Goldy should be shot in the head! He is the stupidest mascot of any sports team.
Sounds like Goldy had it coming to him. If he can taunt a fan why can't the fan taunt him back. I agree that the fan probably shouldn't have thrown the hand on the ice.
My favorite:
5. R-Zach Beats I-saac
There are many good ones though. Keep them original. No offense or anything but nobody wants to see "Wrap them up Sioux." It's somewhat cheesy.
Are we spoiled?
I don't think so. I think we are grateful fans. Most of us realize how great we got it. I do anyways. We could be fans of another team that has never won a national championship, but we aren't. We're special! We're Sioux fans!
My vote would be a close call but goes to the 1999-2000 Champions. So many great players on that team it was unreal. Then again, there was so many great players on every team.
Mike Commodore is my favorite Sioux player of all-time. He is what got me really gung-ho about Sioux hockey. I remember my dad took me to a game when I was a little younger and I remember seeing Mike with his huge red hair pound the crap out of a St. Cloud St. guy. He's the type of player we need more of. I don't think there is enough fighting in hockey.
Thanks Mikey!
Obviously this person does not attend a lot of sporting events.
These wackos that don't like the students standing all the time and don't care for the profanity should all take a long walk down a short pier.
Who defends a Gopher fan in the middle of the Sioux student section and claims to be a Sioux fan? I'm dissappointed at the students of UND for not taking this guy out to the parking lot after the game and pounding him.
People like this person should be exiled to operas and dog shows.
I'm not bad mouthing Karl. I think Karl was one of the greatest goalies ever to play for the Sioux. I just don't think he is better than Eddie.
I agree that Karl had a better career with the Sioux BUT Eddie played one season with the Sioux and won a national championship and went 29-4. This one season and his successful NHL career makes Eddie the best ever to put on a Sioux uniform.
One could make a very strong case for Tony Hrkac.
I would say you have to take into account both. If a player has an unbelievable time while playing for the Sioux and never can make it in the NHL then he probably isn't the best ever. If a player doesn't play all that well for the Sioux and has a great career in the NHL then that would hinder his chances as well.
I don't know how in the world you could put Karl Goehring above Ed Belfour. That's just crazy talk to me!
Keep in mind that I'm more new school than old school.
My choice would have to be Ed Belfour because he was exceptional when he played for the Sioux and he has had such great success in the NHL.
The best player that I ever got to see play was Jeff Panzer. He was unbelievable to watch. The way he could frustrate other teams with his speed was just unreal. Parise and Murray remind me of him the way they can pester opponents on the powerplays.
