    Don Adam

Uh, I can almost guess the interaction of the reprimand: GS: Hello Don. How are you doing? DA: Not bad, Greg. How about you? GS: Not bad, but not good, Don. Look, we've known each other for a while so I'm going to cut straight to the chase. The league and I have reviewed the game tape of the Denver game and found that yourself and your assistant linesmen were not correct in the call on Paukovich's hit. It should have been a major penalty. DA: I know, Greg, but it was the playoffs and it didn't look as bad as it did until the Sioux player hit the ice. I'm sorry about the injury and I wish I could change it back. GS: Good, that's just what I want to hear. Look, we're going to have to do something. So here's what we're going to do. We're going to pin some of the blame on the assistants and we're going to put a reprimand in your file. Don't worry about the reprimand, Don, you know me. I'm your buddy. DA: What does the reprimand say? GS: It states what happened in the game and that you were incorrect. Anyways, just do me the favor of not screwing up again, ok? DA: Ok, boss. GS: I hate it when you call me boss. Call be Greg or buddy, or pal or chum. We're all friends here. I've got your back. DA: Thank you chum. GS: Better. Now, let's see about next year.... ----------------------- Ok, that assumes Greg can actually think like that. More than likely the reprimand is a signed document saying that Don Adam will not be a bad little ref again. Fluff. Serious fluff. Don's no closer to being fired now than he is to retirement.
  2. His brother was supportive of Jon's decision to commit to UND. I think it is mentioned in an article when he first verballed to UND. If we treat Jon well and David wants college, I think we'd get the inside track on him.
  3. Exactly! He is the HEAD official on the ice. Blaming it on the ARs is what's called "convenience" so that at least some of the heat can be taken off of Don Adam's shoulders. If there is an officiating mistake made in a game, regardless of who makes it, the blame HAS to go to the man in charge. ARs are not in charge during the game. The head ref is. Is Geoff's penalty the result of the AR being too lenient or not taking the time to up the time? Maybe, but it doesn't relieve Adam from the blame. In the business world, if a group of guys embezzle funds from a company and get caught, who is blamed? DOes it stick with the group? Or does it go higher? Ten to one it goes to the person or people directly in charge of the people to which the embezzlement took place. Those supervisors are either reprimanded or fired depending upon severity and such. The ARs screwed up, the league says. Who cares? It's going right back to reflect on Adam. Adam's job is to make sure the ARs are doing their job.
  4. I want it to be unbelievable and impossible. My scienario is this: UND 7 BU 2. Who cares who gets the BU goals. Strong performances by Matt Greene and Eric Fabian, who both got hat tricks . the last goal was Zajac on the PK (Matt Smaby for patting a BU player on the back). FEAR THE GREENE SNIPER!
  5. Wow is right. However, it's what I call a "freak" play. No way in hell would that be able to occur in an actual game.
  6. I think I asked this question in a different thread and didn't get a response (or I missed the response): With the injury to Bina, what does Hakstol do? Does he ramp up the attempts to land Finley for next season? Does he go with Hardwick right away? Does he just sit pat and put faith in Bina for next season and go for Dowzak for 2006 if things don't work out? What does he do?
  7. With the angles of that picture, it looks like Brady's gloves take up half his arm! And what is he doing with his mouth?
  8. Well, historically we've won every other meeting in the playoffs. BC won the last time, so if you go by that pattern, we're due. If you go by regular season performance, BC beat UND pretty easily earlier in the season. BC is bruised but probably isn't going to be that bad off health wise when they meet UND (unless things change dramatically between now and game time). UND is missing 3 players, Mike Prpich (who could be back), Brady Murray (who won't be back), and Robbie Bina (who might be through as a hockey player period due to a spinal injury). We are banged up badly... but at the same time, I dont think we've ever played more inspired, character hockey this entire season. We're definitely dangerous right now, but how much so is beyond me.
  9. It was either that or self promote my post to USCHO. I figure you're the king of that, so I just copied and pasted. As for the post itself, every now and then I'm good for something
  10. Hey! Curling is the national sport of housekeepers and servants everywhere! Where else can maids aspire to with their brooms?
  11. One poster doesn't make an entire society. SteveF called us cheap. Mav was quite respectful of UND.
  12. Boyle is a first round draft pick of the LA Kings.
  13. Sorry to bump this thread, but I don't want to clog up the Robbie Bina thread with this question that isn't based in wishing him well. What I'd like to know is: How does this surgury affect his ability to turn his head in the long run? Is he truly done with the sport of hockey?
  14. You're welcome. Though I'm not sure at all what I did.
  15. WHose damn oversight was that? Unless this is part of the Elight 8 Mens DI basketball (Duke, UNC, etc play in this), I don't think the ice should be removed if hockey is underway.
  16. What ever happened to that blowhard, Jack Edwards? With the company line forever spewing out of his mouth, I would have thought he'd be a lock for these kinds of tourneys... especially in the Worchester or Amherst regionals.
  17. The unfortunate thing is, in some ways Geoff is right. Don't tell me some of the penalties Matt Smaby and Matt Greene have earned were because he was intentionally trying to take the guy's head off. There is a height disadvantage for tall hockey players and Geoff talked about it. That being said, does height really matter when you have a head of steam coming from behind on a player with his head down?
