I know we have a 4 goal lead but it would be nice if the UND play by play guy would refrain from comments like, “this game is won” and stuff like that. UND has proven to allow opponents to get life.

They’re featuring Mark Senden on the get to know your freshman and he said his uncle played college hockey. Last name Stewart. Does anyone know which Stewart he’s referring to? Was it Mark Stewart?

So I just saw Schlossman’s write up that Jimmy Schuldt won’t face any suspension so question, will UND put it past them and just focus on the game or will they attempt to get even with Schuldt?

You know, I could see if you’re in @MafiaMan‘s broomball league or @Godsmack‘s old man beer league getting away with a pass up the middle in your defensive zone but probably not advisable in D-I hockey against the #1 team in the nation.

Yah, he tried getting creative and cute with that pass in the middle of the ice instead of the easy, safe play off the boards or glass. He knew it too.

Oh yah, he definitely did and he took responsibility for it too.

And here I received my Frozen Faceoff tickets in the mail today. I guess I should prepare myself for the possibility that UND will not make it to St. Paul. Go Western Michigan??

Is there any accountability for the officials? My god, that knee on knee hit was so obvious and easy to see and both refs had to see it, particularly if they caught the retaliatory slash.

I’m not disagreeing with you, just not pinning this loss on Poolman. It was looking inevitable that St. Cloud was eventually going to take the lead anyway, it was just a matter of when.

Not that it’s excusable but I think Poolman got his pocket picked. St. Cloud’s speed exposed us overall.

Dave Starman put it best when he just said that St. Cloud is simply a faster team and that UND doesn’t have great team speed.

In my pre-season NCHC writeup on the CC Hockey Discussion page, I picked SCSU to win the Penrose despite many others going with the defending national champs. Pre-season picks usually aren’t worth the paper they’re written on but they’re fun to make. I thought-and continue to think-that St. Cloud is the deepest, most balanced team in the conference and so far, that’s holding true. There’s St. Cloud and then the other 7 teams. The interesting battle will be for spots 2, 3, and 4 as barring a collapse, the Huskies should easily win the conference but there will be a dog fight for the remaining 3 home ice spots as neither Duluth, Western, nor Denver appear as locks for any of those three remaining spots in any particular order.

I caught the interview with ASU Coach Greg Powers tonight on This Week in College Hockey on ESPNU and I guess they’re the only team in the nation to have 5 freshmen in double digits in scoring. They also have 10 or 11 guys overall in double digit scoring.

They refused to review it. But I digress. If I say too much here someone will tell me to take it on over at the non-UND game thread.

Apparently there were scheduling issues. I’m guessing the Broadmoor World Arena was already booked for something that day.

The CC/DU game got postponed due to weather and bad road conditions. It took DU 4 1/2 hours to get from Denver to Monument-normally about a 45 minute drive. In the interests of player and personnel safety, the decision was made to turn around and go back to campus. Game will be re-scheduled for sometime in February or early March.

Back story: There’s a little bit of controversy over building an on-campus arena at CC as the campus sits right next to the Old North End neighborhood where there’s a lot of old money. Residents of the old north end are concerned about the traffic that the new arena will generate.

I went back and watched it again tonight and Troy Conzo inexplicably fell on Scheel, he was never pushed. I don’t know how Haviland can argue that goal being waived off.

The Westin Michaud goal where a CC teammate interfered with Scheel in the blue paint, preventing him to get in position.To a man, that goal should have been waived off. If the tables were turned, I’d acknowledge that it should be waived off on UND.
