  1. I think, though it was lengthy , mikejm hit it right on the head. And as for recruiting, I look at our incoming recruits and I can only say "Wow!" I'm positive things will get better. I just hope we don't have to wait until next season.
  2. What I understand of what Rylan brings to the Sioux is not something like Brady Murray. My understanding is that Rylan isn't that big time of a scorer. What he does bring is defensive smarts, forechecking talent, and all around solid defensive forward. He works hard and is great in the corners (like Porter). I would say, using just Sioux forwards, I would compare him to a Porter-McMahon cross. I wouldn't expect 15 goals or more from him, but he could reach double digits in assists and perhaps approach it in goals. But what I would expect from him is a pretty good +/- and a lot of quality time on the penalty kill. I can't imagine what Kaip-Zajac or Kaip-McMahon pairing on the PK would be like.
  3. I just hope we play the keep it simple offense attached to the down and gritty style that has given Denver such success this season. We need to be like Geoff Paukovich and rile up the opponents, plus park in front of Bruckler and intimidate! Crash the Net, shoot!, Quick, short passes, finish checks, stay out of the box, cover your man hockey.
  4. #$#%&*(*#$ it!
  5. I find it interesting in that the last few games Briggs has played, he's let in a ton of goals... and yet his save% is .913. Interesting. In any case, I still think the Gophers won't have any problems with SCSU, but I don't think they'll go anywhere else without Briggs sieve or not.
  6. Yeah, that is quite amazing.
  7. Maybe so, but petey and tnt make good points as well. We all have high expectations. I'm pretty sure that you could go to Mankato and find at least a few fans that are optimistic at the beginning of each season. With this season mostly out of the way, I'd say there is a lot to be excited about if you are a Seawolves fan as well. If one down year was to cost a coach his job, then Sandy would be fired this year, Dahl would have been fired years ago, Blais would have been fired after the 2002 season, Gwoz would have barely saved his job because of the NC he won last year, and so on. It's not bad that we have expectations based on traditions, but the tough part of it is, down times happen. Between 1987 and 1997, how many NCs did we win? I mean, we had decent coaching didn't we? We didn't have the talent though, I know, but we did go 10 years. If we could wait 10 years for an NC, or 3 years for another, then perhaps we can wait another year or two for our next? One down year doesn't mean the end of a tradition or the end of a quality program. We'll recover.
  8. I don't know. But right now, I don't think Minnesota would want either Harvard or Michigan. Just the same, Amherst is the hardest path to the FF.
  9. And the way Minny has played as of late, I wish that rule wasn't upheld. BC has our number. Everyone else has Minnesota's.
  10. Yeah, I was wondering about that too. I think it went like "What? A bounty? Finally we have an excuse to suspend the local boy turned coach! And we won't look bad for doing it!"
  11. I agree. It appears that the cat is indeed out of the bag!
  12. That would be interesting. With the cool demenor Hak gives off, it would be so out of character that everything would stop...except the cheering out of the student section
  13. It's a tough question, sure, but I'd have to go with Minnesota.
  14. Some of these fans are having a tough time handling a down year with an overhyped senior class. When something like this happens, coupled with injuries and the realization that the WCHA is getting better and better yet they refuse to admit to it, they start doing the only thing they can: rationalize their position by pointing fingers. I don't have much tolerance for that, but I guess that's tough on me. I post back as angry as ever and I realize that they have a right to point fingers at the team. It is a free country. They can even call it criticism if they wish even though it's hardly constructive. It's the world we live in. Perhaps one of the reasons why I don't point fingers at players is because I can't play the game of hockey and to see them go out and do the best they can, even if they lose, is still privilege enough. They do what I cannot. A lot of them have great talent. Who knows what the future provides, but perhaps a NC isn't in the cards for these seniors. Maybe not for the juniors either. Who knows, but I'm along for the ride regardless. And I'm happy to ride along.
  15. I don't recall the Alerus showing replays of questionable calls. They showed replays of everything else though. At the Ralph, they barely show replays at all, questionable or otherwise.
  16. Don't cloud the issue with offense. Offense isn't our problem. Our defense and coaching is! Tow the line!
  17. You got half of it. The other half is that we need to fire the coach.
  18. I disagree. Well... partially. Brandt has already pretty much been given the boot. As for Parise. Uh. Didn't Jordan backstop the win against UAA? Look, I'm not against Phil by any means. I really think he's going to be the solid #1 we're all looking for. But No, I'm afraid giving Jordan "the boot" just isn't going to happen. He'll get ice time. It's something that you all will have to come to grips with. He's a good goaltender. We have TWO good goaltenders. I remind you that we have a goals per game of around 2.5 (we score that much a game on average, not give up that much on average). That means that we have to play nearly perfect hockey in order to win every game. Phil isn't that perfect. Neither is Jordan. Our offense needs to improve. I'm more content with our defense than our offense.
  19. Never heard Zach Jones as being a top 10 pick. Never heard him being projected in the first round period. A nice mention. However, no mention of Toews. Is this because it's slanted as the top American prospect compared to Europeans? I heard Toews was supposed to compete for a top 5 draft position.
  20. Bolded the real problem.
