So for a program like CC whose arena only holds between 3,000-3,500, using the 5,000 minimum as the standard, what do they do? How do they feasibly lock in a commitment for the neighboring Broadmoor World Arena (seats roughly 7,800)? World Arena is constantly being used for other events throughout the year. How do you lock the venue down for something that may not even come to fruition if CC doesn’t finish top 8? Edit: Just thought of something else here, World Arena is Olympic size, would they/could they even be used as an NCAA hockey tournament site given their ice sheet dimensions? What about other schools whose home ice isn’t the standard 200x85 as well, like Minnesota, Wisconsin, and St. Cloud, to name a few?

I watched the Duluth broadcast of the Friday night UMD/CC game. The production was terrible. The audio sounded like an old 1950’s broadcast through some old school AM radio.

I was shocked to hear Berry in the post game interview mention that Ness didn’t get a single shift in the first period and then comes out in the second period on his first shift of the game and scores a goal. Given how lackadaisical the team looked in the first, I’m kinda surprised he wasn’t inserted at least a shift or two as the first period progressed, just to see if he could’ve added some much needed juice.

So many conundrums. We haven’t lost in regulation since early November and yet this overtime slump has taken our spirits down. And then yet, here we are, inching closer to first place St. Cloud (3 points back if I’m not mistaken). I’m trying to keep a glass half full mentality but I won’t lie, it’s been difficult. Need a good response tonight for a multitude of reasons.

Meanwhile, over at Magness, DU is curb stomping SCSU.

Omaha was/is in a somewhat similar desperate situation as Alaska in that they’re 23rd pairwise coming into the weekend so securing some wins against UND, Denver, and St. Cloud these next three weeks will really help boost them in that regard. Unlike Alaska, Omaha has several games against teams ranked higher than them. They stuck to it and played with some desperation and tenacity.

Penalties on Wiebe and Perron were inexcusable. Lazy penalties that led to two goals.

Not sure where to have posted this but did anyone hear Flyers coach John Tortorella’s response when asked about BC Eagle Cutter Gauthier being traded to Anaheim? -Leave it to Torts to give an interesting response. Sounds like the kid had no interest playing for the Flyers organization. He made that clear talking about Sidney Crosby being his idol on draft day while wearing a Flyers hat and jersey. Listening to Kris Mayotte’s post game comments. Summery: Couldn't generate much offensively. Gave Minnesota too many odd man rushes. “It was awful, no poise by us.” Mayotte’s quote. About Snuggerud….”He’s a world class talent and we knew that coming in and that’s what makes Minnesota so good but the way you beat that is by playing as a team but tonight for whatever reason, we couldn’t find the recipe to play as a group of five. We played disconnected.” Logan Will/Brett Link/Ryan Beck line…created turnovers, played well again tonight. “We’ve got to be better; gotta get back to a commitment to who we are. It unraveled for us tonight for too long of stretches. Too long where we couldn’t get it back under us. We didn’t get the job done but the good thing is, we have a quick turnaround later this week.”

Anyone know what CC’s pairwise ranking is now with the loss tonight?

Sounds like a leaker by Mbereko based on CC’s play by play guy Ken Landau and it’s been all Gophers this period.

That’s the word on the street. Motzko wanted to get his star players back from the World Juniors for the series. Also, CC is still on winter break so they’re planning on staying in Minnesota for the entire week as they play at Duluth this weekend. Don’t have to worry about missing class by being gone the whole week.

It was a game play. Wisdom was going in on a breakaway when the Minnesota defender got a body on him from behind and pushed him into Close. Unfortunate things happen all the time resulting in player injuries. Good non-call.

I can live with that if it was legit. Wouldn’t want CC’s or UND’s opponents benefitting from a bad goal so can’t be upset if the refs waived off ours.

I went over to GPL last night after the game to try to get a sense of the thoughts and feelings of Gopher fans. They were not pleased with Justin Close and think the other goalie should start tonight. Also, they were not happy with all the D zone turnovers they gave up, and rightfully so. CC had so many good opportunities off turnovers by the Gophers. They’re nervous also because they fell to 14th in the Pairwise.

They’re televising it locally down here in the Springs but I “think” I saw somewhere that the games will be on the B1G+ streaming (I didn’t even know that was a thing).

How much rope does Gabinet have there at Omaha? More than Bergeron at Miami?
