  1. I agree 100% Carl. It is frustrating that they show bowling and the spelling bee on ESPN but they don't show college hockey. However I do find the World Series of Poker very interesting, seriously. I think not showing college hockey might have to do with the time scheduling. There is college b-ball during the college hockey season and about 75% of the country would rather watch college b-ball.
  2. I agree about watching college sports over profecssional. I love college hockey, basketball, and football. All of the games are great no matter who plays.
  3. I just thought it would be interesting to see how many Sioux fans actually list hockey as their favorite sport to watch. My favorite sport to watch is football followed closely by hockey. I can watch just about any football game that is on tv. I have trouble watching hockey games other than the Sioux and Wild.
  4. I agree and disagree with Thomas at the same time. I don't think any sporting event is a place to swear or curse. On the other hand, not letting the students stand up during play is absurd. Also, I have can hear some of what the students chant during games and it is no worse than any other place. I have been to other college hockey arenas and the students at UND are not as bad as some students. Once again, I don't think swearing is appropriate at anyplace but making fun of fans and players from visiting teams is extremely appropriate.
  5. If the Gophers and Sioux met in the finals that would be the greatest day of my life. There is no way the Gophers will win 3. It's just impossible. It can't happen because if it does I will never show my face in public.
  6. What is this message board coming to?
  7. There is a lot of games left to play for the Sioux and yet there isn't. I am nervous because this is the time of year where they should be on the ball scoring goals and making great saves. I think a person still has to stay very optimistic about our situation.
  8. I wouldn't believe a word Sid Hartman says. He could be the worst sports writer in the country.
  9. It looks like the future of Sioux hockey is looking extremely bright. Does anyone know the goalie situation for the next couple of years?
  10. What a positive thread this is. I'm so happy we can come on here and talk about our perfect little hockey team. Everything is just swell.
  11. What fun is it to be positive all the time? I don't think we're knocking the Sioux as much as we are discussing the situation of the season. This is what fans do, they talk about scenarios on how the season is going. To anyone who pays attention to Sioux hockey this season IS looking a lot like last season. A great start and a poor finish. As for our goalies, they are the achilles heel of the team! It's the weakest position on the team. They been a pleasant surprise for most of the year. Nobody is saying they are worthless however. Whoever gave you the impression that Sioux fans think the goalies are worthless is completely mistaken.
  12. The loss to Wisconsin isn't a bad thing...yet. This was a good time to lose a game if they were going to lose one. The Sioux still have alot of games left to start up another good streak before the playoffs. HOWEVER, tonight will be the big test. They have to come out from the first period and completely dominate the Badgers. No let downs in the second period. They need to come out strong and play a solid game with J Par in the net. If J Par plays well tonight and gets the W I don't see him going away. We need to find a steady goalie to ride through the playoffs. I don't care what people say about having two decent goalies being a good thing. It might be during the regular season but it rarely works in the playoffs (the Wild are about the only team). A team needs consistency when going into the playoffs. No disrespect to Jaker but you have to win and he didn't. It's not a bad thing to be a backup goalie anyway. In my opinion it's one of the most important positions on the team. You can't have some headcase as your backup. The backup goalie probably has to be the most mentally tough player on the team. I'm sure Jaker will get another shot to prove himself but you have to go with J Par for now. J Par is our man!
  13. What is up with that? The first time SportCenter shows a college hockey highlight that isn't the NCAA tourney and it's the Sioux losing.
  14. I appreciate it. You da man!
  15. I was wondering if you had to be a certain age to watch the game at Joe Senser's. I will be down in the cities on Saturday and was wondering. I'm 19.
  16. You know it's bad when the football team has a higher GPA than you. No offense toward the football team.
  17. What is Kupchella talking about? Has he been to any other college in the country? I have been to many UND hockey and football games and I have never seen a student body more crazy and exciting than UND's. They are some of the best fans in the world. There are so many other colleges with students who are ignorant and immature. Why did Kupchella come out and say those things now? Did something happen at UND that I'm not aware of? Unbelievable that Kupchella would go and say those things.
  18. I didn't even start talking about Sioux-per dogs first! I don't mean to sound like I'm 5 years old but Bisonguy started talking about it first. If you don't enjoy the conversation why the heck are you reading it! Just click on a different thread. I suppose that maybe a little tough for you since you're a St. Cloud fan though.
  19. Obviously they aren't going to name them Roger Thomas weiners because it doesn't sound good. I don't think they would sell to many. It's a Sioux-per dog. How is that a bad thing at all? They are super dogs so they call them Sioux-per dogs. I don't see how that is a bad thing.
  20. Did you read my post at all? If you did read it again.
  21. Shotglasses? Sioux-per dogs? Calling the hot dog a "Sioux-per dog" isn't honoring the Sioux people but is it really poking fun at them? You're calling it a "Sioux-per dog" implying that it's super. It's a good thing. Every organization that UND sponsors is honoring the Sioux people. From their best hockey team in the nation to the chess club.
  22. Some people would call me an idiot. Some people would say I am very smart. It depends on how you get to know me. I like to think I'm pretty smart. I mean I go to a private college and get pretty good grades. That's enough about me though I'm sure you're getting quite bored. I'm comparing two nicknames! You couldn't be more wrong. I'm comparing a nickname that honors a people to a nickname that honors a dog. It's not like UND has some guy dressed up in a Sioux costume and is dancing around during events. In no way has UND ever embarassed, disgraced, or made fun of the Sioux people. They are honoring them and that is it.
  23. I have to say that it was a great first period. I was at the game and wow! The Ralph was rockin'. Some great goals by Murray and Lundb(l)ohm. It was a lot of fun to watch and be apart of. When the fans get that excited for a team like Denver you know you have great fans and a great team. The beginning of the second period things sort of died down but it was great nonetheless. It will be harder for the Sioux tonight but I think they will come out hungry once again.
  24. Wow! I knew SCSU people were stupid but I didn't know how stupid. Unbelievable! I'm not a big NHL buff but I'm pretty sure Tyler Arneson is in the upper echelon of NHL players. I didn't know he went to SCSU. That's amazing that they would blur out the logo. Total ignorance! I have two Siberian Husky dogs and they tell me that they're offended by the SCSU nickname and logo. They won't go to any sporting even that the Husky's play in.
