  1. Here's a general hockey thought: Why is it that we are more prone to chime in and talk Sioux hockey after a loss than after a win? The traffic on this site today hasn't been nearly as high as it has been, say, after the loss to UAA.
  2. It is, isn't it!!!! I'm happy! I truly am! It's nice to feel this way about the team.
  3. Oh? Prove it.
  4. They might as well. It's not as though they have anything else to practice for at this point. EDIT: Too bad for some of thos players. Some of them really do try hard. Oh well.
  5. SCSU probably hired the local high school and squirt teams to come in and play the Huskies so they can feel good about actually dominating a game
  6. I wonder if this may have been an overreaction to the recent onslaught of fast goals given up after we've scored as well as our incredible inability to hold one goal leads. And Federov, no, I mean for at least the 2nd and 3rd periods. The first was pretty rough, I believe (UW got both of their goals in the first I think?). But we're the only scorers after the first period ended. It's odd to say this, but the first period is definitely our worst on average, IMO.
  7. You know, I would happily take that wager. So far, UMN has, under JJ, beaten a dead horse in SCSU. I'd imagine if they played a real team such as DU, CC, or even UW or Michigan in a playoff setting, I doubt UMN would get anywhere. As I'm a lowly teacher with minimal disposable income (graduated and all.. can't even afford to go to the Ralph for games ), I can't wager very high, but I'm game. Pretending that USCHO's Feb 21 Bracketology is correct, it states that Dartmouth would face Minnesota. Since I know nothing about Dartmouth's program, I'll assume it's just a tad better program than the likes of say... Bemidji State or UMD (this season comparison, so don't get offended UMD fans). So, I may not be inclined to wager on a 1 and done type bet. However, Minnesota would go on to face Harvard or Michigan. With JJ in nets, I'd wager they couldn't beat either team. Dov Grommet-Morris (Harvard) and Alvaro Montoya are far more superior goaltenders than anything Minnesota can field (one could argue that even with a healthy Briggs). Michigan has been solid as of late, but has huge issues with consistency of play. Michigan has had problems on the offensive side, which really I still don't see as a concern for Minnesota, so advantage Minnesota. The problem I see is with defense. Defense wins championships, WPoS. Right now, I'd wager Harvard OR Michigan's defense against Minnesota in a heartbeat. In any case scenario, no way does Minnesota reach the Frozen Four. Yes, even with home ice advantage and one of the, on paper, easiest paths to the frozen four. Interestingly enough, I don't think UND will make it either. With a bracket of BC, BU, and UW, it would be incredible to expect a team like UND to get past them. UND's bracket is the hardest path to the frozen four. Midwest's Regional (Denver's path) is the easiest in my opinion.
  8. Greene got a goal? LOL!!! Oh my god! Where are the Greene bashers now? WHERE? Our maligned D gets 3 of 4 goals and the fourth is by a part timer. This is a CHARACTER win for the Sioux. Lots of character and for once they did things right apparently. Shows that I missed the game. Too bad it was an empty netter.
  9. Interesting of note: I think the top players recently have been Greene, Jones, Zajac, FABIAN, Porter, Spirko, and JORDAN PARISE. Notice the two I capitalized. One is a sometime warrior, the other is a much maligned goaltender. I think Zajac and Spirko have been the two freshmen with the most impact. I think Radke has been the most underutilized (recently despite good play they've been finding every excuse it seems not to play him). Biggest disappointment has to be Kaip. No, not for his play. but because he played so well while he was healthy and then lost the season to injury.
  10. WE WON AND I MISSED IT!!!! Maybe that's why we won? For those stat people out there: Does this count under the Friday column or does it count as a Saturday win? (regarding we seem to be more a Friday team than a Saturday team). We have now taken 2 points from a team that most thought we'd get none. I heard that Jones, Fuher, and Fabian (WTF??!?) had goals. Nice to see Fuher score. The two D who scored are the D I love having in the offensive zone. Jones rushes the net and Fuher isn't afraid to shoot the puck.
  11. Man.... I can't imagine what kind of sabotage that scenario could bring
  12. Here's an interesting thought: Possible refs for our series: Zelkin Campion Hunt Anderson This info is pre box score of the MTU/UAA matchup. Let's hope it's one of the top two listed, because it only gets worse as you scroll down the list.
  13. Pascal was a first round pick. 8th overall. Blackheart- Hey, that's not much savings. I mean the cost in freight hauling his fat arse around has got to be twice his meal ticket
  14. Said it before, say it again: Reason why UM won tonight with JJ in net: SCSU was their opponent. WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY can't we have them this weekend instead of UW? It's been a long long time before I've heard period-long chants of SIEVE!! SIEVE!! SIEVE!! And I guarantee that UMN will get NOWHERE in the postseason if Briggs isn't in net.
  15. I wonder if that's what got him the contract.
  16. Why can't teams get cold when they are playing UND?!
  17. Hey! You got the same guy that we do on the radio! Except our guy interviews Sioux players and asks them to walk us through a typical date with their girlfriends! Dead air is more worthwhile then those interviews.
  18. This is old news and not really relevant, but FYI: January 20th found fattyfatty Chris Fournier signed by the Texas Wildcatters of the ECHL. It's always amazing that previous records matter little in pro hockey. He's played 4 games. No goals and 1 assist. A +2. Nothing special.
  19. Just about all of the local bars have shuttle service (Rumors, El Roco, and more). I do believe there is still a UND run free shuttle to and from the lot on University Ave. And Columbia (the big lot across the street from the frats and sororities).
  20. ZParise! How many times must I tell you!!!!! It's down to three! Two Midwest and one east team: Michigan Tech, Wayne State, and Robert Morris! Sheesh!
  21. I'm thinking that they've already signed National Letters of Intent (according to Heisenberg). PA and Dubay are full of crap or they've admitted that they have inside information of a certain team violating recruiting regulations
