  1. THIS!!
  2. University of North Dakota Fighting Cornholios!?!?!? We can all through TP on the ice during games.
  3. makes sense. I don't know how many rounds are in this draft, but I assume round 9 is about the end. Probably a low risk high reward kind of pick.
  4. Since you have Stallions on your list, any idea why Nokota was on the "Not under consideration" list?
  5. Pretty sure Tomek is coming to UND regardless of what Zane does. At least that is what I have read.
  6. Strange I saw Nokota/Nokes on the "not considered" list
  7. No New Nickname. Just North Dakota, that is all I ask.
  8. North Dakota!
  9. Why would The Nokota be eliminated from contention? Alot of submissions, and what is offensive a out a horse?
  10. Wasn't Troy Hansen one of those late commits we got? I want to say he was waiting on a potential FBS offer; or am I thinking of a different guy. Either way, thats a shame. Pretty tacky to back out on a commitment like that.
  11. How competive should we expect this group to be next season?
  12. You are correct, I know for a fact the band is not allowed to wear anything with a sioux logo on it.
  13. I think for me, this whole frustration extends way beyond just the sioux nickname. It is the entire politically correct initiative that is sweeping across this country. Some people don't like the Sioux name, we have to get rid of it. Some people still want to refer to the name, or no name leaves the door too wide open on the issue ... adopt a new name. You adopted a new name ... there are still too many people wearing old apparely and saying the name ... do something about it. Always giving into this type of whining and complaining is incredibly frustrating to watch, because it will only continue. People will continue to find something to whine and complain about, and they will continue to get their way. This extends far beyond UND and the Sioux name, but it is just another perfect example. Even when these people get their way (name dropped), they push for more.
  14. Just giving you a hard time. I would definitely buy UND gear. Buying a new name and logo would solely depend on what it is, but I would more likely try to make what I have last, or buy what I can find online. When I went to UND we were the Fighting Sioux, its what I would prefer to wear. Always of fan of the University though, wouldn't cheer for anyone else.
  15. I'll would definitely cheer on our team, but will still have my Sioux jersey on. Sorry, you will never get me to wear a Sun Dogs logo.
  16. This is actually pretty hilarious
  17. Sun Dogs? As in ligh refracting from the Sun? This is something we want to use to replace the Fighting Sioux? The argument against No Name has been we need an cool name and logo that we can market; and we are going to go with "light"? I hate to be such a downer on the subject, but many of the suggestions seem to be getting more and more ridiculous. Imagine if the UofM was in our situation, and they adopted Sun Dogs, Fighting Stars, The Magic, Etc? Our fans would not let them hear the end of it. I'm all for "No Nickname" or the NoDaks if you must. BUT if we HAD to pick something else Nokota or Roughriders. *Most people outside of the Red River Valley and local region care if it is the high schools name. When you are talking about branding your school nationally, as many have argued, have the same name as a high school will be unknown to most and completely irrelevant.
  18. North Stars is dumb, as we are just taking the name of Minnesota's former NHL team. The ridicule would never stop. This would be kind of cool if it wasn't being taken from a Minnesota team Ermines are weasels Please nothing weather related. (Storm, Lightning, Fighting Raindrops, Etc.) Shooting stars? Please NO Fighting Stars? What the hell is a fighting star? NO! And the question is really asked why some people prefer No Nickname? For some, it is not about preserving Fighting Sioux as the unofficial nickname; it is more about not sticking our school with something stupid on our jersey that makes us laughable. Which most, not all, new suggestions have been.
  19. No Nickname
  20. Edmonton has the 1st pick this year and for the forseeable future.
  21. I'm not a big Bohl fan, but chalking up that much success to luck seems a little ridiculous. By the same logic, their current coach was completely lucky to win a Nat'l title, since he had Bohl's players. Sure, he was dealt good cards, but he still had to play em right.
  22. I like how everyone on this thread is apparently a contract lawyer. I think everyone is looking into the specific language too much, and thinks the NCAA really cares more than they do. IMO, they already won their fight; we got rid of the name and logo and despite the contractual language I don't think they care if the University of North Dakota is UND or the UND Norse/Roughriders/Jets/etc. The NCAA doesn't have an actual opinion on the issue of it would have been a single rule to apply to all schools across the board. The NCAAs entire stance on this issue is nothing more that a PR move to show that they are trying to be sensitive to liberal PC crowd, whild still appeasing their large money making schools. As mentioned earlier, I think their approach to the issue would be that if fans continue to wear Sioux apparel and use the name they will be dissappointed, but it is out of their control and they have done all they can by working with "forcing" the university to retire the name. They will say they cannot control the narrow mindedness of all fans. The NCAA doesn't have morals one way or another, and like I said for them this has been a PR victory to the liberal PC crowd.
  23. This may be true for you, but not everyone. I'll tell you this, people will do what they want regardless of what happens. Even if they do adopt a new name, I'll still call them the Sioux. More out of habit than anything else. Personally, I just don't see anything they can replace it with that will be as cool as what they had. I agree that saying "no nickname is unique" is dumb, but "staying just UND is fine", whats wrong with that. Seriously, I would be perfectly ok with that and would completely rally around the team. I don't think everyone who wan't no nickname, is purely to keep the "Unofficial Fighting Sioux". Sure that is the goal of many, but even so, who cares what their intent is. Adopting a new nickname will change what some people refer to the team as, but not all. Keeping no nickname would do the same. Doesn't really matter at this point anyway. Unfortunately we will just have to see how the process plays out. If no nickname is on the ballot, that will be my vote. Otherwise, I'll pick the best I see. My greater concern is whom all is allowed to vote on this, which I believe has been brought up before.
  24. For me, there isn't something that will be good enough to replace the Fighting Sioux. I'm perfectly content with University of North Dakota, UND, or even NoDaks if we must. Just a personal preference. I'll always cheer for our teams, but it would always leave a bad tast in my mouth to watch our team on the ice with a big roughrider, Jets, Aviators, etc logo on the jersey. Seems stupid to be so attached to a name and a logo, but I'm obviously not alone. I still maintain that if UND chooses to not transition to a new nickname, they could state their nickname would be "UND". The agreement may require a new nickname, but there are no parameters to that nickname other than it cannot be deemed hostil and abusive. If they truly forced us to adopt something, they could be the NoDaks, which would really be no different. As I have also stated for those who believe we must pick a new name, if Kelley and the nickname task force have already stated that no nickname is still on the table, it likely mean that it has already been cleared with the NCAA, or they wouldn't state it. Pure speculation, but I think as long as UND has officially dropped the nickname, the NCAA is happy. They can state publicly that they did everything in their power to eliminate "hostility" from the school and the NCAA; they would also likely state that if fans continue to wear apparel and use the Sioux name there is nothing they can do to change the narrow mindedness of those fans. Again, pure speculation but I think that would be their approach. These people are corrupt and money hungry, but they are not all that stupid.
  25. and John could be considered a nickname, short for Jonathan. Others would argue it is an abbreviated name. Point is, this argument is really starting to split hairs. If UND decided not to adopt a new nickname, they will. and if the NCAA argues that, then they can say UND or NoDak is our nickname. If the administration has said that no nickname is still being considered, they have likely already discussed the matter with the NCAA, or they would have said it is off the table to be in compliance with the agreement.
