CC games, I’ve gotten used to all of their participation banners hung directly above the ice.
  19. Question for the group: What is everyone’s thoughts on the placement of the new banners? My first thought was, they were more prominent when they were hung over the ice than where they are located now. It’s hard to determine if my first impression is correct without going in there and seeing them in person. Thoughts?
  20. Yah, JT Miller was a classic example of this. Didn’t he bail on us at the 11th hour?
  21. How about this as an option....UAA and/or UAF joining the Canadian college ranks? There’s been talk of Canadian schools joining the NCAA, why not the opposite? They could play the likes of Simon Frazier, University of BC, etc.
  22. I wanna say Haviland carried 30 guys on the roster last season. Not sure what the NCAA limit is, if there is one, but not a bad idea to carry a few extra non-scholarship guys in case of injuries.
  23. That’s what she said
  24. So you have it as fact that the reason UND wasn’t extended an invite is because of the reason you cite? The tone of your post sounds like you take delight in stating UND isn’t of the same academic standing/prestige as the affiliates or the B1G. Any chance to take a dig at UND is kinda how your posts come across to me.
  25. Good question. I don’t recall whether or not it was. I’m guessing not as we didn’t have any while waiting. Maybe bring a few road sodas with you just in case!
