I'm thinking it was Blais. In the first and most of the second, they just weren't making shots period. They were being far too pretty. As soon as they started letting em fly, that's when good things happened. Matti is pretty easily beat stick side. Especially from elbow height and higher Jordan could have made a save on one of the BC's goals (I think #3) if he would have had his stick swuared to the shooter. Instead he couldn't get the pads tight enough and the puck went five hole. And the good news, I got to sit next to Doug Flutie!

Stafford and Bochenski baby. Schneider was sharp too! Jordan Parise stood on his head after BC's third goal. Yes, I know BC scored one after that, but a BC player was about 10 feet or so offsides. Anderson isn't new. I believe he reffed the MTU vs UND series last year. Usually he swallows the whistle in game one and then screws everyone over in game two. Anderson has now surpassed Mike Schmitt and Don Adam to take the second worst ref in the WCHA slot behind Derek Sheperd. Wholly unnecesary penalties and missed offsides calls (odd since Hanson and Freeman are very quick to call the Sioux offsides) dominated an otherwise excellent game. I think Greene had 2 minutes or did he sit in the box at all?

Didn't know he was out of hockey for good. Wow. As for Dan Moriarty, the other sportscaster, I don't think he really got much of a word in over Jack. Jack= Freaking Idiot Dan= Freaking Tool Both= Freaking SUCK!

I expect trash talk, but bigotry? Round up enough Canadians? Whatever. We belong in Canada? Oh, that's really smart. Why don't you go play with your farm implements. I'm FROM Fargo, pal. I was there through NDSU championships and droughts. I was there to watch them win and lose. I know how much of a football town Fargo is. My next door neighbor is a hockey fan and he roots for the Sioux. And it is well known that NDSU had an opportunity to get into hockey but they passed on it. It wasn't a blunder, like davek suggests, but it was simply a choice in priorities. I may attend UND and I may trash talk NDSU, but I don't consider them anti American. You have to be a real dirty human being to call 13,000 people anti american because of where they attend school. I'm not Canadian. I never will be, but if people like you were in power, I certainly wouldn't be patriotic. And by the way, according to the 13th Ave Scheels Sales manager, UND Hockey sells more apparrel there than NDSU apparrel. For an unknown DI program, our tshirts and jerseys must look cool or something. And well, we've been on ESPN. How many times has your D I-AA Football team made it on ESPN? -
I still will question it if he does play. Donald Brashear of the Flyers sprained his MCL and he's out for 6 weeks. Something's up here.

I'm pretty sure it is the Holiday Inn for a few reasons: 1) Location 2) Location 3) Location I do know that visiting artists, like Kenny Chesney stayed at the Holiday Inn. I only know that because I had a friend who worked there at the time. Last year, the hockey teams stayed there too. Probably this year too. FYI- Alex Leavitt sued UW over that incident this week. Didn't know it was in GF when it happened.

Anyone know how much it costs to watch the Saturday SSM game?

Looks like the Sioux are already looking for...

Hurts is like when your best friend runs off with your Bison/UND football tickets and sells them. Injuries are what results when I found that out -
Sounds good to me. I'm kinda hoping that Greene does the same scene vs BC as in Slapshot (running by the BC Bench and knocking them all in the head with the stick). It'd be awesome. Curious: How many counts of high sticking would he get? One double minor? A 5 minute major? How many people here want to make a wager that Derek Sheperd will be the ref?

Good luck getting everyone in the REA to yell and screem. 75% of the time it's just the students and a handful of dedicated Sioux fans making noise. The rest are just there to get better resolution than their non-HDTV can give them

I've been carrying a flame saying "Ban Jack Edwards from Professional Sportscasting" since that series. That pinhead on USCHO is just one of his groupies. Good Grief, Jeff Farkas is the best darn thing since the Almighty invented ice, by Mr. "Blabberjaw" Edwards' own admission. Of course, his NHL impact has been... oh wait! He's been traded to Vancouver (I think?) and oh yeah, looking very Gretzky like in the AHL. So far, neither Mottau nor Farkas has turned out into anything more than middle of the road NHLers that have trouble finding ice time. I still remember Jeff Farkas' "Move of the playoffs" and Goehring stoned him. No mention of the save. I don't care if the guy does a high jump, toe clip into a triple lutz while singing god bless america and shooting sunshine out of his breezers, but if it is going to be the "move of the playoffs" that features a shot on goal, there better be a red light on after the shot. Can you tell I have no respect of Jack Edwards?

Anyone remember Mark Mcgwire? Great BBall player, no? Yeah, well, he stubbed his toe while exitting the tub and went on the day to day list. WOW. Jim Thome is the same way. That's why Football and Hockey are the best sports in the world. Stubbing toes and breaking fingernails are piss ant injuries that only produce the whine "Put more tape on that damn thing, I need to get out and play NOW!"

Herald Editorial - UND Football Ticket Prices

Bah. I think that it is going to help UND in a shallow sort of way. It means that we have a better chance of getting more NCs. But anyways, I think that the NCC should invite Colorado College now that NDSU is gone and that DIII bill has apparently passed. That way there may be a new rivalry forming. Perhaps they can schedule a CC v UND football + hockey weekend. -
It's my understanding that NDSU wouldn't be playing Michigan and those peeps. But if they did, I'd love to go to see that at the Fargodome. Imagine. Michigan 52 NDSU 3. Then they'll bring FSU or Miami in and then we may even see a game that gets into the triple digits.
-
Maybe they can get AOL to sponsor them. Then they have that Yellow stick man on ice skates
-
If the Cubs can blow a 3 games to 1 advantage (which they did), I think the Sioux have plenty to worry about. Let's just hope they aren't the third team to choke for me this week. Packers on Sunday, Cubs today... This is turning into a really crappy week.

How about a Penguin who moves about the ice on a toboggan?

I guess I personally believe that every medium to large university should have at least one DI sport of some sort. The financial benefits can outweigh the costs and it brings better advertising and tourism to the college. Look at it this way: Would ESPN even know where ND is if UND didn't have its hockey program? If we went DIII tommorrow with our hockey program or even DII (not sure if DII hockey exists to be honest) would anyone remember us in the big time? We'd barely make USCHO. NDSU's move to DI football is just an attempt to put their college on the athletic "map." It SHOULD be nothing more than that. If it is meant to be a bash at the NCC and DII, we'll know soon enough. I think a major step towards eliminatig this more negative perception is for NDSU and UND to continue the rivalry. If either school breaks it off, then it really is going to be percieved as truly negative. -
I'm pondering another poll. Who would you least like to get checked into the boards by: Smaby, Greene, Prpich, Schneider, McMahon, Hale, or someone else Greene's my man. Only thing that he has going against him is that the refs judge him by his reputation instead of what is actually on the ice. He also does make some blatent penalties, but that's alright every now and then. Prpich... well, I'd say his mean streak is nearly as big as Greene's. he just doesn't have Greene's size. I like both of them. Very physical, good defensive players. Prpich can even score every now and then.
-
Anyone have the mailing address of the DIII Council? It would be neat to send a bag full of letters with pictures of people flicking off the camera. My condolences to the schools affected. I hope that at least RPI and CC stay. Clarckson is a good program too.
-
I would be willing to pay just for the knowledge that when I graduate and leave ND, I'll be able to watch Sioux hockey. I know that I will not be in driving range of GF to see the games at all where I end up (most likely Illinois at this time). If I can get it on TV, then I'll pay. If I were iin driving range, I'd buy a ticket and come
-
I was surprised too! But maybe it would have conflicted with his class schedule. We all know that everything UND shuts down at 4 I am really hoping that this is all a publicity stunt, that Zach is really sitting the games out and just not letting on, so that BC still plans to face him and that the fans don't get put off and come to the game already out of it.

We're doctors and lawyers and businessmen and pilots. You are farmers and engineers. We also have more professional athletes as alumni than NDSU does. What does this amount to? Blase' trash talk. GO SIOUX!

Gee, nd here I thought the whole move of NDSU up to DI-AA was more like a move of jealousy. We have DI hockey and NDSU was jealous. Couldn't get into hockey (too costly and I think NDSU would have had to start up a women's hockey team as well under title IX, which would have raised the cost that much more) so they decided to move the football team up to the higher level instead. That was my impressions. I mean, look at it this way: UND vs NDSU in hockey. Do you think NDSU would have a chance? It'd be like UND vs Niagara or Canisius. That's why I supported the move to D I-AA for NDSU. Of course, time will tell as far as how their ticket prices will be affected. My impression is that it will shortly go the way of UND hockey's program: Students may have to pay a small fee to go to non exhibition home games. I don't know. This is all GUESS work, folks. If you want to flame it, fine. I never stated anywhere that this is fact. -
