  1. Curious: What would Hak be saying publicly if he were the coach right now. Would he be showing some anger and frustration or would he be engaging in the typical coach speak?
  2. Yah, opponents have us pegged.....they show absolutely no fear when we go on the PP.
  3. So does anyone acutely remember the down years in the early ‘90’s? Was it lack of scoring, penalties, bad D, poor goaltending? Any similarities to the past few seasons?
  4. We already bought our Frozen Faceoff tickets. If UND doesn’t make it, it’s going to be pretty empty in the Excel Center.
  5. Maybe the amenities at the Ralph are sometimes a hinderence on our players?
  6. Hennessy’s dreaming. Territorially, yah, maybe we were the better team but Canisius was opportunistic. The GWG was a softie that I bet Scheel wants back but I’m not going to pin this loss on him. It’s asking a lot of your goalie to pitch a shutout or give up only 1 goal a game just to have a chance to win.
  7. Bernard-Docker didn’t play the puck carrier very well at neutral ice and got himself out of position leading to a two-on-one for an easy open net tap-in goal for the Griffins.
  8. Ha Ha! Well, the outcome wasn’t a highlight but the experience of seeing a game at a new arena for me was. My bucket list item is to see a college hockey game at every D-I arena in the country. I get a team puck or two at every new venue for me. The fans, locals, and school administrators here have been nothing short of friendly and accommodating and their fans have had very nice things to say about North Dakota and how much this home series means to them and the Canisius College hockey program.
  9. My wife and I just took a tour of the house where President Theodore Roosevelt was inaugurated shortly following the assassination of President McKinley in 1901 at the Panamerican Exposition in Buffalo, NY. If you are ever in Buffalo, I’d encourage you to take the tour as it enlightened me on what America was like at the turn of the century, the achievements and challenges of our nation at the time, and greater insight into Teddy Roosevelt as the man and our President. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip.
  10. And yet other blue bloods like DU keep humming along without missing a beat.
  11. Maybe time to jump on the Northeastern hockey bandwagon?
  12. In the Herald article, Gardner admits to not getting a good start in the first period and then chasing the rest of the game. My question is, how could they have not had the motivation to come out hard from the get go? They had to know how critically important the game was going into it, right?
  13. Maybe this is God’s way of getting even with me for reveling in Canada’s loss to Finland the other night? And yes....that’s much better, Mafia Man.
  14. And here I thought Trainwreck was exclusively reserved for my beer league team?!
  15. And in other hockey news, Ohio State and Michigan State skated to a 7-7 overtime tie. Has UND even scored 7 goals all season?
  16. It’s too hard for me to say if lines get juggled or not but taking all those penalties didn’t help create any sort of continuity. My experience with Atlantic Hockey refs is that there’s always an element of home cookin’ but I’d admit we made it easy on them to call the penalties that they called on us. The first period was a bad indicator of things to come. We had zone time and very few shots to speak of. Very little in the way of good looks in between the hash marks. Credit Canisius for packing things in tight in front of their goalie.
  17. Well, on the bright side, the UND/CC series should be one helluva series given how mediocre and inconsistent both programs seem to be.
  18. I was at the game tonight and while we had long stretches of zone time, we didn’t do anything with it. The shots we did put on net were either logo busters or the goalie had a clear view of them for easy saves. We don’t seem to have any creativity in the offensive zone and no finishers.
  19. Yah, it was tipped by the Canisius forward and changed directions on Scheel.
  20. Yes, Scheel was on his butt and they hit the post.
  21. Any UND fans making the trip out to Buffalo?
  22. https://www.uscho.com/2019/01/03/canisius-looking-to-springboard-from-pair-of-nonconference-weekends-against-ranked-teams/ Coach for Canisius talks about North Dakota coming to town this weekend.
  23. Game was televised on Altitude. Story of CC’s season-games lost tend to be because of lapses in the second period. Similar to the Friday night game at ASU, CC dictated play and had several grade A scoring chances in the first period only to fall asleep in the second, coughing up the lead and giving up 3 goals. The third period was spent chasing and as the final period went along, CC shortened their bench and the players looked tired. CC somehow needs to learn how to play more consistently through the middle part of games.
  24. “Why are you ruining the fantasy? We know the reality. Don’t mess with the fantasy, okay?”
  25. I miss the old days of the GLI when they’d have 3 Michigan schools and invite a non-Michigan based school as the 4th participant. I remember a goalie named Josh Siembida flying in at the last minute and standing on his head to help UND win the GLI about 15 years ago.
