I wasn't surprised at the article, but I was kind of hoping for Yale to show it's snootiness more. You know, a high brow article of condescendance and snide-ness. Only Tim Taylor used the only word above an eighth grade vocabulary (Opulent) and he's not even from Yale initially. If they were making us out to be the Cowboys, we'd have had a few more cocaine busts and Bochenski would turn into a locker room minister.

I have faith. Bochenski averaged what.. 4 goals against BC? BC has a team that's almost comparable to the Gophers. I agree, the Gophers have more defensive talent, but who is going to argue if Kaltainin vs JJ as a better goaltender? I will admit that at least MN didn't import a goaltender. UND tried and all we got was Siembida

Are you sure? Are you saying that Parise's win against UMD was meaningless? How about his earning of the WCHA rookee of the week? Seriously though, Jordan had a bad game. But hey, 3 goals on 9 shots or so isn't great. Remember, one of those four goals was scored against Ziggy. I don't think we should be running to the forefront calling for heads to roll. Good grief, it was YALE. He's a freshman. With this mindset, you might as well start slamming Murray for only having one goal and Zach for waiting this late to get a goal let alone three. Give it a rest. Now that sacrasm has left me. It was a good series, lopsided, but good. Great officiating. Every penalty was understandable. Yes, even the fracas concerning the Brandt incident. Stafford should have continued to let himself be headlocked and then he could have drawn a four on 3 power play for us but he reltaliated and drew a penalty. Trust me, every penalty was a penalty. My only regret is that #5 from Yale (Mole his name is I think) didn't get flattened by Greene on top of Porter's smack down. You don't slash a goalie regardless of which team it is and who he is. Regardless, I am sure that Brandt will start both games unless we blow them away on Friday (highly doubtful).

Foyt had better position sure, but Foyt's not registered a point yet. Bina has. Remember, Bina is a lot more touted by the area because of his juniors and high school performances. That's why he's on scholarship and Foyt is a walk on. If either of them play at all, I'd expect Bina to play for that reason. Besides it was interesting to see him on the same line as Smaby. "Bina and Smaby plays David and Goliath on the blue line. A blue line of biblical proportions!"

Campion definitely said Sheperd will be reffing this weekend. So if I were Blais, I'd start practicing the penalty kill without players like Prpich, Greene, Smaby, and perhaps Schneider and Porter on it. Also, practice 5x3s. My estimate is at least 10 penalties Friday night and 8 Saturday. And then you can add the penalties against MN. I talked to Campion quite a bit, even seeing him at Green Mill after the game (didn't get to talk to him at all though at Green Mill). He's a classy guy. Carton is a good guy as well. He even gave me a puck after the game I'm predicting a stress-less weekend for me because I won't have to watch these games. Neither game will be a shutout. But they will be low scoring. Minnesota seemingly have not put a lot of emphasis on their games thus far, but Minnesota can be down and out and always do well against us. I suspect overtime on Friday if not Saturday's game. The Gophers will undoubtedly look better on Friday than Saturday, which is too bad because we're better on Friday's. I suspect status quo. MN will score first on both games. I also don't look for our power play to get out of its slump until the SCSU series. We even gave up shots on the short hand to Yale. We really need Sandalin back to whip our special teams into shape :/ If we split, MN will win on Friday. I hope Brandt starts both games, but it appears as though Blais likes to start Parise on Fridays, but who knows. If I were there, I'd make a sign saying "Pelt the Gophers" but I'm not there.

Bochenski was not that great in the first period. He wasn't completing checks and the Sioux were giving up way to many turnovers in the first period and even some in the third. There was some diving out there by Yale, but nothing too serious. I loved how Mayer (#8) tried to sell it, but Campion didn't dig it. In any case, Steeves is one cheap joke of a hockey player. As for Gartner, yes, I would most definitely think he did and he should have. He truly is the only great player on the Bulldogs. He was left high and dry pretty much from the second period onwards. I think him and Cam Ellsworth should get together and chat. Both of them seem to know what it is meant to be out on the clothsline. We'll see better things tonight I hope.

That was definitely Connelly

Which means Kyle watched tonight's game. I wish we could get him here to give us his take on the game.

If you are ESPN and work on Sportscenter you only have to know about basketball. The rest is spoonfed you through teleprompters. The exceptions being the shows that focus on the particular sport such as NHL tonight, Baseball tonight, etc. Don't be too quick to laud a station that has no respect for any sports outside of basketball, baseball, and football. Even when there isn't anything happening in those three sports, they'll still throw on worthless things like world series of poker, billiards, and that crap. I could care less about who is the premier mens or women's pro bowler. If I wanted to watch bowling I'd go to Red Ray lanes

I really don't mind the UMD updates as long as it doesn't turn into a pissing contest between UMD and UND. However, in this case, the UMD game bears no relevance to UND (unlike the UMD vs UM series) so I'd say final score updates would be fine.

Massen saw the ice a bit but didn't get in on any plays. The first goal was a hard shot for Parise to stop. The third goal or was it the fourth? Was an impressive goal by number 13 of Yale. NO WAY anyone could have stopped it. Actually, from my angle, it looked a lot like the same move that won BC the game in over time in 2001. Great move. I think the plays of the night were: On offense, Brady Murray's pass to Bochenski. UNBELIEVABLE pass. WOW! 3 assists for Murray tonight. Defensive play of the game was Ziggy's stop on the breakaway. Notable players on the ice to me were Colby Genoway, Mike Prpich, and Brady Murray. Yes, Colby got a goal and Murray had three assists, but that's not why I thought they deserved recognition. They skated their butts off tonight. They were incredible on the ice. All Prpich needed was a goal and I thought he'd be player of the game. Instead, I think the three stars of todays game are: Bochenski, Murray, and Porter (Fylling could also work). And the way we were missing the net in the first period, we could have ended up with an 11-4 win.

Campion is a class act. He's a quality ref. If I were Dean Blais, I'd see if he couldn't work some back alley tactic to get him to ref all our games. Yeah, he missed a few plays that could have been penalties but the also missed some that could have been called on us. All in all, he let the game be played. It was kindof sad that the fans got on his case about the goal he negated. It wasn't obvious at first, but the replay clearly shoed it got kicked in. A good game. I'm now really convinced that his time in the WCHA is numbered. Before too long he'll get noticed and off he goes to the NHL. Then we'll be back to Anderson and Sheperd. UMD, my condolences.

I hope so. Greedy sports agents are one of the biggest reasons why sports is like it is now. Miserly owners and greedy players are the other reasons. Heck, if it weren't for free agency, do you think we'd be talking about a possible strike next season?

I think his switch in political allegiance is hardly noteworthy. Afterall, Minnesota's new senator, Norm whatshisname, was a card carrying Democrat and now he's listed as Republican. No one is calling him a snake... to my knowledge. Just remember folks, not all Democrats are flame mouthed extreme liberals. Not all Republicans are Rush Limbaugh style conservatives. There are good Democrats and there are good Republicans. Unfortunately, it takes a lot for them to get elected because the rotten ones usually have all the money.

Because I already know everyone loves my polls. And if I had a dirty mind I would also state that.... nevermind
-
UND Flickertail will love that add. It's like the LeBron James commercial where he stops and sits there and basically wastes 30 seconds of air time. It means nothing (Unless you are saying James and the NBA is just a waste of air time, which I'd think is very effective)
-
UND 5-3, 3-1 Parise-Ziggy in Game 1, Brandt in Game 2. Aw what the hell, the one goal in game two will be attributed to a bad call by the ref. Maybe one or two on Friday too.
-
Give me a chance! I'm trying to formulate enough polls to satisfy everyone!
-
Ouch. But really, who is homeboy?

Pretty stoked about the point. I hope his AHL days are at a close. Off to the races in the NHL.
-
Yup. He turned pro

I'm being its like the host of wheel of fortune. Sajak (or however you spell his name). So Zajac would be pronounced Zay-jack. But who knows.

Ok, I don't want to start a whole thread on this so maybe someone could email me or PM me the story, but I would love to know what is the deal specifically with Chris Fournier? I've gathered tidbits here and there but nothing specific. I wasn't around when he wore a Sioux jersey.

It was the penalty kill yes. I was very impressed that he won it. Showed that Boyle isn't the only d man who can take the faceoff.
