It may be stupid, but perhaps some of the owners and players are starting to realize that the fans are leaving wholesale and they need to try something to keep the few that remain? Nevertheless, I wouldn't hold my breath. The only good that could come out of this lockout is Goodenow and Bettman's resignations.

When they start it up, I'll believe it. Until then, it's cancelled.

I agree totally. I'm still not convinced that, even with good WRs, we'd have a QB that can make a deep play happen or even throw further than 10 yards down the field. Let me pose this question: Is it better to have a deep threat (can't cover in or they'll throw deep) or is it just better to have a great running game and be a mainly short pass/screen pass offense?

About the media, you have to ask which media source? The Forum never gives UND anywhere close to front page coverage unless something big happens, like beating or losing to Minnesota etc or there is absolutely no NDSU sports events to announce. Even then, I've seen the Minnesota pro teams more prominently displayed. With ND media, you have to assume that they are going to go with the home team first and everyone else second. That's why the Forum features NDSU and Fargo high schools first, Minnesota pro teams second, and everyone else after that.

Normally, I'd agree with you. However, how much "human error" is acceptable before you start wondering what is necessary to correct the problem? Instant replay, as bad as it could become (or is), is necessary in the WCHA simply due to the gross incompetance displayed consistantly by certain refs. Since Greg is too buddy buddy (and should be fired anyhow), handling the refs is not an option. So, until those refs leave or Greg is fired and changes occur personnel wise, instant replay, IMO, is a necessity.

Greene rated as 9th best collegiate prospect? That can't sit well with some of those posters here. And as for Chucko, I can understand why for the reasons yepdude stated. In the current NHL, physical play is emphasized as much as offensive skill, with only defense possibly taking more emphasis (hence the trap rearing its head in the NHL again). Even before getting drafted, I read somewhere that Chucko was the more physical of the two (Zajac/Chucko) but Zajac had better offensive skills. THat was restated during the draft coverage, if I am not mistaken. Every team wants an enforcer who can score, and Chucko seems to be of that mold. Zajac is more of a two way forward like Federov is. I do not recall Federov getting into many fights in his career thus far (not saying that he hasn't), but his scoring ability and his defensive prowess has earned him much accolades. So the compariosn, as I see it would be: Travis Zajac -> Sergei Federov Kris Chucko -> Kris Draper or perhaps Martin Lapointe? Possibly Keith Primeau type player. I'm sure there is a better NHL player to define what I'm talking about regarding Chucko. For some reason, I'm unable to think of the right player.

Is there any place where one can go to see who was previous years' Mr. Hockey award winners? I'd be interested in knowing who last year's winner was and where he is playing, if he is, at this moment.

SEE?!?!?!?! Cancelling the NHL season has resulted in the most drastic and sickening conversation: Girl-impersonating hair bands from the 80s!

I'm saddened beyond belief, but there's nothing I can do about it. What Bettman and Goodenow don't realize is that they've signed their "death" warrants. No, not pine box kind of call the funeral home death warrants, but I mean their careers. The NHL will never recover. It doesn't have the fan base to recover. It hasn't had it for years. Baseball had the fan base. NBA still hasn't totally recovered, but it's showing that it had a decently sized fan base that withstood the strike. The NHL doesn't have that. Goodenow and Bettman cannot see the big picture. They do not truly know what is good for the game. No one waits until the last moment to start negotiations. The bargaining going on within the last 24 to 36 hours were merely jokes. Now, I believe what PTI says: No NHL season until halfway through next year, if at all. The next step is to cancel the NHL draft for this year. I think that would be a good idea, personally. Send a message to youth hockey parents around the US to make sure their kids specialize in more than just hockey just in case the inevitable happens and there are no more hockey players to aspire to.

Followed closely by just wides, posts, and whiffs.

It's a new development by me. Even when I went to the Saturday BSU game, I was able to take the caps with me.

My thoughts: Ok, I came in late but here it is: Zach Parise looked sharp. They did talk about him but it's nice to know that they don't dwell on anything other than AHL and high school performance in that talk. In any rate, they were very complementary to him and I agreed with their analysis. Ryan Miller looked fabulous, especially during the shootout. I wonder if Kessel watched the game? If so, he may have noticed that Kessler tried to do the same move Kessel made vs. Sweden and got hosed even in a setting that demanded low contact. It truly amazes me that ESPN was able to air any of the 10 goals tonight as they spend SO MUCH TIME talking to other people and generally ignoring the game. I hate ESPN. Yeah, I'm thankful they aired the game, but even so, I still hate their commentators. Zach gets a goal in the shootout and an assist in the game.

I thought you'd be upset about Chris Fournier or Josh Siembida not being mentioned? I thought Chris was your favorite?

Nothing like Sioux therapy And this is the kind that most HMOs will actually cover!

1. Agreed 2. I read somewhere that, if you take off all the non ice related events from the main arena's rink, the ice will improve. Can't remember, though, just which school boasted that. I think I read that from a poster here. Anyways, move the Basketball to the Betty and the concerts to the Alerus or someplace else, and you'll have flawless ice, I'm sure of it. 3. This is the issue that Roger's leaving will become the most critical. How is the new AD going to handle the student hockey situation? Will he be Kupchella's mini me and screw us? Or will he be sympathetic and try to work with us as much as possible? From the list of those who are applying, it doesn't appear as though any of the ADs have experience in DI hockey. Though one candidate does have experience in DI (he's from Oregon State).

I thought Ford Field was a roofed stadium?

I can say that not all of those goals were because of the goaltender. Horrible positioning and a defense that has, according to Spaceball One, gone from suck to blow. UAA's fifth goal wasn't flashy like Guyer's goal. It was simply "OH my god! They left me open!" Bangbang play. Not all of it is goaltending.

What place will the Sioux end up getting(WCHA)?

I went with fifth, although 4th is definitely not out of the question with how poorly the Gophers have been playing.
