The Metallica song they do play is called Master of Puppets I believe

I guarantee it will change. I have heard repeatedly that the AD wants to make all the upper bowl season ticket seats reserved as well. So yeah, it will change if that rumor is true.

Who complains? Probably the same people who complain about us standing. Or perhaps the people that only come to the rink for the UM and SCSU series. Fair weather fans over die hards. Whoopee... However, I give you this perspective. The ONLY feedback many businesses and organizations get is usually negative. They never get comments like "We need more signs at the hockey games." or "I thought the students were well behaved" Only those who b!tch are the ones who call. That's true for corporate America. We need people to call in saying that we rule. Kupchella only hears what he is told and if that is only complaints, then that's what he reacts to.

UNDProud- I was IN THE BAND at one point. For an entire season no doubt. And I can stand with Diggler in saying that some of the band sucked. I sucked, that's why I quit! It isn't about fundraising or what they put up with at the Ralph. Everyone knows the Ralph's viewpoint on students and their programs (If we can't make money off of it, screw it). I am against removing the band from the arena, but I am for professionalizing the band. Look at it this way. When I was in the band back in 1998-1999, we didn't have the "Pride of the North" marching band as it is today at the football games. It was just a ragtag group similar to the hockey band. Now, they whipped everyone into shape, made them practice, started them marching, started making them look sharp, and now no one complains about the football band. The problem is, the band is trying to make the hockey band like the football band and that just doesn't work. Not only that, there is a perception among the brass that you have to blow hard to be heard. It was that way when I was in the hockey band. That's the main reason why people think they suck. Have the trumpets stop blowing hard and concentrate on getting the notes right, eliminate showing off, and the band will improve a lot and their playing time will increase. It was mentioned about a "Pep Band" being at the Old Barn. Well, Retro is in. I think the hockey band should be an entirely seperate entity from the Pride of the NOrth and have different standards. I think it should have a pep band feel to it rather than the marching band feel we have currently. They should mike everyone (which would eliminate the brass overblowing), or just the woodwinds and then have some overall mikes turned down to compensate. They should definitely not mike the drums. They should play pep band songs and crowd favorites and eliminate the crappy filler songs like Cheryl Crow. I heard a pep band version of "Caught Stealing" by Jane's Addiction that would be a good addition to the repertoire. No one wants the band to be eliminated, they want the band to correct itself, hold itself to higher standards, and be more in tune with what the students are up to. The last part is really hard because of the location of the band relative to the meat of the student section, but it needs to be done. Oh, and a lot of times, we played at the hockey games with just one of the students as director. Wrongo! We should have a director who can make it to every game or install a student who will do it all the time. No half and half.

With girls like these playing women's hockey, I still wonder (aside from the crap REA puts us through) why we aren't that popular. I say modify the uniforms. Slimmer jerseys and bikershort breezers. There's no checking so why do they need all the padding? I also think the officials should be all women too. And as for Kentucy's club team, I just say that any program that can attract people regardless of how unlikely the sport is, go for it. I'm all for UK's club hockey team for that very reason.

Here's an interesting thought to ponder. Brandt's freshman year wasn't so hot, no? I wasn't here so I am assuming so. So Siembida comes in and suddenly the job is up in the air. This puts a lot of pressure on Siembida and Brandt. Brandt survives but Siembida can't hack it and leaves the program. Now this year, it was basically stated that it is Brandt's job to lose with the understanding that Parise and Ziggy would be used sporatically. With this "it is yours unless you lose it" mentality from the coaching staff, do you think this is responsible for his stepping up? In other words, was the bad play last year partially due to the fact that there was immense pressure on him to out perform Siembida (and vice versa) and now the pressure is off mostly.

I was talking women's hockey... OH! "Hottest Sioux Guy" Gotcha. Wrong thread it appears for me

How about a simple sign: "Boys Among Men" "Today the Ralph, tommorrow bruised" Or you can go medieval: Have a picture of Smaby or Green followed by a bunch of U-18ers drawn half the size of the Matts and you can say "Gulliver among the Lilliputians" But I suppose no one has read Jonathon Swift... Perusing over the roster, One should view the U-17 team. Defenseman Zach Jones from Lisle, IL. I'm positive this is Jonesy's younger Bro. Future Sioux?

That hockey player who also plays soccer. MmmmmmmMMMmmmmm The Sioux hockey cheerleaders would be good looking if the lost half their makeup

I think this weekend was great music wise. However, they could turn up the music a little during pre game warmups. At times, it gets soft. Anyone notice how little the band played this weekend? I think that's a good thing until they get more practice time. Not enough beer song though. In any case, the video intro on Saturday was awesome.

His first NCAA playoff goal, I believe was vs Maine, shorthanded from the blue line. I nearly lost my contact lenses it was unbelievable. Ugly goal, but then again, the goalie was overrated. Wish I could remember who he was.
-
What? I didn't quite hear you A key to good defense is good positioning. This is what Bina had all of Saturday's game. Unlike previous appearances (what you call appearances anyways), Bina didn't quite have that. I wonder how many bruises he had when he finally woke up today There was one block I saw, but not who it was though, where the puck hit so hard we could hear the sound of the puck hitting the Sioux player. I wonder if that was another Bina block. On a somewhat amusing note: Bina guarding the front of the net. Think about it. It's humourous. Especially when the next unit comes out and Greene or Smaby takes his place.

You also forget sympathetic officiating. A lot of non calls against SCSU that were called against UND. How long will SCSU continue to win once they get a ref who calls consistently on both sides and is not afraid to call diving? I admit this is not an SCSU specific issue, as BC and Yale did quite well against the Sioux by diving, but there has to be a point where the refs say enough of this faking out crap. With Schmidt, there has to be at least one 5x3 a game it seems. How pathetic.

This is a call out to anyone in Fargo who knows where I could find the game on. I have to be home (I'm from Fargo) and I am hoping someplace will be able to catch the game. If anyone could help me out, that'd be great give me an email r a PM or just post here.

We dominated all game long tonight, but our power play still was awful. One thing for all who weren't there, all the hype about SCSu's special teams and their defense.... VERY TRUE. They were impressive defensively. Rumors abound on why Montgomery started today (maybe it was stated at the beginning of this thread) but one rumor says he hurt his groin and another rumor has it an equipment problem. Maybe both. As for players, Bina played. And Federov, he was GOOD. No, he didn't produce, but he always seemed to be in the right position to block a shot. I think he blocked at least 4 shots. No, I don't think he deserves to play ever night, but he definitely did better than Marvin did on Friday. Massen was back tonight and he did NOT look good. I still think his groin is bothering him. He didn't have nearly the hustle that he did pre injury. Prpich looked a bit down and out as well, but I'm not exactly sure why. Brandt was on his game tonight. Take away flukes and SCSU only scored once on him. Jones was also a key player for the past two weeks. McMahon's whole line looked good. However, someone said Stafford. I do not think Stafford had a good game tonight. He had an assist, true, but he commonly overskated the puck and gave up the puck on several occasions. Parise and Murray were both called for BS penalties. Folks, neither of them were penalties, I guarantee it. If I had three stars to give I'd give them (in no particular order) to Brandt, Montgomery, and either McMahon or Parise. As for Minnesota -- I am no longer so confident that they'll recover. I am however concerned about this team. I've NEVER seen a team crumble like this when they've lost so few players. This is a messed up hockey season. Oh, folks, rumor has it that Campion will be in Denver for the series next week.
-
Wow. We've had some pretty good passes this year at the Ralph. Unfortunately not all of them have a goal scored after the pass. I wish I had a video of Murray's pass to Bochenski for a goal in (I believe) the Yale game. It was beautiful.

Michigan Tech or Yale. OH! And Boston University

I am under the impression that the assistant coaches work with the Sioux players on special teams. If that is so, maybe it's time for Blais to take over. There were three times tonight alone where if we had a player crash the net, we could have scored. No one crashes the net for the Sioux and every team that plays us has at least one formation that takes one of their players to the net. I'm sick of this crappy special teams play. If this were the NHL, these assistant coaches would be in hot water. In other news, we're really tough to beat 5 on 5 and 4 on 4, but we're not that tough on the penalty kill.
-
He doesn't say that. He says something like "Let's get ready for a Fighting Sioux powerplay! The Sioux powerplay is brought to you by the GF Herald." Or something like that. He never says on your feet. It wastes airtime. People don't stand and those that do run the risk of getting kicked out.

Forecheck asked for my assistance in confirming her identity, but there really wasn't much I could do. We're students. It's not like they'd believe me saying "Yeah, she is who she says she is." I did so anyways, and I admit I wasn't too convincing. Just another one of those things that makes you scratch your head and wonder if this happens elsewhere. As for Porter, something was fishy with that last penalty of his. Steps onto the ice and gets called right away? It reeks of the Greene situation last year with Sheperd. Schmidt doesn't like Porter and so he picks on him. Yeah, most of his penalties were penalties, but that last one.... I'm thinking Blais thought so too. A single playerspending 8 minutes in the box wouldn't play the last half of the game if Blais though the player was entirely at fault.

UND is looking into these players and it isn't all that unlikely that Chay Genoway will end up a Sioux. As for Jonathen Toews, he has gotten a lot of attention from a lot of schools, but mainly Major Juniors. When I was at the tourny at the Ralph I talked to a gentleman who was a friend of the Toews family. From what he inferred, he expects Toews to go Major Junior, but who knows. It's interesting in that respect because he's only a sophomore and under the scrutiny of the regulations regarding recruiting, but the fellow said he wouldn't mind Toews playing here. Yes, The Eaves on SSM is a relative of the BC guys. I believe the youngest brother. Everyone expects him to go to BC as well.
-
Hard to tell, really. But judging by his performance at SSM, he looked really good. Plus he made Team NW look like fools at the Ralph.

Oh yeah!!!! Well.. well... uh... two words for you... YOUR MOM! Uh.. Yeah!
