So, I'm not looking past this weekend or just assuming we will be at the Frozen Four, this is just for fun .... Aside from my bracket having UND getting out of our region, who would we play in Boston? UMD (Solid team)? Goofers (Been playing better lately)? Yale (Great Goalie)? Boston U (Regional Favorite)? I have Duluth beating Minnesota; though that was one of the hardest games to pick on my bracket. And I have BU beating Yale, though with a hot goalie there is always upset potential. Then I have have Boston U beating Duluth. Which led me to the question of how would UND match up against BU. '05 4-0 UND Wins (Easter Regional - Worcester) '08 5-1 UND Loses (Icebreaker - Boston) '12 4-2 UND Wins; 4-2 UND Loses (Grand Forks) '13 3-1 UND Loses; 3-3 Tie (Boston) Ultimately, the thought of playing BU doesn't scare me, but the idea of playing BU in Boston, is a little more daunting. We won a tourney game against them in Worcester, though that was in '04 and our success in Boston has not been great since then (We also lost to Yale in Worcester - NE Region '10). That being said, every year is different; different players, different teams. I think UND has the depth to win their region and the tourney, but only if they play their game. Can this be the year we finally get #8? Can we get out of Fargo and find success in Boston? Take care of business Friday! Go Sioux!

I actually don't HATE Rough Riders .... BUT I strongly oppose any new nickname. Given the option of that or Green Meadowlark, everyone's choice is fairly clear.

Go home, you're drunk! .... and clearly stuck in another decade if you are listening to DMX. "University of North Dakota" .... is all the nickname I need.

hahaha, well played

Agreed, Mattson is a defenseman who can produce offense. Though, I don't see him going into the corners and making plays. He needs to stay put. If you really want him to make an impact, tell whomever IS playing forward to create space and get the puck to Nick to shoot.

This was one of the dumbest things to be put into print. If UND does this they can expect to take a hit on alumni contributions. It was bad enough to take away the Fighting Sioux name, but replace it with this garbage and you will only do more damage. Just stay "University of North Dakota", Nothing else is needed.

I was joking. Eluding to the fact that the kids swings and misses more than anyone I've seen. He has a hell of a shot when he doesn't lose control of the puck. If he can get a handle on the puck, he could really increase he scoring. Definitely some power behind his wrist shot though.

Anyone else feel like the coaches should give Johnson a stick that was maybe an inch longer? He could have 20 goals rather than 20 whiffs on the season. Seriously though, LJ is a guy they need to step up and be an impact player.

I think we need to get back to getting bodies in front of the net, and letting our D get some clean shots off. Defensive scoring has been big for us all year. I think Mattson has a big weekend.

As long as your remaining lines aren't a total liability.

IS IT FRIDAY YET!!!

I always remember hearing it was really intimidating to play there. With so much less open space, I could see it getting really loud in there. I ran into Dan Woog a few years back and talked hockey with him, he said playing there, it was like the fans were right on top of you. We can hope for some of that environment this weekend. Side note: Dan also said he learned some interesting facts, from the fans, about his mother, family, and why he made the team when he came up to play against the Sioux. Pretty nice guy.

Naturally, hosting in the Ralph would have been tremendous, but it should still be a pretty solid environment in Scheels. I am hoping that with the size of the building, it may actually get louder in there. Can anyone offer a comparison of the size or build of the arena to the old Ralph? I never made it to a game there but I always hear it was a really intimidating environment. Does Scheels compare in size, or was the old Ralph still way bigger?

Can we get a packed house from 11:30 to 3:00, with nothing but the SIV chant going?
-
Aside from us just needing to win, It wouldn't hurt to see Tech and St Cloud play a high paced, triple OT game either.
-
Isn't that when they were in the middle of their 3 consecutive Broadmoor trophies?

Been a fairly clean game, but I have been wondering the same. Especially after such a weak call against us. -

Maybe, but both teams have to deal with ice conditions. -

Typical tournament play? Not so distant past they won 3 straight broadmoor trophies. -

I thought I read that the top seed had a preference. I assume coaches wan't to give the guys extra rest time by playing the early game on Friday. And if thats not the actual reason, it is an added benefit. -
