I just saw a tweet from Todd Milewski that Mark Osiecki is out as well. Hasn’t he been a pretty successful assistant coach wherever he’s been for the most part? I think he might have been an assistant at UND at one time.

Only way I could see Sandelin leave Duluth for Bucky is if they paid him a lot more money (which they could afford to do).

2022-23 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

https://www.grandforksherald.com/podcasts/und-hockey-podcast At about the twenty minute mark of this podcast, Schlossman addresses the differences in the number and quality of cameras and camera angles from arena to arena within the conference. He cited the offsides challenge made by Berry in the road game at DU where DU scored as well as the Friday night game at CC where it appeared a CC player facemasked Hain. This begs the question, why isn’t there a uniform expectation of consistency among arenas to provide the same number of cameras and technology??! -
There appeared to be a spearing incident late in last night’s game that the refs reviewed but decided was only a 2 minute minor. Edit: This was in the CC/DU game. About 5 minutes to play, a CC player laid a big heavy but clean, body check on a Pios player. DU guy gets up and sticks the CC player either in the berries or belly, with the blade of his stick.

So now that Wisconsin’s season has ended, will we see a coaching change?
-
So last night when CC was leading, she says, “If CC ends up playing at Omaha, we should fly out there for the series next weekend!” I was like, “That sounds great!” Fast forward to after both the UND and CC games, and I’m like, “So we’re still going to Omaha next weekend right??!!” And she’s like, “He*# no!”
-
I was also surprised Jake never mentioned it either during the review.

Has anyone commented about the coaches challenge on Jandric’s goal regarding the fact that it appeared Tychonick had pulled Schmaltz’s stick the opposite direction and when he dove to block the shot, it looked like he released and Schmaltz pulled his stick back the opposite way and that’s why it appeared he’d interfered with the goalie. Not that re-litigating it matters at this point but this morning was my first real opportunity to watch it so it got me thinking.

I love your unbridled optimism!

Hennessy just said about Moore’s penalty, “A slash, a cross check you could’ve called a lot of things on Moore.”

Cooper Moore seems to make beautiful tape to tape passes in his own zone…to the other team.

Over/under on 6 dressing tonight?

Albrecht has been demoted to the extra forward role?

They also could’ve called a hold on Laba as he had a handful of Blake’s jersey on the goal.

I’m going to guess that Midco is picking up the local Colorado broadcast on AT&T Sportsnet.

Here’s the perspective from CC’s side of things about this weekend’s series… https://paisleyhockey.wordpress.com/2023/02/22/unranked-north-dakota-colorado-college-square-off-for-important-series-loaded-with-nchc-playoff-implications/

Based on their most recent game lineup, McKown and Cooley are paired up together on the top line and Laba’s centering the second line. I wouldn’t be surprised if Mayotte sometimes puts all three together in later stages of a game, particularly if they are down a goal.

So typically UND leaves a day earlier than normal for the Colorado road trips. That said, I’d be curious to know whether or not they’ll be able to fly out today given the bad weather and numerous flight cancellations already this morning. Edit: Just read that there’ve been over a 1,000 flight cancelations this morning, with most of those being flights into or out of Denver and Minneapolis.

Well, after finishing the first half of the season in third place in the standings, CC has really struggled in the second half, going 1-8-1 in their ten games since the start of the new year. In those ten games, scoring goals has become a real challenge. They’ve scored 11 goals during that stretch, largely relying on guys like Hunter McKown, Noah Laba, and Stanley Cooley. Besides those three, the production really drops off. What has kept some of the games within reach has been the outstanding goaltending of freshman goaltender, Kaidan Mbereko (could we see Matt Vernon enter the transfer portal at season’s end?). The Tigers are playing .500 hockey at Robson Arena, going 7-7-0.

2023-24 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Just to add some lighthearted commentary, back home visiting and was at the Sioux Shop picking up some stuff for my 3 year old daughter and afterwards I was out in the concourse looking at all the old pictures and historical stuff from those great Sioux teams from the 1950’s and beyond. The warm, proud feelings I always get whenever I look at pictures I’ve probably seen a hundred times and it never, ever gets old to me. I am so proud of this hockey program and the legacy all these great players and coaches have left. -
Anyone know if there will be Sioux boosters tomorrow?
