Can someone remind me which Gopher player it was who tossed his twig during his cele against us?

I haven’t seen or heard too much complaining about the age disparity among the Q and Minny players.

I thought the coaching by Pecknold was a thing of beauty. Such a ballsy call pulling the goalie with three minutes to play. At the time he did that, I openly complained to my wife how that was the wrong decision. Goes to show why he’s the coach and I’m sitting on my living room couch. Edit: Not to mention, that set play to start the overtime (which I eventually got to see after the fact). Just a great piece of coaching in such a high pressure game with everything at stake. Hats off to coach Pecknold and of course, to his players who executed.

Also, what’s the over/under on whether Gopher fans will whine about the age of the Quinnipiac players over on GPL?

I paused the game at the second intermission to do stories and put my 3 year old daughter to bed. So we’re reading stories and she goes out to the living room to get something and comes back and says, “I paused your game for you, daddy.” I thought nothing of that comment…B1G mistake! (pun intended) My wife and I come back out to the living room, and I suspected something happened so I quickly turned the channel so as not to see any spoilers. I then turn on the recording and we pick up where we left off. Fast forward to the end of regulation and the end of my recording so I turn the channel back over to ESPN2 and BOOM! -I see Quinnipiac celebrating. I totally missed the overtime! Full disclosure, I am in no way mad at my kid. In fact, when I saw Q celebrating I laughed out loud and said to my wife, “Well, we don’t have to worry about Minnesota winning in overtime!” So can someone here tell me how Q scored because I still don’t know! Congrats to the Bobcats. I respected the hell out of them and how hard they played, particularly that third period. Great game.

I personally have no issue with the guy either. I think he’s done a phenomenal job during his 29 years there. One of my favorite UND road trips of all time happened last season when I went out to Connecticut for the series against Q. The local fans were super cool and nice and many of them came up to me to chat and were impressed with the number of fans in green who showed up for the series.

Well, if the relationship between Pecknold and UND is that bad, why did he and Berry schedule their two series against one another this year and last? Seemingly things aren’t that toxic between the two programs.

I wasn’t aware that Fantilli had off ice issues. I took Schloss’ comments to just mean he’d taken quite a few penalties and detractors were saying that’s why he didn’t deserve to win the Hobey.

I liked what Schloss said the other day on his podcast that it’s the Hobey Baker award for the best college hockey player, it’s not the Lady Bing award.

Last night, initially I was pulling for Michigan from the simple standpoint of who I thought had a better chance at beating the Gophers. After all, they’d just beaten Minnesota at Mariucci in the big ten championship game so we know they were capable. However, by the game’s conclusion, Q won me over. They demonstrated the ability to neutralize a dynamic offense. And they’re not too shabby in their own right as well.

Wasn’t Lucia pushing for some NCAA rule change that would’ve limited teams from having older players? I seem to recall that in the news his last few years at Minnesota. I think he got a lot of heat for it from the rest of the college hockey community.

I believe I heard one of the ESPN guys say Q is one of the least penalized teams. Let’s hope that holds up on Saturday.

So I haven’t heard Melrose at all this game. Is he there?

That dude for Q will have nightmares for years on missing that open net if they end up losing this game.

I was clapping really loud when BU tied it up and my wife yells from upstairs, “YOU DON’T EVEN LIKE THEM!” I replied, “Yah, but I hate the Gophers!”

Refs been calling it tight all period. That interference call against the Gophers looked like a make up call for having been calling all those legit penalties against the Terriers.
